There was actually a lot of promotion for this show, but numbers don't look great for the first week (from TV by the numbers):

The MTV movie awards barely scraped over a million so keep that in mind. MTV is just unpopular now. Last year's VMAs were by far the lowest of all time with 3 million views. So if A list celebs can only bring in that many D list reality stars and has been Olympians won't likely bring in many viewers either.
Wait, the movie awards only got 1 million *****! I'm scared now to see what the VMAs are gonna be like.

Im pretty sure VMAs were always more popular though. That show makes headlines all the time.
I have to dvr the shows and so do my friends.
I feel like these type of shows only cater to superfans like us. Casuals don't appreciate the competition aspect of this show.

MTV has found it's new foot hole! Ratings went up to 635k likely because it lead into Fear Factor which was a jaw dropping 936k viewers.

It aired before fear factor though ?. You guys really think people were that excited for fear factor that they tuned in an HOUR early ?. If champs vs pros was to piggy back off fear factor. Would make more sense if it had aired after fear factor ended ?.
Ratings were that high thanks to Queen Tia sending Camila to outer space.
