I mean production is at fault for Rivals, the other times early in his career he was lucky to be friends with Kenny and Evan. Then Mark threw an elimination which helped him on Exes

At no point was John ever dominant. Maybe Rivals/Exes but even on those Adam & Mark threw eliminations for him. If John gets to a final he usually wins (only Inferno 3/Rivals II I think he didn't) but he's never been the best competitor or dominating.

First off, Tori has never been the best girl on any season. On WOTW2 she performed like it but that was it and Cara was still better
Second, John didn't dominate Exes. Mark and CT were better than him. He had a better partner though. It's like saying Emily wasn't the best girl
Third, John has good wins. Especially Free Agents. Awesome win. But John was never someone that people were scared of. He played a great social game and had some luck along the way. There's nothing wrong with that.

He wasn't very relevent before Exes even though he had three wins, but the show needed new stars after Kenny & Evan were banned and a lot of other big vets were stopping too. Without his masters there he broke out on Exes by winning and getting confessionals that Kenny would normally get(mostly the same lines too), so after so many rookies were on seasons he came back on rivals 2 and was a big character basically because they're weren't a lot of vets around, and then solidified his super vet status when he won free agents. That roughly seems like the start of production's CT, Wes & Bananas love that later turned into worship

I disliked John from The Duel and Inferno 3 then absolutely hated him by the time The Island/The Ruins were done. I do agree he was the sidekick to Evan & Kenny but I'm not surprised he became the face. Evan was talking retirment after The Ruins even without the allegations. Derrick was too. I expected Kenny, John and Wes to be the people they wanted to carry the show. Inferno 3 he had the 4th most confessionals, The Island the most and Cutthroat 2nd despite not making it to the end.
I do wish they would have cast and promoted Seasons better so we didn't basically get a decade of John being the face of the show.
