watching to see david from LA, and seeing Julie and Melissa beefing, Mark talking about being in his 30's and saying how the young guys (Yes and LT) are doing too much.
Still one of the best episodes of the Challenge ever. Anytime David is involved something extreme is about to happen. Spit, ripping Beth's top off and whatever is about to happen on Homecoming.
he ripped beth's top off?? surprised they never brought that up but i guess it wasnt on RW exactly
I wonder what led to the argument between david and puck i doubt it just started out of nowhere for him to start talking that crazy.
Just finished watching this. As much as I would've loved to have seen Dom and Aaron, they aren't needed. Tami is the star of the show and I can't with David. This season's already better than NY's homecoming
I always thought Tami, Beth, and Jon were super close on the show. Guess that didn't last between Tami and Beth lol.
They were real close but like I said about the 96 reunion all that got ruined when Beth said Tami married Kenny for money. You know Tami don't F with all that. She seemed to distance herself from The Real World immediately after that and lost touch with everyone except maybe Jon.

Yes he ripped Beth's top off in the pool on Challenge 99 when he was Mr. Big. It didn't air but both Beth and David told me this thru DMs. I think Beth told me about it first so I asked David about it later on and he basically bragged about doing it. I used to talk to both of them frequently and even Tami. I think on MySpace.
I too wonder what exactly started the spit fight. I can't remember if Colin or Melissa ever wrote in their blog what started it. I wish I knew where to find those old blogs they had so much good info.

The trailer alone for La is so much better than the entire NY homecoming.
Ok, we aren't going to hate on the NY Homecoming. It was amazing seeing them reunite. Julie and Heather B were amazing in every way on that, start to finish. It was a great way to kick off the series. LA is doing a great job turning it up a notch and not just relying heavily on nostalgia but also delivering drama.

i wouldnt be surprised if it was racial bc david was heated. that editing was bizzare too with everyone taking pucks side for some reason.
i would have loved to see david do more challenges, i cant believe how much chaos there was on battle sexes and all of it real unlike SLA
Jon did absolutely nothing to take advantage of his move to Los Angeles in the first real world. Even Beth is surprised when she asks him if he's performing much in his time in LA and he says nope. It's almost like he expects someone to just hand him a record deal and doesn't understand that you have to work really hard with the opportunities you are given. I don't see too much different nowadays. It seems like he just expects homecoming to lead to a big break and talks over and over and over about how he sang the words true story for a fourth of a second in the intro to the show 30 years ago which is irrelevant. Like. I don't know if it's a privilege or something but if you want it work for it.
this is the same guy who is begging to get back on all stars despite having never worked out a day in his life
Irene said in a recent interview that one of the strongest reasons that pulled her to doing homecoming was that she felt that Jon is very talented and should have hit it big after the first go and she wanted to give him that second chance. I appreciate her generosity but it feels to take into account that he didn't do anything with that first one and just assumed that sitting around would get him a contract.
I wonder if Tami had the same issue that Julie had after real world 1. I wouldn't be surprised if Tami struggled to land acting roles because casting directors felt that a notable face like that would be too distracting in something like a commercial.

Jislea said on a podcast that everyone took Puck's side because like on LA David had been starting fights with several people and one of them even got Piggy sent home on the first day. This is similar to what happened in LA after The Blanket Incident because it looks like that's why they sent him home but in reality it was because he had choked Jon and had already been fighting with everyone the blanket incident was the final straw.
Battle of the Sexes definitely had a lot of real life chaos unlike that SLA crap. You had Melissa vs. Julie, Piggy getting removed due to a fight with David, The Puck/David spit fight, David spitting in Beth and Puck's face and some of it getting on Ayanna and her wanting to kill David. Beth claiming that David was high and should be drug tested. And this was all before they could film the opening! That was the craziest cast ever assembled.
Same here. L.A. was always one of my favorite casts. After rewatching it shot back up to #3 of my all time favorite casts. Miami is #1 another cast that can't stand each other and Hawaii is #2. After this Homecoming I might have to give them the #2 spot they just always deliver.

wasn't that like day 2 in the house? david is wild.
melissa julie was amazing tv, that sounds ****** up if julie did that. i can't WAIT for that RW homecoming.
i love how they have 30 minute episodes and the intro is like 3 minutes. i miss them.
(btw you should post more here. someone who actually talks about the show then weird random drama bc people need attention)
Sexes definitely had crazy and explosive personalities but there were also a lot of chill and likable personalities to counter so that it was never too dark.
Sexes definitely had crazy and explosive personalities but there were also a lot of chill and likable personalities to counter so that it was never too dark.
its how they need to cast the show now. now it's just everyone yelling and starting fake drama, no one chill or likable. the formula was perfect for that.
NY had a better premiere. Brilliantly edited and executed. It was Emmy-worthy. I wasn't feeling the reintroductions on this. The episode didn't get good until the end. I think overall this season will be more entertaining though.
Beth S. is always saying she doesn't know why so-and-so doesn't like her or people think bad things about her. Well, she trashed Tami for years. I think the reason she craves attention and acceptance is because her emotionally distant mother made her feel neglected growing up. See the scene where her and Jon go out to dinner with her mother. It was kind of sad.
NY was a great mini season. It didn't feel too long with its' 6-episode runtime. It was testing the waters and I think it opened up a very sincere conversation about race. I rewatched it yesterday in anticipation for LA and I really did genuinely enjoy it.
NY was important for society while LA is going to messy fun. Exactly like how the original seasons went.
You're absolutely right, Aspiring. It will give us what the originals did. lol.
NY Homecoming kind of went down a few notches for me once they kept spending too much energy on getting Becky back after she already left. But like I said, premiere was top-notch.
If that's David leaving early, which is likely because Reggie would punk his a#$, then I hope things stay messy. This cast is best for that because they just do not click.

Cant really remember the timeline but it was very early on. Before they could shoot the intro to Sexes. That cast was so wild it was the first and last time that Jon Murray made an appearance on The Challenge. He had to calm the cast down as they were all about to walk off for Puck!
Damn that was a good *** episode. It's hard for people to make amends when both still feel they were the person wronged. I'm also shook Irene is getting married on the show again! Sooo crazy. Love Beth A and I appreciated Tami being honest af cuz I knew she never planned on seeing any of 'these people' again lol Tami always gave the impression that she didn't like talking about the show or even acknowledging that she was part of it prior to the homecoming. Seems triggering for her and like she hoped she would put it behind her for good after gaining fame from Basketball Wives.
But yeah, it was messy from the very beginning just like the original season was and I love that. Some of them genuinely just do not click lol
I wanted to respond to this because you said they never clicked and I can't help but remember a theme of the LA season was several of them saying they didn't really know each other. Aaron was always at school, Tami even said in the premiere she had her own friends and was hardly in the house, David left really early, Irene also was hardly there and she was engaged and probably didn't engage with the roommates, Jon was 18 and just bummed around the house. So they really didn't bond at all. And this was before production forced them all together a lot. This cast had a lot more freedom and when they did have to be together they fought like cats and dogs like the vacation in Cozumel. tami was going off on Beth A. In the lobby (which we got a clip of on Homecoming! Shoutout to whoever threw that in there), Glenn, Aaron and Dom not wanting to hang out with Tami, Jon and Beth S. And Tami confronting them about it and once again taking out her frustrations on Beth A. I always felt this group didn't click because they cast a bunch of Type A personalities. They weren't afraid to speak up and that often caused a lot of friction with this group of 9.
^I always wondered what was it about Tami with Beth A. She always had it out for her despite how kind and harmless she was. Part of me is inclined to suspect she may have had unconscious hang ups about her own sexuality or something cuz jeez she always lashed out at Beth A in particular lol
I love Homecoming! My favorite parts were the never before seen footage and spilt screens. Seeing what was happening in 93 and what's happening now is so cool. Tami opening up about her eating disorder was powerful. I hope they get a lot of viewers. It looks a lot more interesting than other reality shows out now.

She lashed out at Beth A. The moment she met her. I always wondered as well what it was about her that triggered Tami. I don't think it's because she's a lesbian as she was lashing out at her before she knew that about her.

I was gonna say, the other part of me thinks she was just over the experience by then and would’ve lashed out at anyone new coming in regardless of who they were lol. Can’t deny she was uncomfortable with her being a lesbian though but I can def see the two things being unrelated. Tami was probably just over having to adapt to a new person coming in and altering the dynamic
In it, Tami says she turned down Homecoming many times. There was a homeless encampment in Venice until shortly before filming.
Article notes that critics found the show overall to be "bogus." I always thought a cool thing that could have done at the start of Homecoming is having the camera at the annoying tilted angle the show used and then as you see the first cast member, the camera turns to a normal angle for the rest of the show.
Unrelated to the article, but I would have hoped the cast would have talked about things today particularly with someone like Jon. Someone can confront Jon - how can he say he cares about someone of a different race yet presumably still vote Trump? Is Jon actively anti racist? He should have the discussion that Becky had but this time with a conservative. Regarding Jon, A vote for Trump is a vote for Trump. Doesn't seem like that discussion happened. Maybe a bit with Glenn but he's already given an abrasive edit.
Please no more issues of race. We had enough of that on the first Homecoming. That was their season. L.A. has and always will be the messier drama season and for that I love it. Race and politics is so tired and played out it's annoying to me. All people do is argue about it but nothing really changes which is upsetting and frustrating. I want L.A. to stay the direction it's going with the messy drama. Like you said we touch on it with Glenn this season and that's fine but I hate when the whole show is taken over by issues about race. That's what NY Homecoming was for.

Battle of the Sexes was crazy. In addition to the David drama, I mean, Puck wrecked the place with a machete!
Ayanna: "a ma-che-te!"
