I firmly believe Laurel needs to feel like she's better then everyone around her. She's a narcissist. Back when Cara was weak/a push over Laurel enjoyed the friendship. I think you've hit the nail on the head. Laurel said that Cara wanted to change her position in the friendship and was basically saying that Cara no longer being the passive, weak one bothered her. Then the Nicole thing made it so that the first time in their friendship Laurel wasn't the one in control since Nicole obviously wanted Cara more. The whole thing is weird. I just want to know was I the only one that picked up that it seemed like Laurel still planned on being friends with Cara again? That's the way it sounded to me, but of course she expects Cara to weakly apologize to her. That is one strange friendship.

I did normal stuff: taking a walk around his neighborhood so I can "run into him by accident" or calling him from a payphone and hanging up.
