Controversy sometimes can help ratings. Jersey Shore "Big boom" on ratings was after Snooki got punched by a guy and I remember there was alot controversy about the Italian stereotypes that the show was showing.
But for some reason I think this show controversy is way to dark and instead of having a "big boom" it will hurt ratings. Plus, its a boring show.
Yeah Jersey Shore was different since the guy who punched Snooki wasn't part of the cast and I think over time people realize they weren't stereotyping and the cast really acted the way they did. This type of controversy is more like Season 15 of Big Brother where it doesn't do anything but generate bad press which MTV can't afford being a network on its last leg.
