tbh I haven't really loved any horror films since The Descent... nothing has really made me jump or gotten under my skin like that film. Some ones I liked recently (recent being the last 10 years or so.. lol)

The Loved Ones - Wolf Creek - Funny Games - PA3 - Trick 'r Treat - The Strangers - The Last House on the Left - The Crazies - Final Destination 5 - The Cabin In The Woods - The Conjuring - V/H/S - Evil Dead

Never understood why it was considered a horror film, but nonetheless, it was a great movie, both the 1972 and the remake.

Its revenge horror + torture **** at its finest (like I Spit on Your Grave)... I mean it's not scary, but not all horror movies have to be scary. The events of the film are horrific enough to make this a horror movie. The genre has a wide array of sub-genres... another reason to love horror! So much that can be done with it haha

I never said they were lol.. I just found them to be very well made horror movies. Horror is not all about being "scary".

Torture Horror/Psychological: The Loved Ones, Wolf Creek, Funny Games, TLHOTL, Final Destination

Jumpy/Gory Scary Movies: PA3, The Strangers, The Crazies, V/H/S, Evil Dead

Nostalgic Horror/Thriller: Trick 'r Treat, TCITW, The Conjuring

And this is the right categories for each of those movies !

Boring and lazy movies: The Last House on the left and The Strangers. Honestly, I'm sick of seeing this movie pop up as someone's favorite horror movie, nothing happenes for 90% of this movie except those crazy funny looking guys running around the house DOING NOTHING. And when something does happen it's a predictable jumpscare. And that ending....please -_- ! And supposedly it's a "Based on true events" movie and I'm like...BHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAH

Underrated horror movies: The Loved Ones (loved this) The Crazies, FD5 and V/H/S

Overrated horror movies: The Conjuring, PA3, The Cabin in the woods (super overrated)

Great horror movies: Trick r treat, Evil Dead (That's IF you are talking about the original)

I never heard of Funny Games though...

Speaking of scary movies, there isn't any good ones coming out this Halloween. I'm sad.

I know right !!! Horror movies that are out on October are just a bunch flop *** movies trying to grab coins just for being a "scary" movie and that it's halloween.

You should watch The Final Girls though, it's a horror comedy and it was pretty fun to watch. Better than anything coming out.

Agreed... Although I really want to see Crimson Peak (it looks amazing from the trailers and it's been getting good reviews)... and I do want to see the final PA movie just so I can actually know what the **** was really going on the whole time. The series asks so many questions but never answers any (supposedly the creators said this last one will do just that)

I never heard of Funny Games though...

I thought The Last House on the Left was brilliantly made... amazing cinematography for a horror film, some very good suspensful moments, and revenge that was just oh so good for a crime that was almost unbearable to watch.

The Strangers has great rewatchability power for me... at first I didn't like it because it was hyped up so much, but ever since seeing it a second time i've actually loved it! The suspense and creepy music were just top notch. The whole scenario is what gets me though... "because you were home"... wtf. So messed up. Maybe its not for everyone, but it's one of my favourites and i'm a huge horror buff.

The Conjuring was definitely overrated imo too... I didn't hate it, parts of it I loved (like the scene with the Warren's daughter & Annabelle).... but it just wasn't as scary as people made it out to be. I did love the whole feel of the movie though.. the sets were great, and had they not used most of the scares in the previews, I probably would have liked it much more.

TCITW is just an awesome meta film... it makes fun of the horror genre while also being a horror movie in itself. It's one of the most original horror films of the last 10 years, so that's why I have it on my list... original is hard to come by nowadays.

You should definitely check out Funny Games and Wolf Creek though!! Both are really great! The former may be more of a love it or absolutely hate it though... it's message is sort of a big "**** you" to the audience haha

Oops my bad, I thought you were talking about "House at the end of the street". But yes I take that back about the last house on the left, BUT I wouldn't call it "brilliant" AT ALL !

I really don't understand The Strangers, I HONESTLY think if a fan of that movie takes a second look at the events that happened, they will probably think the movie was stupid.

Here's some of my problems with the movie:

"Based on true events" no shit sherlock, 2 people were found dead in their home, whoopty ******* doo, that happens all the time.

The first half of the movie (actually the entire movie, but especially the first half) is extremely boring, nothing happens whatsoever.

The movie is FULL of cliches despite the director saying he avoided them. HA, what a joke !

The funny looking villains I guess, I really don't know what to call them are such trolls, all they do is run around the house, make noises, and have multiple opportunities to kill who they want to kill, but instead the director thinks it's scarier to play the "Now I'm here...now I'm not" game with the audience for about 99% of the movie. "omg, they were there just a second ago and now they aren't that's so scaryyyyyyyy" "omg they are standing there doing nothing...that's so scaryyyyyyyy" Please....

Also, the movie is beyond unrealistic and makes NO sense....so much for a "based on true events" movie tsk tsk

ALSO, that faceless ***** has the nerve to say at the end of the movie "It will be easier next time" WTF DO YOU MEAN IT WOULD BE EASIER NEXT TIME, WHEN YOU HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO KILL THEM IN THE FIRST 10 mins. OMFG WHAT A STUPID MOVIE !

After the credits roll, you end up not even knowing shit about the 2 characters and not even caring about their death.

As for the conjuring....YAY we agree on something !

TCITW was original in a way but not really at the same time, since a "horror movie poking fun of it cliches" was done before, and at this point in time even that has became a cliche since too many movies are doing so. Thank Wes Craven for that !

That's what you call taunting and tormenting your prey... They wanted to scare the couple in the house. They wanted to show how they can make them go crazy and freak the **** out!! haha They saw the fun in watching them suffer... so they had a little trouble rounding them up at the end, they still accomplished what they set out to do. Their purpose was never to just kill them right off the bat lol... the killers wanted to play a game of cat and mouse, just cause hahaha

The movie is more about making you think what you would do in that situation... home alone, in a cottage, with masked vigilantes stalking your home. I don't know.. I found it pretty creepy :/

The whole satire of the horror genre has been done to death, but they put an awesome spin on it... having the movie strangely cut back and forth from two guys working in a futuristic facility to your classic cabin in the woods horror movie. It was genius. Not overrated at ALL. Plus the cast was all pretty great.. Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford were hilarious!! Sigourney was perfectly cast as well (though Jamie Lee would've also been good haha). Pretty amazing cast for what would assume was a typical horror film!

Not really. Coming up from behind a person with a knife and slowly approaching them, then disappearing when the movie cuts to a different camera angle isn't tormenting your "prey" since the prey isn't even aware you were behind them in the first place ! Also I just want to point out the fact that "the strangers" had to be running their ***** off whenever it cuts to a different camera angle, that would of been hilarious and better to watch honestly !

Not to mention, the movie is full of annoying cliches and jumpscares, and it also doesn't help when there is NO character development so you really are just waiting for them to die already and gtfo (that was in my case lol).

The movie is more about making you think what you would do in that situation... home alone, in a cottage, with masked vigilantes stalking your home. I don't know.. I found it pretty creepy :/

Well if that's the goal of the movie, then they are making their audience aware of how stupid the 2 people in the movie are !

Don't get me wrong, I did like the movie alot, but people made it seem as if it's a "movie that you will remember even in your grave" or as if the movie was gonna re-write the horror genre like Scream did. It wasn't scary (I know it wasn't supposed to be scary) It was funny. It was clever. But it also had some flaws

Super Overrated imo.

We shall agree to disagree then haha

hahahaha i ONLY put Darkness Falls up there because as a kid I was terrified of that movie (flashbacks to getting a couple of teeth pulled and coming home to find my sister and friends watching this.. then deciding to watch along with them)... As cheesy and campy as it was, it had so many jump scares I couldn't even count... I love a movie that can make me jump out of my skin (especially when i was like 10 lol). Yeah I couldn't sleep in the pitch black dark for weeks after that (#shamefulsecrets) - it's a great horror movie for kids that are still losing their baby teeth, lets just put it at that. Underrated imo

Also note that I said English movies only... and I did tip my hat to the AMAZING Rec. But I still quite thoroughly enjoyed Quarantine and what they did with it... <3 Jennifer Carpenter.

I decided to share with you guys (whether you like/appreciate/want it or not lol) a list that shows my 10 favorite films that my lucky precious eyes were able to see so far !

Instead of posting the whole list at once, I much rather post each entry, each day. So are you guys ready ? No ? I don't care lol

Coming at Number 10:

#10 The Hunt (2012)

IMAGE(</span><span style="line-height: 1.5;"><a href="https://fanart.tv/fanart/movies/103663/movieposter/the-hunt-53ea21bc86a64.jpg">https://fanart.tv/fanart/movies/103663/movieposter/the-hunt-53ea21bc86a6...</a></span><span style="font-weight: 600; line-height: 1.5;">)

The Hunt is a story about a kindergarten teacher's life turning upside down in every way, shape and form because of a simple lie !

The teacher is played by Mads Mikkelsen who you may know as Hannibal Lecter or Le Chiffre from Casino Royale. He plays your normal everyday type of guy, a very likeable person that you would even hang out with, he is divorced and is struggling over his son's custody but that doesn't bring him down, in fact his life slowly gets better but just when it does, a student of his accuses him of rape, and just like that his whole life is destroyed.

Mads does a phenomenal job at playing his character, and portraying the emotions it faces. During the movie, you actually feel and root for the teacher, you want him to succeed and get better so badly.

The movie really doesn't have a specific "bad guy", it doesn't take anyone's side in fact it shows everyone's perspective of the situation in hand, and you just feel the creepy and eerie atmosphere growing thicker and thicker as the film progresses.

This is a foreign movie with subtitles.

The writing is very realistic, the performances are excellent, the events are emotionally draining and the entire film is a great piece of art.

definitely recommend this to any human being alive. Please look for this movie and watch it, trust me it's worth it Smile

OUUUUUU!!! Im interested in seeing the hunt Darkfights!!! Thanks for recommending it!
