James is hated because he repeated the same act he did in BB18 because he thought that was what would get him fan favorite again. He didn't play the game, had to be told to make moves (by Natalie/Bridgette/Meech), and played pranks that got old real quick. He was also accused by several of his BB17 castmates for milking his fan favorite popularity.
Natalie's reception in the BB community is mixed. For the most part, she was well-liked up until around Final 7 when she went against Paul/Victor, who were like the golden children by casuals (which makes Paul's return in BB19 much more hilarious). Then after that, she and James got into an argument which was, in retrospect, blown out of proportion but it's whatever anyway. Whether her showmance with James was fake or not, we'll never really know. But most people will believe the version they want to believe.

Not a fan of James but you are right, the guy is loved by the AVG Big Brother viewer and they also loved Natalie as they were the first couple in the history of BB to come in top 3 for AFP. I think most of the H8 towards Natalie comes from post breakup with the Periscope that James did and over 200K viewed it, We may never know the truth what happened with their breakup but for now James is the only one that has posted on social media about it while Natalie has been quiet which I applaud her for but also hurts her as she never responded to James allegations...
