The Challenge: Unpopular Opinions

Since everyone is giving their two cents on Free Agents, I will too.

Overall- I thought Free Agents was the most creative format that they have ever come up with. The way they incorporated Gauntlet format challenges, with Rivals challenges, with Duel challenges was awesome. I really enjoyed how unpredictable the game was. Some story lines like the Jordan/Johnny rivalry and the Laurel/Cara Maria fight were too predictable because we knew we would eventually see them in the elimination round. But overall, I enjoyed it. Overall as a season I would give it a 7.5/10.

Casting- I can agree with everyone else. Since it wasn't a themed challenge that would limit casting, I felt like they could have got a better cast together. However, I'm not as ignorant as some people on here, so I actually take time to think that a lot of the old school cast members that people wish were on all these challenges maybe are over them or maybe weren't available. I would give the casting overall a 6/10.

The Final Challenge- I thought the final itself was cool. Probably the one final I would want to do since there was no eating portion. However, the people involved were absolutely awful and 100% predictable. Bananas and Laurel winning was so given. I liked the Draw because of the unpredictability of the game, but I hated it because it gave people like Nany, Devyn, and Johnny a free ride to the end. If the final challenge would have been Bananas, CT, and Johnny/Zach/Jordan for the guys and Laurel, Cara Maria, and Theresa for the girls, that final challenge would have been gold. Final challenge gets a 5/10.

The Challenges- some of the challenges had a really cool old school feel to them. Out on a Ledge, Auto Body Rally, Bounce Out, Dug Out, and Crossover were all really cool/fun to watch. These days you can't have a season of The Challenge without timed/heights/over the water challenges, so we were stuck with Bar Crawl and Piggy Back. Thankfully enough, we only had to suffer through two of them. Hold That Pose was kinda dumb. I always find the trivia challenges really entertaining and it seems like they are doing a trivia challenge every season now, which I do like. The challenges get an 8/10.

Free Agents was a perfect format. There's no way to stop alliances so I don't know why everyone expected there to be none. Free Agents was a breath of fresh air since people were split up every week preventing a Cutthroat situation where the same people will always be in power the entire season regardless of the outcome.

The only way for there to be no alliances is if the last place team/person automatically goes in and  the other team/person goes in is decided by the draw. Which in my opinion would be such a boring season to watch. That is the kind of drama I like about the challenge; the game drama and if that was taken away we would be stuck with dumb drunken house drama. The drama about alliances and the strategy of the game is why I enjoy these shows. I hate the stupid drunken house drama that we saw on Seasons, Frank/Dustin, Frank/Nany, Knight/Nany, Derek/Nany, Derek/Robb, etc. It was so stupid and it felt very forced.

Even on Rivals II with Anastasia/CT, Frank/CT, Knight/Jemmye, pretty much anyone/Camila, Knight/Marlon, Aneesa/Trishelle. Those fights were so dumb. I feel like the rule with guys vote girls and vice versa killed that season. It would have been so much more entertaining to see which guys teams were at each others throats. With the Rivals II voting process comes stupid hook up drama which is what I don't care for.

Rivals had virtually no game drama because the voting ceremonies were on lock the entire game and nothing ever got interesting.

Even though it was a boring season because of poor casting, Fresh Meat II had awesome political game drama, probably the best we have had. I think the Fresh Meat voting style is the best where the winners choose one team and the rest of the house votes another. It provides so much drama instead of the last place team automatically goes in and then the winners decided someone else. Its over too quick and all the blood is on one persons/pairs hands.

Piggy back was much better than bounce out IMO. I hated the way bounce out was played.

No it didn't. None of the drama that season game or otherwise was worth a damn. Exes 2 had good game drama and it destroys Fresh Meat 2 at every turn(IMO of course).

But I agree on the voting style though. I actually think that is the best voting style ever seen on these shows. Too bad it was wasted on a ****** season.

I agree. I liked seeing every team contribute by voting for someone. The last-place team going into elimination is fair but the other teams (with the exception of the power team) don't get to do anything else.

I think if Camila was mentally there that season then she would have beat Theresa IMO. Even everyone in there interviews were like this is not the Camila I know so I think if she were in the right state of mind, she could have outlasted Theresa because she doesn't give up and Theresa is mentally weak and would have given up.

theresa is mentally weak in regards to playing the sociopolitial game but not when it comes to giving up before her physical abilities are exhausted. theres been near zero instances in the past where shes given up in a physical event

I watched Exes II, but I guess I didn't get into it or pay attention to it as much as previous seasons. I'm sure I'll rewatch the season once it is on amazon prime instant video. And yeah, Exes II was much better than Fresh Meat II, I personally think Fresh Meat II was one of the worst/boring seasons, but the strategic game drama in it was great. Thats pretty much what the entire season was and that is how I like it. Every challenge has its politics but Fresh Meat II was all politics.

Since it's being talked about in another thread.

Now that I think of it I actually really like Tori. I found her *****iness kind of funny/entertaining lol She's a solid competitor too winning 2/3 challenges.

her 2/3 wins sure look awesome on paper but its sad that the titles are her only real feats and the actual processes and efforts that lead up to them were so weak and immaterial

Yeah Free Agents had some of the best missions in a LONG time. They're so underappreciated. I remember on Exes 1 how practically ever challenge was over water and timed/or the top 2 teams faced off again. It was so repetitive... we got to see various types of challenges on Free Agents.

Tori along with every other girl from The Gauntlet III Rookies team that won are most undeserving "champions" to ever be on this show. She beat Melinda (one of the weakest girls ever) on The Gauntlet III and wanted to quit; she didn't win a single challenge on The Duel 2, lost her only Duel against Aneesa, and once again threatened to quit; and on Cutthroat she was on a team with her husband and all of her own friends and her husband's friends, went into one elimination round (that she would have lost if she actually faced who she should have faced) that Tina threw so she would win, and was carried majority of the final challenge. Oh yeah! And she wanted to quit.

I thought Jillian deserved the win...the other 3 not so much.

Yeah. Only Frank/Jillian/Nehemiah deserved to win IMO.

Yeah. Only Frank/Jillian/Nehemiah deserved to win IMO.

Random question that has absolutely nothing to do with Frank, Jillian, or Nehemiah winning The Gauntlet III. But why did you like Battle of the Seasons (2012) so much?

Yeah. Only Frank/Jillian/Nehemiah deserved to win IMO.

Random question that has absolutely nothing to do with Frank, Jillian, or Nehemiah winning The Gauntlet III. But why did you like Battle of the Seasons (2012) so much?

Damn that is random.

The reason why I liked it so much is because it was such a breath of fresh air for the challenges. It had a sense of freshness and newness that hasn't really been seen on the challenges and will NEVER happen again sadly. The newer RW seasons were being properly represented which is what I've been wanting for awhile at that point. For once in a long time we didn't have to sit through the same old overexposed vets do the same tired shit. It was a new game with new challengers that can play the game THEIR way without the vets there to **** it all up.

I also like the format 8 teams of 4 people each rerpesenting their respective season. It was very unique and a far cry from the first seasons.

Most of the missions harken back to the golden era of the challenges and weren't as greuling and taxing as recent seasons had become in that department.

The drama was actually fun and exciting to watch. Alot of the drama on past seasons pror to that were angering/depressing/shit that I didn't care about.(Although it did go a bit far a couple of times though).

Overall it was just a fresh and exciting change of pace for the show and that's why I love it so much. It's a top 10 season for me.

I think she was always a solid competitor every season. Yeah she threatened to quit a lot and was kind of annoying but when it came to it she was always an above average athlete. Honestly, I think she was just as good if not better than Jillian on Guantlet 3.   I don't really remember her ever performing poorly.

I agree with you about the missions. They were really good. I just wish it would've had a rotation that went like this throughout the whole season:

team challenge, pair challenge, individual challenge

The one on one elimination rounds were my favorite thing about Free Agents. There were so many good matches like Jemmye vs. LaToya, Cara Maria vs. Nia, Cara Maria vs. Jessica, etc.

Tori played the little "sweet Southern belle" card so much, but she really deep down was a *****. She was *****y towards Frank and Jillian all through the Gauntlet 3 and we all know how she acted on Cutthroat. The only time I tolerated her was on Viewers Revenge.

Speaking of the Gauntlet 3, I think Coral was the best person to ever quit a challenge. She left so unbothered and her whole team got pissed because they had to nominate someone else to go in against Ev (which was weird because they wanted all their girls besides Ev to go anyways).

All of this. The veterans were a bunch of hypocrites and I'm glad karma came back to bite them in the final challenge. They used Coral to get rid of Beth so I don't blame her for walking out on them. Casey "stepping up" to go against Evelyn did not deserve a round of applause. I will never understand why the veterans wanted to sacrifice Coral into the gauntlet over Casey and Robin.

that season would of been better if at the end of each daily challenge the winning team would get money added to their team bank account.  the men probably wouldnt of thrown missions.  both teams made skeptical calls.  the vets throwing in johnny or danny.  the rookies calling out jillian over weak *** rachel.  and the rookies thinking adam was the most valuable person.  i thought it was funny how tyrie and rachel thought they were actually good.  i wish jenn was on that season.  she would have had a win.

Because Coral wasn't afraid to stand up to the guys and do what she wanted. Robin and especially Casey would do whatever the guys said. Also, Coral would have thrown challenges on the Guys days which would have jeopardized the guys positions in the game and wouldn't have cared who she fought because she felt she could beat anyone of them, however, some say she quit because she was afraid to face Evelyn. Casey would have lost to anyone on her team so she wasn't going to take a chance of the vet guys throwing her in and Robin was paranoid as all hell and didn't want to take the chance of the vet guys sending her in either.

Especially the last part... That's what they get for 1. keeping easy til the final over johnny and 2. saving casey over coral

the only chance they had to throw easy in was against evan who they didnt want to risk.  they didnt know sliders would of been chosen.  imagine if it was a physical elimination and they lost evan, their second strongest cast member.

Yeah. Only Frank/Jillian/Nehemiah deserved to win IMO.

10. Battle of the Exes 2

I put a detailed version in the fantasy/favorite thread if you care to check that out. 4 of yours are also on mine.

the only chance they had to throw easy in was against evan who they didnt want to risk.  they didnt know sliders would of been chosen.  imagine if it was a physical elimination and they lost evan, their second strongest cast member.

They should've went ahead and threw Evan in. They could've done without him.

i think having easy and evan is better than having easy and johnny.

I personally wish there were more Emily's, zach and ct's on the challenges. I'm not saying everyone has to be some cross fit monster, but I enjoy watching the physical competition aspect of the game.

I agree like look at free agents was there anyone who wouldve even come close to beating Laurel in an elimination ?
