Anyone else watch the season premiere? I thought it was really well done and Michael C Hall was amazing. That scene in the gas station bathroom was really wonderfully acted.
Yeah I thought it was great. The gas station scene and the flashbacks were great. I also loved Astrid's reaction to the info I'm real excited for the rest of the season.
Astrid's performance was a bit weak IMO, but Michael C. Hall was great as always. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season also. I'm sad to see Rita gone as she has no idea why she died and she was a great mother, but she will live on in her childrens' memories at least. (lol I am talking about it as if it were real life :P)
Wow. I know this show is very, very dark and serious but was I the only one that actually found it tough to watch the scene where Dexter told the kids and Rita's parents about her death???? I know that it is Dexter's personality and character to act the way he did but DAMN I felt so awful for those children. Maybe it's cause I've lost both my parents and had to be in that type of situation twice but I actually got nervous during that scene!!!! Very amazing acting and material all around!!!
I do have one gripe with the premiere though. That guy that is sleeping with Deb and is after Dexter seems so redundant. Haven't we had this same storyline (one of Dexter's colleagues begins to suspect he might be guilty and makes his life a living hell) not once but twice, maybe even three times already? Just seems like a rehash to me, so far at least.

I thought that too but someone has to be the one to think it. If they didn't have anyone in the office at least suspect Dexter it would make the show all the more implausible. I think it has less of an effect because he's just a waste of a character. He doesn't really have any background or anger towards Dexter likes Stokes did so we don't really find him that threatening. He's just kind of a doof.
The supporting characters, minus Deb who has been flushed out recently, really need to be used better. That's my only gripe with the show. All four seasons they just seem like they are there to give Michael C Hall a break so he's not the only one on screen the whole episode. If they were more developed I think this show could really be stellar.
[strike]i thought it was pretty good it doesn't compare to the first or 4th season tho...[/strike]
I thought it was pretty good. It doesn't compare to the first or 4th season though...
I did a Dexter season 5 marathon over the weekend and I thought it was good season with an interesting arc.
There will never be a season 1 again, but I think this series still has some life left in it and I'm definitively going to tune into season 6.
One thing is for sure, I find these HBO/Showtime series are much better when watched all at once. The pacing doesn't seem to be there when watching week to week, but if you can just throw the next one on it has the effect of making everything seem to flow better.
I'm guessing this is the season where Dexter goes downhill. I honestly cannot stand Lume, her purpose her reasoning just everything is a no for me. We have Stoakes storyline part 2, and I'm not here for it. Although I do find Quinn charming. Only reason I'm holding on is because Jordan chase (Jonny Lee Miller ❤️)
The show got/gets a lot of hate after the Trinity Killer. But honestly, I loved every moment. Lumen was one of my favorite characters. And I loved the series finale, even though everyone says it ruined the whole series for them. Season 6 towards the end of it took a really ******* weird turn, but that comes to a halt really quickly and the rest I thought was just awesome.

I actually really liked the last season & the story they went with until the very last episode. I couldn't stand the way they ended it. It just didn't sit right with me.

The ending is so bad, that I think people should just stop with season 5. I'm still salty about the season 6 finale all these years later...
It was such a good series. Why? WHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYY?

Or even stop after season 4. Where they were on top of their game with the whole Trinity killer story line. Everything went down hill from there. Ruined one of my favorite shows. At least I still have True Detective & have high hopes for that new show on Netflix Mindhunters.

What? First time i'm hearing this! This is my all time favorite show! God i wish they would come back and pretend last season (or the last few episodes) didn't happen. Like they did with Will and Grace.
You got an article where you saw this. I thought Michael C. Hall was still in talks with Showtime & he didn't currently think it was the right time to bring it back.

I would be ecstatic if Dexter came back! Love me some dark and dangerous Dexter.

Quitting after season 4 wouldn't be a bad move.
I heard season 9 in the works *thinking*
maybe I should finish this
What? I don't even see how that's possible after ruining the show with the last few episodes of season 8

Yeah September 2018, on Netflix or hbo
