Kara from David vs Goliath was the second coming of Parvati and she never got the credit she deserved. Had she made the final and won, she would have been the greatest player of all time.
Kara's game was very old school textbook Survivor game almost perfected. Shame that kind of gameplay is overshadowed by twists and all these new gimmicks.
Old school Survivor is the more complex game because there weren't a million advantages; you truly had to rely on alliances and keep strong relationships. The simplicity of the concept is what made it so compelling.
That's why Vecepia, Sandra, Jenna, and Danni have very impressive wins to me because they maneuvered in a way that a lot of winners today couldn't and wouldn't get respected for.
And Tina is the blueprint for many dominant players who were alliance figureheads. Couldn't stand her during Outback, but she's another winner that I think played a solid game that we've seen done in flashier forms since.

IMO a great new school winner is Natalie because she combined old school gameplay with the implementation of new school gameplay and did it masterfully. Her endgame is legit one of the best ever. Not a single step missed once she set the plan for the Alec boot.
Idk if it's unpopular but anybody that goes for a beware advantage when they're in the majority is a moron. Sure you can afford to lose your vote if you have people on your side but what if you can't complete the tasks? What if your alliance now sees you as a liability? I would NEVER risk my vote unless I knew I was going home next 100%. Having no vote means you have zero power and every vote matters on this show. So many mornic players think they can collect advantages like Pokémon cards to dominate and it fails every single time.
I still want a Free Agents like season. Put everyone on one beach day 1 and have each challenge played in teams and maybe even pairs with an individual

Not that he's a terrible player but I'm glad Rick Devens didn't win. Probst & production loved him and his story of coming back from the edge and winning challenges and finding idols only to have the winner be someone who barely played the game instead in honestly pretty hilarious. A good lesson to producers is that when you do EoE or Redemption Island twists, it won't always go the way you want. Chris saved us from EoE becoming permanent

yeah someone hosted an online version of this a decade ago. Every challenge was individual the first half of players to finish were immune the rest were not and went to tribal. The immune players did not attend tribal to vote. It could be a really unique concept especially if they keep challenges fair.

I never liked America's Tribal Council which took place days after the All Stars reunion where the top candidates were Big Tom, Colby, Boston Rob, and Rupert. Even though Rupert won that BS campaign by what could have been very well production especially since Rupert was in the beginning stages of his popularity since the previous Pearl Islands season.
What if Dan and Kelly aren't cast on Surivor 39, does it have potential to be a top notch season? Put Sydney and Danny from 41 on instead and I think it's a great season, Island of the Idols would also need to be taken away.
This should have been the cast for Survivor 40. No Rob & Sandra on Island of Idols. No Edge of Extiniction. Tribes split by Old School and New School. No crazy twist besides an Idol on each beach and a few tribe swaps. That's what we deserved and what we were ROBBED of. I'll never forgive Probst for the 100s of bad choices that ruined what should have been an iconic season.

Yeah, I think that's wildy agreed upon. He is misogynistic narcissist and as soon as he got power this show went downhill. He has absolutely destroyed this show. When he got married and had stepkids and wanted to make it a family show is really when he killed the quality.
Did Probst ever try and justify the hour glass twist on his podcast? It'll never make sense to me how people agreed on a twist that sends the winning team to tribal. Sydney should sue for that and I personally plan on suing for them robbing us of more Sydney airtime.

Lisa Welchel should have played one more time

Lisa was good on Phillipines but her storyarch was complete there. She was never needed again.
