OOF Laurel on twitter saying production blew the horn after she hit the bell and told her she won. She didn't get a chance to double-check pegs like Natalie did because she was told she had won!
Ninja did point out which hole Laurel was missing several times before she went back up to ring her bell, didn't she? Could have been cut weird though.
Either way, they should have just reset/redone the elimination. It's not that hard.
Production should've known better than to blow the horn. Like how hard was it to see her stick the branch in the hole on top of the tree, knowing that would mean she left one unchecked. That's so reckless on their part and they SHOULD have done a redo.
The end result was hilarious but yes, that's definitely unfair for Laurel.
Ninja still made it to the top before Laurel, she could've easily done what Laurel did and "win", but instead, she knew the rules and decided to keep looking for the missing hole; while Laurel panicked cause Ninja was already on top and so she tried to pull a hail mary by not following the rules and placing the stick whenever. Laurel hitting the bell first by not following the rules doesn't automatically make it a "techinicality" ****.
I guess her skipping a hole she was suppose to put the peg in but created another one. But still doesn’t change Laurel did out climbed her which is just embarrassing on the so called professional climber

She should've looked for the right hole before hitting the bell instead of forcingly trying to put the stick whenever, so you know, do exactly what you were supposed to do and what Ninja was doing while she was already at the top.

Stop it with this nonsense that this elimination round was about climbing. But to be honest, no wayyyyy would have look at the friking camera for a hole. That was some survivor hidden idol shit.
Laurel stuck the final branch just in the top where the fake tree bark ends and not in any peg. It's pretty clear if you watch it back because the pegs are pipes that come out like 3-4 inches and the branches end up going out from the tree horizonally; Laurel put the final one straight up and down inside the like lid part of the bark. Either the adrenaline made her believe that was okay or she knew and did it anyway.
When Ninja points out that Laurel did it wrong at the top, Laurel says many times "you've got to work with what you've got" so it made it seem like Laurel knew that wasn't correct. But who really knows.
