They didnt show Cayla getting lost... we saw her take a long time to eat, and then she got to the sudoku puzzle, said she loves sudoku, and then next we see, her fingers are frozen and she quits. Do you know what portion it happened in?
From what I understand, they changed the path on the final day when the weather got bad. They are mic up and we’re told they could ask for help with direction. Cayla said she came to a fork in the path with an arrow pointing back down the mountain. She asked for help with directions, but got no response. She followed the arrow. Eventually they come get her and turn her around. They tell her there was no arrow. When they get there with her they see there is an arrow. She believes she went close to an hour round trip out of the way. Oh well! You have just added an hour in freezing temperatures to your body. Game over soon as hypothermia is setting in.

Yes hypothermia. They don't show it, but Cayla was taken off the mountain in an ambulance. Others might have been too, I don't know.

I do know her. Very close with her family and friends. I don’t think she would claim to hate production, but she is upset with their preparedness and some of their tactics. My take is they were not prepared for the weather to turn bad. They didn’t have a contingency plan in place. They certainly should have had dry winter clothing that fit when the freezing temperatures hit. I think she said they were going to kayak, but they did scrap that with the water conditions that unfortunately DQ’d Desi, no fault of her, but in the MTV version we have seen others taken off the show by their random partners. Cayla loves the competition, so I do believe she would do it again, even with the negatives she experienced. She viewed it as a positive, especially building new friendships, overall.
She didn't get to watch the final episode to the best of my knowledge. She is flying to Croatia for a close friends wedding. She might be having to much fun there to break away for exit press. She's not super mad at production and I doubt she will much shade their way publicly.
