The Challenge: Battle of the Bloodlines Discussion (SPOILERS)

One thing I wanna say is that there is NO reason this upcoming cast should be a rehash of the last 3 seasons....there are wayyyy too many people who either want to make their mark or haven't been on in a while & want to get back in the game.

Seasons 2...

Not everybody who haven't been on in a while or wants to get back in the game would be a good choice.

So you want Battle of the Ex-Rival Agents 5? You want to see the same people w/ 4 or 5 newcomers yet again?

yep lol you people act like this is new go look at old challenges

There was a difference though..They did recycle people and they did have regulars but they didn't have the same cast every season and they had a good mix of people from the older and newer seasons to keep things fresh and some surprises. For example the cast of Battle of the Seasons 1 isn't the same as Battle of the Sexes 1. Now they did have a few people who were on both but for the most part the cast was different. Same with Gauntlet/Inferno/Sexes 2/Inferno 2/Gauntlet 2..and also people who were regulars didn't do every challenge(except Veronica but even she eventually took a break)...None of that is present now. The cast is the same from season to season and they don't really bring back people from older seasons(with a few exceptions) and now certain people have to be on every challenge in order for it to have good ratings and back then you didn't have to do that. Back then you didn't need XYZ everytime to get good ratings and you didn't need them in order to have what people think is a good season. The show could have a seasons without the regualrs and be alright(The Gauntlet 2 was clear proof of this). That's not the case now and the show suffers for it.

Seasons 2 was the ish. Idgaf what anybody says.

Camila's meltdown and trying to climb the board during her elimination and Fight Night were worth it alone.

Nany, Marie, Dustin, Trishelle, Devyn and Alton were stars that season.

MTV / BMP did Seasons 2 where most of the cast were newcomers and they paid a big price for that. After the most succesful seasons rating-wise in a looooong time which were Rivals 1 and Exes 1, the numbers completly crashed after MTV succesfully build a momentum for the series. They would be stupid to do the same mistake again and expect different results out of it.

You can't compare the series now with the success of it's golden days, that rookie thing might have worked when the show (and MTV) meant something and they could've cast anybody and people still would've watched because that was THE CHALLENGE (they didn't really have that many opponents), but that does not work anymore.
They can do Seasons 3, but they should and will cast at least 15-20 people that the viewer actually have an idea who they are or people that have a large fan base which means newer real world seasons, more hyprid teams.

Battle of the Ex-Rival Agent 5? I would be surprised if we see five challenges in the future, but if the first four seasons of Battle of the Ex-Rival Agent were good and brought ratings than that format must mean that is a hit...why not do a fifth time.

Rivals 2 had 13 newcomers/rookies, FA had 7 newcomers/rookies, Exes 2 had 11 newcomers/rookies... Just so you know that MTV does cast more newcomers that one might think.

I feel like Bruno's edit suited him. He was an *** and he was edited to be an ***. He would be good for challenges though.

I loved Seasons 2 and would love to see that format again. #BringMarieBack

I should NOT be on the floor laughing at this omg. "Battle of the Ex-Rival Agents 5"

So did I. With the right cast I think Seasons 3 can be awesome. That's what I most want to see.

That's not a whole lot. And you're also probably counting the people who did 1-2 challenges and frankly they don't count. They already did a season/s before. They aren't newcomers. Newcomers are people who are doing their FIRST challenge comming off their RW season. When you count only them those numbers go down drasticly.

And Seasons 2 was excellent. One of the best seasons in a long *** time. Best of this era IMO.

Rivals 2 had five people that did their first challenge (8 people that debuted on BOTS), Free Agents had four people that did their first challenge (and three that did only their second challenge), Exes 2 (the most recent one) had 9 people who did their first challenge (and only Nia/Reily were on their second)

Per definition newcomer means recently arrived or relatively new to participate in something. That means you're on your first or second challenge and as you said one time before, the challenge has just veterans and rookies and we should count them only this way....basically the term "newcomers" shouldn't be even discussed here as it only exists rookies or veterans...

All you guys might think that BOTS was the best season in a long *** time, but from a shareholder/production standpoint...it sucked big time.

I'm sorry about Devyn, but she was funny on BOTS2, but her comments on FA weren't, you could see it that she rehearsed a lot of those and the natural part of her interview just wasn't there anymore.

Don't need to, i've watched them all time & time again and the cast was NOT the same old shit everytime.

I disagree. BOTS 2 was a success because it bought on a bunch of cast members who without BOTS2 would probably still not be on the show. While the ratings might not have been that good they were better than Exes 2 and FA which has featured the same people back to back. I've always felt like the reason Seasons was not that successful was because the cast was new and the faces weren't familiar. Poor judgement on fans part because many who have gone back and watched it like me LOVE it because it was fresh and new and that's why so many wouldn't mind seeing it again beacause it seems like that's the only format that could give us a fresh cast of people. And if a Seasons 3 could get Seasons 2 numbers it still would have done better than the last 2 seasons.

Bingo. That's why that season didn't do well. People were fed those tired *** vets for so-long that when they're not on people didn't watch. The season and it's cast wasn't bad at all..It was just different for most viewers.

BOTS2 was a huge fail...

The base with the numbers of BOTS and FA/Exes is different, because BOTS followed the best two challenge ratings wise in a long time while Exes 2 followed the lowest and FA just didn't had the best cast for that specific concept/format for the casual viewer to get them hooked as it was a very boring season (besides Jordan vs. Bananas)

I feel like if MTV would've cast more people that were familiar (like maybe one hybrid team with old school real world people and one RR), BOTS2 would have gotten great numbers.

Since you brought that up, most of the core people for the next three challenge came from BOTS and you have to cast people one, two, three challenges in a row nowadays, because you need them to create a fan base. The problem is MTV needs a rating hit in order to get some air again and I don't think BOTS 3 with a lot of newcomers will give you that.

I still think newcomers are 1 and second season and tbh nine people is a very good number and that was last season. You can't complain about that.

Exactly, however done again I don't see this being a problem. Many people are familiar with the cast members from FM2-Skeletons and their fan base is pretty large. Add some people from Sydney-D.C. an era that produced great and memorable seasons of the RW so fans would remember and I think enjoy seeing them. They could also maybe bring in the old school viewers. And still a few old schoolers we don't normally see would be nice too. And this could work for ANY format/theme!

100 %. I don't make sense to lose those fan bases again by not casting them, because they were part of the last two, three challenge.

Just when you thought Devyn was done Wink

YAAS

I think the cast should be kind of like a bell curve in terms of how many challenges the players have done. You can have a couple on either end of the spectrum (people that have done like 7+ on one end, and people that are on their first challenge on the other end), and the majority that are on their 3rd or 4th. Jmo. That'd be ideal for me. I watch the Challenges to see my favorites and it takes time for me to warm up to rookies. I can only handle them in small doses. Having a cast full of fresh faces would be akin to watching a spinoff. It'd be like watching Private Practice thinking it was Grey's Anatomy. Great on its own, but missing all my favorites

I think the cast should be kind of like a bell curve in terms of how many challenges the players have done. You can have a couple on either end of the spectrum (people that have done like 7+ on one end, and people that are on their first challenge on the other end), and the majority that are on their 3rd or 4th. You're basically just like the casual viewer who thinks like 95 % of viewers of the Challenge. MTV should concentrate on pleasing you not us.

I wouldn't say that. I've seen every season from Inferno 2 at least twice at this point and I LOVE me some old-schoolers. I'm just not crazy about the new real world kids being dumped on me all at once. Bring me back Susie, Ruthie, Landon, Kina, Cara Z. and I'd be set. I just can't deal with a season full of Sylvia/Nicole/Violetta/Madison/Tony/Bruno/Cory/Brian/Jamie/Hailey/Jay

A Devyn return would be perfection. She doesn't have endurance, but she's far from weak (several girls have said Devyn is a physical force, but she plays the weak card) and has proven that she has a lot of heart. Time for her to get down and dirty, destroy a ***** or three in an elimination, and claim yet another final.

Seasons 2 had bad ratings moreso because the new people they chose were terrible, not because they were new..

I was referring to the cast full of fresh faces and the Grey's Anatomy/PP comparison.

I was referring to the "casual viewer" comment. I'm pretty far from casual. I don't want all fresh faces, I don't want all tired faces, but I DO want a lot of faces I haven't seen in a while.

I need her commentary back in my life
