they'll look at this as a win - to only lose a few thousands from week 1 to week 2 is impressive by tv standards. they took a big chance on the new castmembers and the viewers are tuned in...I'm not expecting this season to be drastically higher than previous seasons but if they get another 800k episode next week, we could end up seeing a million.

They've been airing this show for the past like 10 months, clearly they're happy with the ratings
They are more than happy lol This show (not counting the spinoffs) is always on the top 1-8 spots. Its not all about the number, if not show with bigger number would have been over and not under.
Plus, cable ratings has gone down by a lot on the last years and there is more alternatives ways to watch shows lives.

But Victor does seem kinda useless though. I didn't watch that season so IDK if he was a fan favorite or not. Natalie so far is a good character though and if she's to be a regular I can see her being VERY popular.

Victor was actually one of the most hated people the first few weeks of season but after he got evicted the first time and came back in the game, audience felt the underdog redemption edit he got in the season and from there he became of the most liked even though in reality he just sucked at the game. Natalie was hated in the beginning of her season as well because everyone who wasn't in the Vet alliance was hated by the casual BB fans but once she cuddled up to James who was a fan favorite vet for the rest of the season, she became a fan favorite easy. From there they edited her story on the show with James and gave them a "beauty and the geek" type edit on the show which casual BB audiences love basic edited cast members.

And its not a cable channel. Cable ratings are way lower than broadcast television networks especially in this era where people like myself doesnt like paying for cable and instead have others alternatives to watch this for free.

Not surprised about the slight drop in viewers. In addition to everything everyone else has already said, This is Us restarted this last Tuesday and it's in the same time slot. I know there's probably not much overlap in viewership but I definitely watched it instead of The Challenge so I'm sure I'm not the only one that made that choice seeing as how it is a very popular primetime show at the moment.
