It's called being political/strategic something every rookie/underdog has LACKED since Jordan on Free Agents. Tony attempted to be the leader of the pack and failed. Nelson is doing what's smart and people like that go far.
My question is why does Nelson have any kind of leadership role? Skeletons and Explosion + Kailah should have teamed up from the jump and they could've ran over everyone.
