ok i loved this episode! the "this season on" looked dumb esp hearing they got into beef with production a lot which doesnt look like it will be aired.
i would cast any/all of these people for the challenge all stars 4 even if they never did the challenge before. why should it matter if they are having issues casting? melissa is great, and julie should be on next seasons challenge.
looks like julie melissa will "reconcile" next episode and then most of the drama is done
i watched the Julie / Melissa / Danny argument from the first episode
- Melissa is petty. End of story. She kept trying to compare what Julie did to her to what Julie did to Danny.
- I can quite honestly tell Julie didn't send an email to any college about Melissa
- Julie doesn't owe Melissa ***
Julie at the least owes Melissa an apology. I don't think she is being petty. Melissa was her friend and was hurt by what she did. Julie is clearly struggling with even taking responsibility for it.
Here's a link to the post Melissa wrote about Julie in 2003, while Battle of the Sexes was airing. It explains Melissa's side of the conflict more fully. She also says in the post that Danny suffered the most from Julie's behavior, so...I think Melissa understands that the two situations are not the same, but definitely exhibit a pattern of behavior on Julie's part.
Although after a rewatch the whole "I don't remember you moving to LA, I remember you moving to Orange County" was kind of petty, but funny haha.
Still, I think Melissa has a right to be upset. Julie does not come across as genuine and wasn't even willing to take responsibility for what happened.
lol at them hyping this season up in the opening "most dynamic cast to date" Wrong! If there's one thing I know it's The Real World and this was definitely not the most dynamic cast to date. It just benefited from it being the year 2000 and reality tv blowing up huge. This debuted around the same time as Survivor so this cast was thrust into the spotlight. The season before it, Hawaii, was light years better. Miami's cast was way more dynamic than this one as was LA. San Francisco is also regarded as one of the all time best casts. lol at all the hype it's not one of the best casts ever it's one of the few they could get to reunite for this Homecoming so they had to hype them up and make them seem great.
Just watched this now and my first impressions are:
- Julie is in LaLa land, and something seems off with her (more than normal) but all in all she is a great casting choice just as much now as she was in 2000
- Melissa is a firecracker and hilarious, but id really like to know how much money she lost out on bc of Julie/julies mom
- Tokyo/David was surprisingly my favorite and can tell he definitely matured
- Jamie is hotttt, daddy vibes
- Matt is weird as ever
- Danny is mehhhh
- Kelley brings nothing to the table, forgot she was even there

- this was my favorite premiere of Homecoming so far, yet it's the one season out of the three that I actually never saw the original season.
- I liked Julie on the Gauntlet 2 back in 2006, but this episode did not paint her in a good light. I hope that she continues to grow, because she showed a bit of growth at the end when Tokyo spoke with her. Hopefully episode 2 won't show her being so defensive again.
- they all seem to have aged very well. I love how everyone jumped on how amazing Matt looks in this day and age. "Do you drink children's blood?"
- I think they made the right call by having Julie arrive last bc as soon as she was there she was the focus.
- Tokyo was my favorite in this episode. Seems like he's changed a lot and matured based on what This episode showed.
- my only experience seeing Melissa on tv is actually from Girls Behaving Badly, so I've always enjoyed her sense of humor. I actually thought she seemed petty at first but that's bc I really didn't understand the story.
- I like Danny, but I'm kind of worried for him. It seemed like he was drinking a LOT more than the others throughout the day. Hopefully his anxiety and PTSD doesn't get the best of him and he has a good season.
- Kelley, Jamie, and Matt didn't do much this episode, but we know how that goes with these shows.
- I'm excited for episode 2, much more so than I was for NY or LA.
Julie-She's what the show was all about. She came from ignorance but was open-minded and grew. She was a great person, I'll be interested to see why everyone hates her the second go around.
Melissa-She's fun and amazing, the only reason this show had any drama. I can't imagine if she was on a season without 5 extremely boring roommates.
Jamie-He was way better than I expected, not super exciting but there was just something very likable about him.
David-He was my least favorite personally but without him there wouldn't have been as much house conflict.
Matt-He would have been a better fit with a more controversial cast. I would have liked to seen him on Vegas instead of Frank lol. He was just such a nice guy but had no other storyline except being a virgin.
Danny-I like Danny as a person a lot but as a castmember he literally had nothing going on outside of Paul. I wish Paul would have been the roommate.
Kelley-Such a waste of a "hot" blonde spot. Could not have been an ymore bland. She might have added more if she didn't get with Peter.
Great people don't ripoff their unsuspecting friends with the strereotypical white girl smug *** smile but go ahead I guess.
About to rewatch after i finish Seattle,,,on the dead friend episode now after Nepal. Skipping Hawaii.
But yeah truth be told, NOLA #1 was incredble. I used to live in SLC and am very familiar with BYU and the prevalent racism of Utah as well.
People seem to forget David was often level-headed back in the day. See his chat with Matt after he lost on The Gauntlet. The talk with Julie was the same. He had to explain how others think to someone that simply doesn't get it.

One question-- did Julie pack nothing but her Lululemon leggings for 2 weeks?? I wonder if we'll ever see her in jeans or shorts or somethingng other than those leggings. I LOL'd when Melissa commented, "girl, I don't know why you're storming off with your Lululemon leggings..." lol did she make a deal to sponsor them while on the show? We all know how Julie is...
I enjoyed the premiere until Julie entered the house. And then it all became about her. Ugh. I am SO stoked to see her getting f'd up at the Drag bar and losing it on everyone. And the way she fell out of that car and onto the pavement?! OMG she is a train wreck. I also love how Danny told her to put the Psilocybin down, lol
there is just so much potential for a challenge all stars with like Melissa/Julie, Veronica/Ayanna, Beth/Tina... they would never agree but there would never be a better challenge season
there is just so much potential for a challenge all stars with like Melissa/Julie, Veronica/Ayanna, Beth/Tina... they would never agree but there would never be a better challenge season
Can you imagine if they had rivals paired up in teams, and we'd have Julie and Melissa trying to work together, as well as Tina and Beth or even Katie and 'Verantula'?? Lol I would love it!
Finally watched this and Julie is much more enjoyable in a challenge setting, it was so irritating watching her and her buckteeth not take ownership for the shady shit she'd done to Melissa and Danny. David broke it down to her perfectly and offered some wisdom while basically telling her to stop playing the damn victim
Oh, easily. Hawaii is way overrated. Aside from Colin/ Amaya & ruthie's struggle in the 1st half, it's majorly boring.
Funny I thought it was one of the best seasons ever. Apparently so did several others. Ruthie was on the cover of People magazine with the articles stating that the season broke ratings records for the 6 months it was on the air. Everyone I went to school with was watching. New Orleans was way more vanilla and bland to me. The cast is way too white for my taste I guess.
@Chavo, people have different opinions and that is ok. Not everyone has to think the same as you. Also "too white" for you after you have said several questionable and ignorant things...you are trying too hard right now.

ugh i stand by the fact if they did Rivals back in like 2002-2004 ish it would probably be one of if not the best season ever, those people genuinely disliked one another back then

Im not trying anything but thanks again for acting like you know everything. And I said what I said the cast was too bland white and similar. Like we really needed not one but two white, religious virgins? Matt was from rural Georgia and Kelley from rural Arkansas and Jamie was a self described rich kid from the suburbs. Yea very diverse. That's why I personally never connected with this cast and didn't really care for them because I didn't have anything in common with this group. Like you said we can all have our own opinions and that is mine.
You just went from saying very sus things to being offended by a cast that was too white? Plus it makes no sense when you are comparing Hawaii and New Orleans. Hawaii had one black man, one asian female. Three were from Cali, 2 were from Chicago. New Orleans had one black man, and one black/filipino woman. So make it make sense.

And what are these sus things that I said? And you obviously don't know the Hawaii cast. Don't come for me when it comes to their backgrounds, Colin is half Latino, Amaya is Jewish, Teck is black, and Ruthie is Asian. Justin is gay. more than half of the cast were minorities. Still don't make sense to you? Make that make sense! Oh and even Danny was from rural Georgia. NO was like redneck island. That's why David was an outcast.

100% truth. Julie gets off on playing the victim. It turns her on.

"Yoohoo"
Oh yeah, Tokyo is by miles my favorite. Giving me the Beth Anthony of this cast vibes and I really love that!
NOLA > Hawaii
My take on the first episode:

Rankings after episode 1:
1. David
2. Melissa
3. Kelley
4. Matt
5. Jamie
6. Danny
7. Julie
didn't think I'd rank Julie at the bottom but I found her to be the least likable outta everyone this episode.

Kelley went live the other day, and mentioned that the only reason she agreed to do the homecoming was because of Danny
Finally gonna watch today
