I just did my re-read of the 5 books and it took about a month. It's worth noting that since you have seen the show, there will be some chapters you can gloss over. Certain POV characters are far more annoying in the books, and their stories are slower to develop so you can safely breeze through them. Looking at you, Bran/Sansa.
I finally started this series after being begged by people to do so and I'm utterly mad at myself for not starting sooner enough. I'm already in tears right now and felt the need to share because my emotions are everywhere... Mind you I'm only in the Baelor episode, Season 1.
I'm really angry at S1E09 ending. I've been wishing, with extreme passion and everything in me, that one day Sansa just disappears. Aryn is the golden child, after Bran, and I hope she does everything to take down the Lannisters. Along with Robb, and of course Snow too but that's unlikely.
Even with the constant killing of animals, rip lady (and I'll be dammned if another direwolf dies) I'll be marathoning this show till the latest episode. Wikia has definitly helped in the beginning with the families, Mad King background and background in general but I've happened to spoil myself in certain deaths (Joffery and Khaol) but I'm honestly not upset with those at all.
But while Youtubing Eddard Stark's death, I've stumbled a comment saying "Snow is not who is out to be" but quickly stopped reading, I really hope that isn't anything bad. Snow is everything to me.

Oh honey...it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better...

Also don't paint with broad strokes about the Lannisters. One is awesome from the beginning and like most viewers you'll probably drastically change your mind about another one once you're caught up (although I was a fan from the beginning).

Tyrion is the only one I've liked from the Lannisters. Since the beginning actually, so I hope that doesn't change. After him comes Tywin but only because I dont hate him like the rest of the Lannisters, but Im still deciding with him.
Im really interested to finally seeing Iwan Rheon pop up, only because of misfits and even seeing minor role characters from misfits on GOT excites me. But his chararcter doesnt seem to be well liked.
I just came here to say Cersei Lannister is awesome and anyone that thinks otherwise is wrong. Just kidding, but seriously she is ******.
I thought so too... For like the first few episodes. But she hasn't done anything but failed from what I'm seeing right now. But I'm assuming that changes later on? I'm at the beginning of season 2 now.

I did mean Tyrion as the one that's always awesome. As for the one that a lot of people have come around on, I don't want to say so as not to ruin it for you. I actually think that Tywin, Cersei and Jaime have their fair share of supporters...especially as compared to how a couple of them come off in the book.

And yeah...Iwan Rheon makes quite an impact...
Tyrion, the imp, really is awsome. Hm, I wonder if it is Cersei. I know a lot of people do love her just simply because she's a lead woman role but looking beside that she's really done nothing. It's been enjoying her fail, while Joffery has done more than her... Joffery. I'm not getting it, but I do have to catch up.
As much as I adore Iwan, I'm excited to see him be some type of villian. He plays almost like the role Samwell Tarly in Misfits. So it'll be a nice change.
I was a Ned fan, but this is hilarious and just the plain truth.
I was incredibily upset with his death. Not because I was shocked, well sort of that, mainl because he didn't stick to his story and 'confess' the real truth.
Nothing to do woth innocence, just that nothing else will be that 'heartbreaking' or sad to see.
False.
Because I was sad to see a main character who was obviously the hero in season 1, get beheaded over 'treasion'. Don't know why its such a bother to you haha.
-
I said I was going to give myself breakes between an episode or 2 to enjoy it more. But I can't, I want to know what happens in this war between lannisters vs. stark, what greyjoy does, what happens to jon snow, what happens to aryn, what mess is joffery going to do, pathetic attempts by cersi, the 3 dragons and watch daenerys ruin targaryen even more.

I'm sorry, no, I wasn't giving you a hard time about that...I was really upset about Ned too!
I guess, without trying to give anything away, I was trying to allude to the fact that things can (and do) get much worse for some characters. It's pretty widely known that this series is not afraid to get rid of people when least expected.

Yeah I kind of figured, that's why I said nothing can get worst than the death of Ned. Becuase if they can get rid of him, basically everyone is fair game in this series. But like you said it could get worst than Ned's death becuase eventually I'm going to get attached/have a favorite sometime soon (aka Jon Snow) but at this point with only being on season 2. But as of right now, I'm still upset :/

Oy...not Jon Snow.
nooooooo I already saw a comment about him "not being who he is". Okay I gotta at least finish E3 and 4 tonight.

Haha no, don't let me color your opinion. I just don't like Jon Snow. Possibly my least favorite character.
Tyrion is far less likeable in the books, when you can see some of the stuff that goes on in his head. Particularly after a certain event, when his entire outlook changes. There is another vile character who has a sort of redemption arc (that concludes by the time you've watched all the available episodes). See if you can guess who?
The person I could never stand in either the books or show was Catelyn. Particularly because of her fawning over Rob and her treatment of Jon. I think Brienne is the only wholly likeable character in all the books though. Arianne, Oberyn & Davos all come close but all are inflicted with a bit of the stupid gene which keeps them out of Brienne's reach.

Lol with all the ******** (mostly minor characters though), Jon Snow must of done something bad. Cersi takes the title for me, it was Daenerys because throughout season 1 all she did was ruin the Dothraki's. But with these dragons I'm interested in how'll that plays out.

They've definitly went another route with Tyrion with that lol. I'm expecting him to show his true Lannister side sometime soon, even though I rather that be never. Vile character? Hmm, if I had to guess Cersi? I don't think it'll be her, but I can't think of anyone more vile than her or Joffery and Jamie.
Yeah that's one thing that threw me off from Catelyn, she was so cold to Jon. I definitly think Catelyn played a huge part of Eddard's death with kidnapping Tyrion. I've just got introduce to Brienne, so don't know much about her other than that she comes out nowhere wanting to serve and die for King Renly. Haha "vile" is such a harsh word. I'd call that person, justifyably brutal...even moreso when you get inside of his/her head...but I've been an apologist for that character even prior to that redemption arc.
And yeah, Cat is even more of a ***** in the books. I don't like Jon but he didn't do anything wrong. On the show they color her a little better but I remember in the books she told Jon it should've been him in the paralysis coma instead of Bran.
'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Will Sideline Two Major Characters
'Game of Thrones': Bran Stark Will Appear in Season 5 After All?

Sort of...
5 books later, Snow is Snow. Any speculation to the contrary is just that... speculation.
Im not expecting it to be better unless Sansa dies... Which I know wont happen. nothing can get worst than Eddard's death.
Ahhh, sweet innocence.

I was never really a Ned fan. He did kinda mess up a LOT. (Pretty sure no spoilers in this link so long as you've finished season 1).

Basically marathon the episodes so we can get spoilery.
This is pretty much going to be my week haha. But you guys can go ahead and talk about the current season. I'll try my best not to look.
