It's possible that they just counted Derek as an elimination for the sake of speeding up filming (or because there's a male/female elimination on the same night now) and won't replace him just because they have alternates.
Is Sryus coming in as a replacement? Or does it depend when did Derek leave the game?
Truthfully, we don't know if he left because of his sister passing or if it jut worked out that when he was eliminated his sister passed.
I'm not sure if Derek and Leah were eliminated at the same time.
