It meant nothing. This is a reality tv show first and foremost - they will prioritize the narrative they want over anything else. Having someone steal money is better tv than a team that consisted of two wallpapers share money.

as a somewhat ashley fan now and a big ashley fan back then, i agree with you 100%, but i could be misremembering here but i wanna say i feel like there were parts of the FR final that were cut out of the final episodes when they aired so who knows maybe those were parts that got ashley/hunter ahead? But i agree for the tv narrative it makes sense to have it end with whats gonna make the most waves
Im interested to see if Amber is going to be a part of the BB alliance or nah (i never watched DA reunion) but going off of how DA ended seemed like she was more about olaying for herself and that she realized they didnt have her back, hopefully that amber showed up
