They didn't meet or link up really - they're just all at the same location where they're filming something for the Challenge.
Cara, Paulie, Kayleigh, and Georgia have vids in the same place as well and then are in the other people's vids (like Cara is in a Theo vid, Nany in a Georgia one, Kyle in a Kam one, etc). Georgia even specifically says they're filming for MTV in one of her vids and a The Challenge sign can be seen in the bg of one of Joss's story pics.

What I don't get is the incentive to throw people from your own team in, unless im misunderstanding the format, Why wouldn't the winning team just pick two people from the losing team to go in every time?
It should be obvious by now that Paulie gets close to & chummy with everyone & anyone he thinks is well liked or popular or is the champ. He wants to be liked. And he also does not care if Cara has beef with the person or hates them. Both of them try too hard & it comes off as fake anyway.
