The Challenge: Unpopular Opinions

I don't think everyone has to be extremely athletic on The Challenge. There are people who have brought a lot to the show like Beth, Devyn and Katie because they were entertaining. Not everyone has to be an Emily or Laurel.

The truth.

One thing I didn't like in The Guantlet 2 was how they had the teams face they own team members in The Gauntlet. I think it would've been better if they had the setup the first one did and had both teams vote in one person so it would be Vet vs Rook in The Gauntlet.

It would have been okay in my opinion if there weren't so many quitters on that season

What do you mean? Only Beth and Cameron quit(Oh and Jisela too but 3 isn't alot).

Jo quit too, How could you forget one of the biggest meltdowns in challenge history ?

Well she didn't pop into my mind immediately.

though Exes 2 came close.

Exes 2 would have been better had it been Thomas & Hailey in Jay & Jenna's place.

I agree with this. I don't get why people think everyone has to be some crossfit freak in order to be on the challenges and compete. This is not sports and people can contribute to this show in several other way as well and we've seen that time and again.

And yes I would've been awesome to see Thomas/Hailey run that final. They probably do better than Jay/Jenna.

The Island was an interesting twist and should return.

Battle of the Seasons 2 was the best season of The Challenge since Cutthroat and no season since then has topped it.

agreed, though Exes 2 came close.

I actually liked Free Agents more than Exes 2, but liked Exes 2 more than Rivals 2. I enjoyed Free Agents from start to finish. Exes 2 didn't get interesting to me until the final 3 or 4 episodes. And I hated the final challenge.

right, these people are supposed to be reality television stars...pedestrians that personally relate to us. anyone who comes on here as an aspiring athlete is pathetic IMO, like they know they couldnt make it into the olympics or some real sport so theyre trying to prove themselves against a bunch of alcoholics with suburban couch potato lives...*cough emily *cough zach *cough CT. youre not supposed to take these chalelnges that seriously

i guess if you know you cant hang with people in the MMA then the next best thing is to go to preschool to pick a fight with some little kids to feel like youre superman

The Island was my favorite season.  #LOLJK

But it was one of my faves.

I think Lucci Vee is real.

for some weird reason i disliked Free Agents, though i don't know why. in my best words, FA got boring for me by the time Aneesa was kicked off and it just seemed predictable. while BOE@ i couldn't wait for another episode.

one bright side about FA is that most of the elimination's didn't dissapoint in the level of intensity, however i was able to predict who would beat who. without even looking at spoilers.

i want ot hear why some of y'all disliked Free Agents.

The commercials for Free Agents promoted that it was a "no teams, no alliances" type of season which was funny because the majority of the missions involved teams and there were still alliances in the game. It didn't feel like an individual game at all. I remember LaToya said in an interview that they weren't really "free agents" until they went into eliminations and I completely agree with her.

I would've also liked if ALL of the losing players of the mission were sent to the draw in every elimination.

I thought the season was alright. I really didn't care for the stupid Bananas vs. Jordan drama because it seemed forced. The season premiere is one of my favorite episodes though because it had an old school vibe. I also liked the return of one-on-one eliminations. Like you, I was more excited each week for Exes II than I was for Free Agents. I liked how people were more ballsy on that challenge and were making moves to benefit themselves in the game.

The cast on Free Agents made a lot of stupid moves IMO. For example: Chet/LaToya getting voted into the first elimination (Bananas was right saying that they should have voted in better competiors), Zach sending Swift into elimination when he could have sent a stronger player, CT and Zach voting in Cohutta when they should have voted in Bananas since he was their biggest threat)

i disliked free agents because i couldnt stand seeing laurel and her busted up man face the entire season

I liked Free Agents but i'll state parts of it I didn't like.

- For starters, the cast could've been a lot better than it was. There were no themes or anything to limit the cast so there was no reason that so many from Rivals 2 should've been on. It would've been a perfect time to reintroduce some old-schoolers and/or any rookies from Sydney - New Orleans 2 who hadn't had a chance to be on one at that point.

-EVERYBODY who lost the mission should've went into the Draw. They made the rules more complicated than they should've been.

-Not enough individuality. Like Justintime said it definitely didn't feel like a Free Agent type of game. Too many people still playing scared when they had all the reason in the world to finally play their own game.

-It was kinda boring at times. The Jordan/Johnny B. storyline was wack, Nany v.s. Camila was SUPER wack...it seemed like a lot of the good stuff happened off-season (Nia v.s. Jasmine/LaToya/Laurel, Laurel v.s. Theresa @ the reunion) than on the actual show. LaToya did provide some good moments on the season though.

-A personal gripe of mine lol but Aneesa kinda disappointed me with how she handled Laurel in the house. She let Laurel get away with saying a lil too much...why she didn't rip her a new one like she's done to people in the past I have no clue.

It was a good season but it definitely could've been a lot better.

I personally wish there were more Emily's, zach and ct's on the challenges. I'm not saying everyone has to be some cross fit monster, but I enjoy watching the physical competition aspect of the game.

I liked Free Agents but There were some things that were wrong with it.

The Cast-This could've been ALOT better. The theme wasn't limiting at all so BMP/MTV really should've took advantage of that. This challenge would've been the perfect one to introduce some old-schoolers who weren't overused, people from the forgotten seasons(Hollywood/DC) people who they ignore(Dan(Viewer's revenge)), Newer RW'ers who havent appeared yet and a few people who appeared on Seasons 2 but haven't done a challenge since then. But instead we got a ******* hodgepodge cast of people who appeared on the past 4 challenge prior. The ball got dropped there big time.

The girls and guys should've been allowed to play thier own games. When it came to voting the men should've only voted for the men and the women should've only voted for the women.

The Draw-The should've either 1) had all of the people who didn't win eliglbe for the draw or 2) have everyone suspectable to be voted into elimination and everyone who doesn't get their name called out goes into the draw.

The eliminations-I feel like the eliminations were all physical and favored bigger/taller people. They should've been a proper mix and balance of eliminations similar to Seasons 2. That would've made that season much more interesting IMO.

I personally wish there were more Emily's, zach and ct's on the challenges. I'm not saying everyone has to be some cross fit monster, but I enjoy watching the physical competition aspect of the game.

This is another thing: I don't understand why everyone is so hung up on the physcial competition aspect of the challenge. It's like everyone wants to see some huge knock-out drag out battle every challenge and every elimination. Don't get me wrong physical eliminations are good to watch(most of the time) but they're not the be-all end-all for this show(and in addition to that they can be a bit predictable and one sided). I'd rather have a good balance of eliminations similar to Seasons 2. Different eliminations that test different skills and talents. Not just combat beatdowns all the time.

Free Agents was a perfect format. There's no way to stop alliances so I don't know why everyone expected there to be none. Free Agents was a breath of fresh air since people were split up every week preventing a Cutthroat situation where the same people will always be in power the entire season regardless of the outcome.

Also Free Agents wasn't meant to be completely individual. The name is FREE AGENTS not "Individual". It was meant to show who is the best free agent, who can adapt to a new team/partner each week and survive? If most of it was individual it wouldn't fit the theme of the season. I really loved how they toyed around with having small teams of 3 and 4 and not just making 2 large teams. Each week there were new players in power and it always kept things interesting.

I wouldn't care if Free Agents was the permanent format for this show. I would love to see it again.

Also I don't get what you guys are saying when you say that people played scared and sheeped? A lot of people voted individually instead of just going with the group. We saw Aneesa get voted in for being a threat, Laurel voted in for being a threat, Bananas voted in for being a threat, etc. We didn't see any of that on the previous season..

So now for my slightly unpopular opinion.

I still think Theresa beat Camila fair and square. I don't mean to sound insensitve, but it doesn't make sense how Camila all of a sudden thought of her dad and lost focus during the elimination round. It seemed like she underestimated Theresa, started to get frustrated, lost, and then made up an excuse for her loss.

Agreed. Plus you could tell Theresa wanted it more.

Completely agree. Everyone gets so mad that there were rarely any individual challenges but that's not what Free Agents was meant to be. It was supposed to be mixed and matched teams all season. If they wanted all individual challenges they would have done Duel 3. And when it comes to Camila vs Theresa I do think Camila didn't just have it in her that season. Obviously she didn't randomly think of her dad during the elimination and that's why she lost but I just think she went into that challenge with the wrong mindset. It was obvious she didn't have that drive that she normally does because her head wasn't in the game. In most eliminations Theresa vs Camila could go either way in my opinion and although I give Theresa kudos for winning I don't think Camila was all into it that season.

The reason everyone thought that is because in EVERY damn promo TJ told us it was a individual game.

Because at the end of the day it is individual. Your team or partner aren't going to win your elimination rounds nor the final. There was one INDIVIDUAL female and one INDIVIDUAL male winner. No matter what you had to worry about yourself whether you were solo in a pair or on a team.

This isn't unpopular, at least it shouldn't be. Ms. Fail beat her 100%.

I agree. Camilla just got beat and she couldn't admit it so she made excuses. #takeitonthechin #noexcuses #noncastmember

I don't think she was making excuses because she even said that Theresa beat her fair and square in her interviews. Camila went into that season when her dad passed away a month prior so she wasn't in a good mental state.

I think if Camila was mentally there that season then she would have beat Theresa IMO. Even everyone in there interviews were like this is not the Camila I know so I think if she were in the right state of mind, she could have outlasted Theresa because she doesn't give up and Theresa is mentally weak and would have given up.
