Just binged watched some Real World seasons that aired around 06 - 09 (my high school years). Saw Brooklyn, Key West, and Hollywood. Currently watching Denver and will see Sydney after. I wanted to give my thoughts on them because it would be cool to revisit those seasons.I'll start with Key West.I had to prepare myself to watch a full season of "John" again because I've seen enough of him on the challenge already but Key West was actually a great season. The Real World had two stale seasons (Philadelphia and Austin) before this so I thought Key West was a good follow up. The roommates were together a fun and likeable group. They were refreshing because none of them had to hook up with each other all season. The closest instance we got was Zach crushing on Svetlana but she had a boyfriend at home. Paula's struggle with anorexia and her abusive boyfriend is the highlight story of the season because it was so real and the roommates really were concerned about her. The roommates also had to deal with a hurricane that destroyed their hotel and I would have been scared if I was in their situation. Tyler also provides a lot of the drama and establishes himself as the season's villain. The Key West finale is the still the best I've seen so far because it was pretty emotional. Paula leaving each roommate a letter while they're all sleeping and at the same time, she reads it during a confessional and it cuts to a clip of each roommate reaching out to her at different points of the season was well done. And the episode ends with Paula saying "I don't think they realized that they saved my life."
Thoughts on each roommate
Zach: I liked him. He was nice and laidback and he's the type of person you could easily get along with in real life, but he was too boring for this show. I didn't think he needed to be dramatic though as there were enough personalities providing that.
Jose: See Zach's description, only Jose was actually funny. He had a couple of one liners that cracked me up and he had a silly but hilarious fight with Janelle.
Paula: The season's best castmember. She and Johnny also went at it a couple of times and they really threw low blows at each other but it made for an interesting season. She and Svetlana also had a nice friendship and her goodbye to Jose in the finale was so emotional.
Janelle: I thought Janelle would be more confrontational but she actually wasn't bad so it made her kind of a boring roommate. She also was edited to be Tyler's lapdog, but it was nice seeing her and Svetlana make up and develop a friendship as the season progressed.
Tyler: The season's villain. To be honest, I hated Tyler. But he served his role well because without him, the roommates would have gotten along too much. That house needed someone to stir shit up because old school John wasn't going to. His rivalry with Svetlana is one of the best highlights of the season, but he also had a legit rivalry with John here too.
John: The annoying but lovable fratboy is the best way to describe him. Because he really was genuine here. He still was an ******* but more sympathetic and caring than he is now. It's like two different people comparing John to Johnny Bananas.
Svetlana: She really was a brat and she was annoying at times, but she was also likeable and funny other times. Svetlana was just really young and immature but she still got along with her roommates especially John and Paula.
Highlights of the season: the ongoing Tyler vs Svetlana feud which led to him making a burn book about her, the hurricanes destroying their hotel room, Paula's entire story
The only highlight from KW for me was the hurricanes cause that was so different and crazy. Paula I found extremely annoying. Janelle who? Jose who? Zach who? It was just an eh season at best for me. Glad you enjoyed it tho
I was watching the London season today since it was on MTV Classic and although overall the season was on the boring side (also pretty hard to follow up a new season when the previous one had people like Puck and Pedro), it was pretty cool to see how independent they were. It was great to see each of them pursue their aspirations such as stand-up comedy and becoming a pilot instead of singing and modeling. I also loved that they did a lot of team bonding on their weekend get away. Plus the fact that Sharon didn't have a tiny model frame reminded me that roots of the show were truly about choosing 7 strangers who were living in the REAL world. Most of that is not something you'd see on a current season

I was watching a bit of it too and it really was so different from what we see now. I mean these were 7 real people with real intrests persuing things that they wanted to do in life. You really don't see shit like that nowadays(at least on that level) so it really was cool to see.

that's so cool!!! Would love to see footage from RW: Stockholm and Visby!!!

Yasss boo Vancouver was lit for those first couple of minutes. Until the psycho shit started happening.
Quick question would you guys be down if the next twist was a live season ala Big Brother? b I mean we've have live aftershows, reunions so why not take the next step?
I know its a stretch but the thought just popped into my mind watching Hollywood.
in terms of skeletons, that season had waayyy more drama which kept the viewer more interested. there was not an episdoe of Skeletons where i was bored. skeletons also brought up more relevant issues imo as we saw violetta talk about her weight issues and Madison talk about how her relationships were runied by doing drugs, etc etc etc. the one thing i didn't like this season though is that some of the skeletons sucked and didn't bring anything to the table.
Ex-plosion. one thing i liked about this season is that this cast seemes to like each other more than season 30. there were plenty of funny moments and Jenny and Brian were perfection. as a whole the Ex-Plosion cast was more likeable outside of tokenwhite***** Thomas. season 29 was like a breath of fresh air. the one thing about this season that i didn't enjoy was that having the crew involved in so many episodes. made that season seem a bit more fake. plus a couple of the epiosdes in the beginning were mild.
overrall i prefer season 29. i only watch season 30 for the fights, but if i want to have fun and chilled vibes im choosing season 29.
So does anyone here have ANY clue as to why MTV NEVER shows the Las Vegas Reunion when airing marathons?! I would love to see it again after all these years.. but MTV acts like it never happened - even the marathon they are airing on MTV classic this weekend ends with the roommates leaving the house.. I remember a reunion!!!!

It might have something to do with Trishelle not being there..

Oh really? ****. Yeah, I didn't remember her not being there.. maybe you're right though, since that was a HUGE storyline. The reunion isn't even on the DVD lol..
Theo Von is such a idiot. He was on the radio show talking about nothing but his dead daddy. And then stated Road Rules was from 1999-2004 like the **** happened to the other 7 seasons *****?

I wonder would Real World consider doing a Social Media season like Bad Girls Club. I don't know how ratings will be but Bad Girls Club went from being almost dead to being one of the top trending topics tonight on Twitter. Although that might also have something to do with actually promoting the show and creating a good trailer which MTV and Bunim Murray fail miserably at when it comes to Real World.

I feel like they would be able to pull some actual social media "stars" but it's all in how they go about doing it.

It would help them long term too. Those people could bring in viewers for RW and Challenges
social media rw or a family season are two totally bad ideas. Just because BGC did it, which is really boring overall as a whole, doesn't mean RW should try it. Besides who would watch or try out for it not mention bloodliness flopped.

It's terrible. Like an off-brand Dane Cook.

I also wouldn't mind if they did an actual family season but quit with the fake surprises and just move all 14 people in the first night.
