I don't mind if Cara-Maria comes back but I don't see them using her unless they really have too.

I don't mind if Cara-Maria comes back but I don't see them using her unless they really have too.

I wish they didn't use her but I think it is very likely that she returns...unfortunately

right because bananas is better?

From here on out we will see the same people over and over again because if any of you have noticed, that's how shows are made up these days. For instance, Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, Vanderpum Rules, all the Real Housewives shows, Preachers of LA, those Little Women, etc. all have the same people each season just add or take away a couple of people and these shows are a success. They get renewed no questions asked.

Which is why I think the challenge cast the same people each season because they have built a fanbase, people want to see them each season. They bring drama, competition, etc. CT, Bananas, Wes are coming back each season if they can and this is why so some of you are right. And they pay big bucks to have them. Nene Leakes has been on Real Housewives since season 1 and that will continue till she quits. Love her or hate her she brings it each season. Beth is not recurring, nor is Darrell, they've been off the grid so long that they won't bring in viewers or at least the viewers they want so they don't get cast. And for their audience they want young and current not "older" and late. CT, Wes, Bananas, Aneesa, Paula, Diem, stayed current through the years they grew in to the audience change.

Also, I think this is why Real World has played out. Changing the cast each season hurts the show and obviously that's how the show works but that format is played out which is why the Real World is in the position it is in. Teen Mom OG returned to big numbers because its the same interesting girls each season. They are like the Real Housewives of MTV lol and people love that shit! I watched it and even liked it. Hopefully, next season they add another girl to keep things interesting. Jersey Shore same people each season and people watched. The Hills, Laguna Beach. MTV needs more shows like this. Not this shit where things change completely each season. You can't build a connection that way. Skeletons ended with no reunion no nothing and people are dying to see them on The Challenge again just to see what they are up too.

So The Challenge will have the same faces from here on out. Add some take some away some, but not too many. As for bad ratings-- I think they can get over a million each episode if they pick a good not so busy night to air and it comes on at 10pm. Sadly though like articles have been saying, too many people watch tv either not live or the next day online so they lose ratings. Plus, this is MTV and its become irrelevant sooo yeah but I believe had Exes 2 come on at 10 the numbers would have been better.

Sorry for the GD style book ***** Smile

Why does Backpack and Wes and CT always have to get casted every season?!

Because the target audience (casual fans, not the hardcore ones who will watch no matter who's on) loves them. They're the ones who get people to tune in.

Sorry, double post.

I totally understand this! The main reason I didn't enjoy Seasons 2 was because it was just too much new all at once. I can absolutely grow to love rookies in small doses once I see them interact with all the vets, form relationships and sort of get incorporated into the Challenge family. But the more new people there are, the less "family" exists for them to get incorporated into. People like Bananas, Wes, CT, Sarah and CM are what make watching the Challenge feel familiar and cozy, like coming home every week to these people you know and love (or hate, whatever).

Great post, do I need to say that I 100 % agree with it? I don't really have a problem with repetetive cast or if certain people get cast over and over and over again. I mean they are just 3 out of 28/30/32.

GD style book? ***** Smile

Don't apologize!

Sidenote: Maybe MTV needs to do a Real World Return to Madness season where people that ended the Real World experience with a bad ending come back to do this experience again...

Lol that could work, but they would need to come back each season for the show to grow that fanbase again. Honestly, they need to strip the Real World and make a show that is based around the same people each season. It needs to have a theme or setting. Like Vanderpum Rules is about some bartenders at a Hollywood resturant. They all work there and fight like casts and dogs. Something like that.

The Challenge: Blood vs Water. BELIEVE THAT.

This show has proven that new school competitors can become stars. Look at The Duel. More than half of the cast members were competing in their first or second challenge.

Rookies: Casey, Diem, Eric, Evan, Johnny Bananas, Kenny, Nehemiah, Paula, Svetlana, Tyler, Wes

The people in bold received huge fan bases because the audience was able to grow with them throughout the years. That's why they ended up appearing on multiple challenges . Although Johnny Bananas, Kenny, Paula and Tyler were eliminated early on this season, they were given chances to come back and they showed up in future seasons. Although Svetlana only did one challenge, a lot of viewers loved her and want her to come back.

The Duel also featured some veterans that the viewers loved.

Veterans: Aneesa, Beth, Brad, CT, Derrick, Jodi, Kina, Robin, Tina

All of these veterans were fan favorites and some of their fan bases grew after this season.

I just think that we need a great balance of rookies and veterans (some that we haven't seen in awhile) competing on next season! The Duel formula worked and turned out to be one of the best seasons ever IMO.

Bananas is getting his sixth win. Regardless of his competition. It's the cycle. He gets humiliated one season, wins the next.

He already broke his cycle, the Banana man used to win 2 in a row. But one thing i like about Bananas is the focus and determination he brings every season he comes back from a loss.

He even had it on exes 1, even though he won rivals.

The Challenge: Blood vs Water. BELIEVE THAT.

Not going to happen. And if it were to happen, it would flop. Because MTV would fail to cast the proper pairings.

lol I know. Just a joke based on the rumor that the fromat is one "we've never seen before but has (perhaps) been used by another network before"

isnt the entire appeal of the challenge that it's the real world cast favorites in a different setting, in a different environment, competiting and backstabbing for money? I feel like the real world kinda weeds out the dull cast members and grows a fan base for potential challenge contestants. If repeating the same real world, we would have (to me) a boring dynamic. Jersey shore worked so well because casting was so on point and found a group with a great dynamic, bringing together so many different personalities but grew into a family. The only real world of recent years that stands out to me like that would be Las Vegas2. It's hard to find such a cast that meshes well together plus to do it multiple seasons. I like the idea of bringing back those with a bad experience but only if it were real worlds final season. I see the challenge as a way to connect to my real world favorites, and if we had the same real world, no fresh blood in the challenge aka the same faces we've already been getting the past few seasons....

also I know rumors are saying ct will return to try to win money for Medgift. If he were to return, I feel like production would try to manipulate it so ct wins to get that fairy tale ending. and Most likely cara Maria as the underdog finally winning IMHO

I think RW and The Challenge work together as a union. Axing the RW would mean you axe The Challenge in the long-run unless they don't start to incorporate more people from different MTV shows and apparently the viewers don't like that kind of an addition to the series (as seen with AYTO) or do a Fresh Meat after every third challenge (Mind that I don't really think there will be a Challenge season 31 tbh)

I know this has nothing to do with the next season of the Challenge and it's way off topic, but maybe MTV should casting people from previous season of TRW for the next RW (if they plan on doing another one which I honestly doubt),  who were either fan favorites , people that the fans hated with a passion or some old schoolers like a 6 vs 6 version (on Explosion there were 12 who were part of the cast). Maybe they should start with the fan favorites/old schoolers and as a twist you put the hated people in it after like three weeks.

With that you help them getting noticed again (people like Ryan Conklin) and MTV can finally cast those people for a challenge as I think they don't get cast, because the casual viewer has no idea who these people are if they do a challenge as a rookie. Plus, I'm sure these people had a lot stuff happened after their RW season. It will be a unique kind of Real World and definitely a twist to the RW that I wouldn't really hate and would get numbers with it.

Furthermore since some people have been menditioned here as people we'd wish to do a challenge or that MTV should focus on those people that never even get a chance to do one, but who definitely won't be cast for this next season unless MTV really puts an Seasons 3. If they cast those people for a new RW season, even though they had experienced the Real World experience already, I think those people would still mean that MTV get easily 12 more people into the challenge pool again as they would be fresh to the casual viewer again.

We're probably only gonna get Backpack next season. I don't see CT doing next season and I doubt Wes will do it either.

Ideally none of them would be on but we all know that's not happening.

I'm okay with only one of them returning (preferably Wes), but it's weird how there hasn't been a season where none of the three have been on since Gauntlet 2. I'm not really a fan of having 'main characters' on a reality (game) show with a casting pool of 100+ :/

But eh, everyone has their favorites. A lot of mine don't show up anymore, so I just look for fresh faces to try liking. (no ayto though)

And this was never supposed to happen but here we are...hundreds of castmembers yet the entire show's fate rests on 2 people(I don't think people like Wes as much as the other two). The fact that so many on here actually don't mind or even like that shit is mind-boggling to me.

I agree 100 %. This show was never meant to have the same cast over and over again. People act like this is some sort of scripted show where the cast is the same every season. This show was not designed for that and it's boggles my mind that people don't understand that and actually WANT the same thing repeatedly.

I understand it wasn't designed to be this way, but I can't deny that it's comforting to turn on my TV and see people I've been following since high school. Maybe I'm way too into this show, but it's nice to have some things that never change. Whatever shit's going on in my life, I can tune into the Challenge every week and Bananas is still Bananas. Idk. I know the Challenge isn't everyone's comfort show so I can understand y'all's points too

I just think all of us have both different and similar reasons for watching the show. Whether that be to see our favorites, catch up on how everyone else is doing, watching the competition, the storylines, the drama, etc. I don't think any reason for watching makes for a more dedicated way for watching the show. (I mean, hey, we all took time to search and join this forum haha)

I really want to see the huge two-team format come back. A lot of people like Jonna, Leroy and Nany would've already won a challenge by now if they played those type of challenges.

Yeah, a team challenge would be nice. Sometimes I like to imagine how today's competitors would had performed back then when it was almost all teams. Makes for different dynamics and more champions.

Well this show is nothing like any of those other shows & if they are trying to make the switch to "reality" TV then it's time to just cancel this shit. This is supposed to be an competitive reality show, you don't need to "build a connection" unless it's on a per-season basis. Survivor/Big Brother/The Amazing Race/America's Next Top Model have all lasted this long with changing casts. All of them have had returnees and all-star casts but the cast is pretty much different every season.

They cast the way that they do now because they shot themselves in the foot long ago with this bullshit. Casting the same people over & over and ignoring others who could've been great additions, now we have people who won't watch unless it's the same old shit every season. What kind of competition show is supposed to be like that?

We're probably only gonna get Backpack next season. I don't see CT doing next season and I doubt Wes will do it either.

Ideally none of them would be on but we all know that's not happening.

Yeah. See I'm different. I like newness. I gravitate toward things that change and are new and don't stay the same. When it comes to Entertainment I'm not the one to get attached to certain characters were I won't watch if they're not it. I like seeing new stories, new drama, new conflict,..just new everything. I'm one of the few people that welcomes change when it comes to entertainment. And that's why I would rather see fresh newer casts on this rather than the same people I've seen a dozen times before. Especially if they don't do anything new.

PREACH!!!

V1man since you brought that up many pages ago... What/Who do you consider Old School?

I thought I had made that clear.  Anyone earlier than Fresh Meat 2.  It's a natural dividing line given the new targeted demographic.

Hilarious how ya'll rag on Trishelle for being a terrible person, and playing a shady game but yet you guys call her Trashelle, call her a *****, or make other comments that attack her character. Ya'll are lower than she will ever be or has been, only difference she gets paid for it and gets to be on the show. Two things none of ya'll will ever achieve. Call her shady or whatever but the personal attacks make you way more trashy and pathetic than her.

This entire post was pathetic and trashy. All you've managed to do is make yourself look equally bad by insulting the people on here.

Bye at you.

If you regard that comment as insulting then I'm inclined to strongly disagree with you.  I'll happily insult anyone who thinks it's cool to fracture someone's name for the purposes of their own amusement.  It's school yard stupidity, in my opinion.  We should be above such stuff and stive to make cogent intellectual arguments for our dislike toward some cast members.

Well ANTM is on the verge of being canceled which is why it's changing each season format wise. Survivor/Big Brother/TAR don't compare to the challenge because you watch those shows expecting to see a complete 360 in cast because that's the set up. Also, TAR is not doing as well as it use too. Survivor at one point was struggling and with the wrong cast selection you can get this season, same thing with BB. And for a competition show that is fine especially one on primetime that will automatically get more than a million viewers. However, the challenge is made around recurring characters with new additions coming in each season but the majority being returning players. And yes you build connections with these people. Diem is a prime example. Seeing her so many seasons you rooted for her to win not on the challenge but her personal life as well. Because you built a connection seeing her regularly. Which is why shows built around recurring cast and regulars are doing so well because people gravitate towards those more than shows like BGC and RW where things change each season and once its done you may not here from that person. Then comes The Challenge a way to see favorites that bring something to the show on a recurring bases.
