What I am not understanding is why they just aren't putting everyone right away. Its fiction so people prob don't really care and don't get excited to see it.

TJ Lavin: This challenge works a bit differently from any other. We'll have a mission where one male and one female will win. Then, everybody but the winners will vote three players into the pit of each sex. The winners will come in and choose to save one man and one woman. If they can't agree on who to save, they will be in the pit and must choose one of the pit nominees of their sex to compete against in the pit.
Aneesa: This challenge is so different because it's like...if you win, you could be safe or you could be going home if you can't agree with your partner. It definitely throws a twist in the game.

Today's mission is called "Shot Down", each of you will be on a pedestal over this river and we'll give all of you paintball guns. Above each pedestal is a target, once that target is hit, it will release the pedestal and the player on it, into the lake eliminating them from the competition. The last man and woman standing today will be our mission winners who will be safe from being nominated into the pit. Good luck!

What I am not understanding is why they just aren't putting everyone right away. Its fiction so people prob don't really care and don't get excited to see it.

TJ Lavin: I want to welcome you all to the brand new challenge...The Pit! This will be the craziest challenge, hands down. I'm TJ Lavin and I'll be your host this season.
Everyone claps
Kendal: I'm thinking that the pit sounds like it's going to be one hell of a challenge. I'm very excited.
TJ Lavin: This challenge works a bit differently from any other. We'll have a mission where one male and one female will win. Then, everybody but the winners will vote three players into the pit of each sex. The winners will come in and choose to save one man and one woman. If they can't agree on who to save, they will be in the pit and must choose one of the pit nominees of their sex to compete against in the pit.
Aneesa: This challenge is so different because it's like...if you win, you could be safe or you could be going home if you can't agree with your partner. It definitely throws a twist in the game.
TJ Lavin: In the end, two teams of four will be created and one team will win the final mission and 300,000 dollars to be split amongst the team.
Everyone cheers and claps
Janelle: We've got 24 people competing for 300,000 dollars so it's bound to get pretty ugly pretty fast.
TJ Lavin: For now, I want you guys to get settled in at your new house and relax until your first mission.

Mark: I'm just shocked that an argument of that magnitude happened on the first night of a challenge. It's only going to get uglier from here.
The next morning the challengers are shown arriving at a beach where they see TJ
TJ Lavin: Hey guys, hope you rested well because it's time for your very first challenge. Today's mission is called "Shot Down", each of you will be on a pedestal over this river and we'll give all of you paintball guns. Above each pedestal is a target, once that target is hit, it will release the pedestal and the player on it, into the lake eliminating them from the competition. The last man and woman standing today will be our mission winners who will be safe from being nominated into the pit. Good luck!

Aneesa (To Camera): I'm not really nervous. I'm hoping for the best but at the end of the day this mission is just a popularity contest so whoever has the most friends will win.
TJ Lavin blows the horn and the players start shooting
Dunbar: ***oon as TJ blows the horn, all hell breaks loose. Everybody's shooting at everybody. There's no real order...
Shauvon, Ashli, Ryan and Davis are all shown dropping
Robin: I'm not gonna lie. It felt damn good to watch that ***** fall into the lake. I'd watch it all day.

Brooke is shown having a difficult time trying to use her paintball gun
Brooke: It's no secret that I've never used a paintball gun before. Seriously, I have no idea what to do.

Tyler: My strategy this challenge was to try to lay under the radar. They figured I wouldn't know what to do, but they have no idea.
Tyler is shown shooting Dunbar's target, releasing Dunbar into the lake

Trisha: These******* totally teamed up to get me out of the game. I like it, because it proves that I'm a real threat to these girls.
Paula: We're not intimidated by her. We just don't like her. There's a big difference.
Brooke finally fires her gun, but accidentally shoots at her own target, releasing her into the lake
Coral: This challenge is basic politics. So I team up with Kendal, Robin and Kina and we target Janelle and Paula.

Brad and Mike are shown teaming up to shoot down Tyler before competing head to head against each other

Brad: It feels awesome to start this challenge off with a win. It's the best feeling right now.

TJ Lavin: Congrats to Coral and Brad for winning the mission today. Now I need everyone else to deliberate and vote three men and three women to be nominated for the pit.
Everyone gathers in the living room of the house
Dunbar: So how do we start this thing off?
Mark: Is anybody gonna volunteer?
Theo: I think we should have some sort of a system. If somebody gets nominated now, they can't go in for the next two rounds and-
Robin: I think we should vote now. My vote is Shauvon, Trisha and Ashli. You girls brought a negative energy in the house-
Shauvon: My vote is for Kina, Kendal and Paula. You three did the best so that's how I'm voting.
Aneesa: I'm playing my own game...so I'm gonna vote the way that I want to. I have no alliances coming out here.
Aneesa: I love you girls but, my vote is for Kina, Robin and Kendal.
Robin: I'm totally thrown off guard. Like are you ******* serious, Aneesa?
Robin: You know what, you want ******* nominees, it'll be me and Aneesa.
Aneesa: You're volunteering both of us?

Tyler: Kenny and his crew think that they run the game, it's my goal to change that. I'm sending each of them home, one by one.
Mike: Uh...I think I'll volunteer myself.
Mike: I think I can volunteer myself because most likely I'll be saved over Davis and Kenny. So what do I have to lose?

TJ Lavin: Okay, the nominees have been made clear. For the women, we have Aneesa, Robin and Kina. For the men, we have Davis, Kenny and Mike. You two must deliberate and agree to save one man and one woman from the pit. If you two do not agree, you two will be in the pit against one of the nominees.
Brad and Coral go off to deliberate

Coral: It only makes sense.
Coral: I'll be ****** if I'm in power and I can't save Mike from the pit. It just ain't happening.

Brad: We've decided to save Mike and Robin from the pit.
TJ Lavin: That means tonight we have Aneesa competing against Kina, and Kenny competing against Davis! It's gonna be a good one.
