We're probably only gonna get Backpack next season. I don't see CT doing next season and I doubt Wes will do it either.
Ideally none of them would be on but we all know that's not happening.
I'm okay with only one of them returning (preferably Wes), but it's weird how there hasn't been a season where none of the three have been on since Gauntlet 2. I'm not really a fan of having 'main characters' on a reality (game) show with a casting pool of 100+ :/
But eh, everyone has their favorites. A lot of mine don't show up anymore, so I just look for fresh faces to try liking. (no ayto though)
And this was never supposed to happen but here we are...hundreds of castmembers yet the entire show's fate rests on 2 people(I don't think people like Wes as much as the other two). The fact that so many on here actually don't mind or even like that shit is mind-boggling to me.
I agree 100 %. This show was never meant to have the same cast over and over again. People act like this is some sort of scripted show where the cast is the same every season. This show was not designed for that and it's boggles my mind that people don't understand that and actually WANT the same thing repeatedly.
I understand it wasn't designed to be this way, but I can't deny that it's comforting to turn on my TV and see people I've been following since high school. Maybe I'm way too into this show, but it's nice to have some things that never change. Whatever shit's going on in my life, I can tune into the Challenge every week and Bananas is still Bananas. Idk. I know the Challenge isn't everyone's comfort show so I can understand y'all's points too
Yeah. See I'm different. I like newness. I gravitate toward things that change and are new and don't stay the same. When it comes to Entertainment I'm not the one to get attached to certain characters were I won't watch if they're not it. I like seeing new stories, new drama, new conflict,..just new everything. I'm one of the few people that welcomes change when it comes to entertainment. And that's why I would rather see fresh newer casts on this rather than the same people I've seen a dozen times before. Especially if they don't do anything new.
Totally understandeable.
This article explains how I feel about the show really well: http://morningafter.gawker.com/mtvs-the-challenge-remains-perfect-157391... . "From its innumerable rivalries to romances to breakups to friendships, The Challenge rewards loyal viewers with something akin to long-form storytelling. It's a borderline saga." Continuously casting a lot of the same people is what lends the show its saga-like quality. And one of my favorite comments on the article: "It's like a modern day Greek tragedy where they're in this constant cycle of revenge against one another for that time 3 years ago they voted them into an elimination or that time they slept with someone's girl behind their back. The dynamics are like if you kept going back to summer camp every single year until your 30's. They make these really strong bonds but sort of drift apart in-between seasons, then they're back in the house and all making out and re-forming their cliques and then Jonny Bananas pulls out his ******* bobblehead, it is amazing. And TJ and his never changing wardrobe is a thing of beauty. I can't wait until he's 50 and still in the flat billed hats."
If it's anyone that doesn't need to get casted it's Trishelle's punk ***. That ***** made a bad name for herself her last 2 seasons. Had my girl Nany step up into a suicide mission when she ******* lost, then quit on Sarah because of HER actions. Trashelle ugh. IDK why I brought her up lol probably because I saw Alton's name...
I'd love to see her back. She proved herself as a strong competitor in season 2, and she played it smart. She knew if she stepped up she'd be going home, and she played the game. It was a great move for her game. And yeah she quit in rivals 2, Her and Sarah could have made it to the finals so that sucks. I dont think she made a bad name for herself at all.
"(C)asted" is not a word. It doesn't exist. Even Robyn K***, the famous LA reality casting expert has gone off on people on Twitter recently for the improper form of the verb "cast."
LOL thanks English Teacher
It's not about English, it's about not looking stupid in front of your peers, and perhaps more importantly, in front of the people at MTV and BMP who do, in fact, draw conclusions about this site and the people who post here. If you don't want to be thought of as a TV Neanderthal, it's "cast, cast and cast" for all the verb forms, including its use in the subjunctive mood, e.g., "If you were cast..." Personally, I'd rather be ***ociated with people whose clue bag is not empty.
So they have time to worry about people's grammar from a site they supposedly don't like but can't bother to ask for any opinions on making some changes or even ask to give them some ideas? Such organized & upstanding companies they are.
No, how silly... They don't worry about anyone's grammar, but they from opinions about people from how they communicate as much as they do with regard to the content on their communication.
From here on out we will see the same people over and over again because if any of you have noticed, that's how shows are made up these days. For instance, Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, Vanderpum Rules, all the Real Housewives shows, Preachers of LA, those Little Women, etc. all have the same people each season just add or take away a couple of people and these shows are a success. They get renewed no questions asked.
Which is why I think the challenge cast the same people each season because they have built a fanbase, people want to see them each season. They bring drama, competition, etc. CT, Bananas, Wes are coming back each season if they can and this is why so some of you are right. And they pay big bucks to have them. Nene Leakes has been on Real Housewives since season 1 and that will continue till she quits. Love her or hate her she brings it each season. Beth is not recurring, nor is Darrell, they've been off the grid so long that they won't bring in viewers or at least the viewers they want so they don't get cast. And for their audience they want young and current not "older" and late. CT, Wes, Bananas, Aneesa, Paula, Diem, stayed current through the years they grew in to the audience change.
Also, I think this is why Real World has played out. Changing the cast each season hurts the show and obviously that's how the show works but that format is played out which is why the Real World is in the position it is in. Teen Mom OG returned to big numbers because its the same interesting girls each season. They are like the Real Housewives of MTV lol and people love that shit! I watched it and even liked it. Hopefully, next season they add another girl to keep things interesting. Jersey Shore same people each season and people watched. The Hills, Laguna Beach. MTV needs more shows like this. Not this shit where things change completely each season. You can't build a connection that way. Skeletons ended with no reunion no nothing and people are dying to see them on The Challenge again just to see what they are up too.
So The Challenge will have the same faces from here on out. Add some take some away some, but not too many. As for bad ratings-- I think they can get over a million each episode if they pick a good not so busy night to air and it comes on at 10pm. Sadly though like articles have been saying, too many people watch tv either not live or the next day online so they lose ratings. Plus, this is MTV and its become irrelevant sooo yeah but I believe had Exes 2 come on at 10 the numbers would have been better.
Sorry for the GD style book *****
Well this show is nothing like any of those other shows & if they are trying to make the switch to "reality" TV then it's time to just cancel this shit. This is supposed to be an competitive reality show, you don't need to "build a connection" unless it's on a per-season basis. Survivor/Big Brother/The Amazing Race/America's Next Top Model have all lasted this long with changing casts. All of them have had returnees and all-star casts but the cast is pretty much different every season.
They cast the way that they do now because they shot themselves in the foot long ago with this bullshit. Casting the same people over & over and ignoring others who could've been great additions, now we have people who won't watch unless it's the same old shit every season. What kind of competition show is supposed to be like that?
Well ANTM is on the verge of being canceled which is why it's changing each season format wise. Survivor/Big Brother/TAR don't compare to the challenge because you watch those shows expecting to see a complete 360 in cast because that's the set up. Also, TAR is not doing as well as it use too. Survivor at one point was struggling and with the wrong cast selection you can get this season, same thing with BB. And for a competition show that is fine especially one on primetime that will automatically get more than a million viewers. However, the challenge is made around recurring characters with new additions coming in each season but the majority being returning players. And yes you build connections with these people. Diem is a prime example. Seeing her so many seasons you rooted for her to win not on the challenge but her personal life as well. Because you built a connection seeing her regularly. Which is why shows built around recurring cast and regulars are doing so well because people gravitate towards those more than shows like BGC and RW where things change each season and once its done you may not here from that person. Then comes The Challenge a way to see favorites that bring something to the show on a recurring bases.
Well this show is on the verge of being cancelled too, moreso than ANTM so something is not working & their repetition is a huge part of that. People do not want to see the same thing over & over; as much as people say the casual fans are the apex, the casual "fans" really don't give a **** about this show. As soon as it's cancelled they will move on to something else or go follow Johnny wherever he goes.
I understand that this show differs in the fact that it has returning players each season, the thing is it doesn't need to be the SAME returning players season after season. These shows you are taking about that are built around recurring characters are also shows that have heavy scripting involved, like any variation of Love & Hip Hop (as much as Mona Scott Young wants to say otherwise). Those shows are known as "reality" TV: they use real people with their real names & somewhat real situations, but they do things like set up fake meetups to purposely create drama, have them fight & argue on Twitter to create hype for upcoming seasons, etc. None of that shit is real so saying that these shows need to go in the direction of that is a no-no. I've given my opinions on how I feel about this show having some rigged moments but they pale in comparison to these "reality" soap operas that are all the rage. This show is honestly one of the very last REAL reality shows still around.
If it's anyone that doesn't need to get casted it's Trishelle's punk ***. That ***** made a bad name for herself her last 2 seasons. Well if they're reading this, I'm personally telling them to go **** themselves. I hope that gives them a great opinion about Mr. Graphik
Instead of forming opinions about random, anonymous people on a forum they should concentrate their efforts into making better shows that people want to watch and/or stop ruining the two shows that put them on the map in the first place. If they're not asking the fans who've lasted with them this long about any constructive criticism on the show or any potential fans who cares what their opinions are about anything else?

Funny how big explosion cast was from the girls we are probably only getting Jenna, Ashley Mitchell and Hailey since they are the only ones that seem open to do one maybe Jenny after her pregnancy -.- Not complaining

I really think her getting in serious relationship made her change her mind about the challenges.
On twitter sombebody just asked Bruno if he indeed declined this season as he read on vevmo. He answered that person should send him the link to this site.
Keep hoping that he does this season. I think he's a great addition...

I don't know but Bruno is just made for The Challenge, he is TV gold in that specific environment. I would put him with Cory/Brian/Trey as the top 4 guy for the new guys for both competition and drama. Thomas/Jay/Jason/Tony/Swift/Robb don't give me that vibe.

I'm good with Hailey and Ashley M from Ex-Plosion. No complaints!
Jamie is such a liar. She just wants people to beg her to go on so she can get attention. I can't stand her ***.
Bruno is likely telling the truth, but I could see him going on one without giving hints, he wants it to be a suprise.
On twitter sombebody just asked Bruno if he indeed declined this season as he read on vevmo. He answered that person should send him the link to this site.

Ashley M!!!! YES!
Edit: That is who i think it is right? Arrieles girlfriend?
No, Arielle's girlfriend is Ashley Ceasar. Ashley Mitchell is the crazy-drunk one.
oh.. Meh

Smh he just gave his spot up to Jason. Oh well!
Thank God! I'm glad we don't have to put up with another season of Jamie
another guy who i wanted to be on challenge refuse to compete. Ryan leslie,Adam Royer and now Bruno . :@ i hate this so much.
Bruno is so concieted its disturbing. Ashley M. is all I need for this to be a good season tbh.
PREACH!!
Pretty much. Put Averey, Nia and Marie on the side and this could be the best season ever.

Jamie over JEKD/Jenna/Wes anyday
