I really think most of the "rookies have to pay their dues" stuff can be attributed to everybody else already being friends lol. They don't really care about people earning their stripes, they just want to keep around the people they already know and like, which is totally normal and understandable. I just kind of wish they would say that instead of pretending like this is a show steeped in tradition or something. I don't know, I dont really have a problem with Bananas winning a lot, but I can see why other people do.
The reason they disagree with me is they have this insane logic of only worrying about people 14-24. Casual viewers can't save this show. They screwed long time viewers long ago and these desperate "themes" have only made it worse. Let's be real...the need to promote the show better and not just promote it on MTV.
Amen. The casuals will be the end of the series.
Amen. The casuals will be the end of the series.
Now THIS I agree with. I really think that trying to appeal to Casuals fans is the wrong way to go and I honestly don't see this show lasting all that much longer if they continue to do that.
Well it's already lasted 25 seasons so whenever it does end it will be hard to say we didn't get our money's worth. I think it'll be around as long as The Real World is, though. And it's not setting any records but the ratings are decent enough for a cable show.

Actually that probably IS the case.
If Exes 2 does not get good ratings, it could very possibly be the farewell season. That is sad to think about.
If Exes 2 does not get good ratings, it could very possibly be the farewell season. That is sad to think about.
Extremely sad. The thought of ending on a bull**** gimmick season is sickening. Though, if it flops, I imagine season 27 will be the last as to give the Chicago cast a chance to appear.

In my mind it's because this and The Real World is their most known/Flagship Franchise and they haven't really found a show that they can make into a cash cow to replace it. I think if they found a show they can take and milk for a long time this franchise would've been done a LONG time ago. It's just a thought of mine.
Off the topic at hand I guess, but I'm watching old challenges lately because I only started watching them as they aired during the first Rivals. Right now I'm watching Inferno 3, and I just saw the episode where Timmy got eliminated. That guy seems like a class act, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of his seasons (I'm going backwards for some reason). Usually exit speeches are so cheesy, but his kind of warmed my heart and I don't even really know who he is yet lol.
Agreed. That is one of my favorite challenge moments and I barely knew Timmy either but hearing his speech and the flashbacks of his time on the challenges was awesome. I also loved what Derrick said something along the lines "If anyone deserves to be here out of pure respect it is Timmy" or something like that. It was a great moment.
Rookies getting voted out first is and has always been nonsense
Yeah, I really hate the idea that people need to be initiated and earn their stripes. I understand why it keeps happening because the rookies become veterans and feel entitled since they had to go through it so "it's only fair", but I always hated when it turned into that. BOTSexes 2 was really when that started and I hated it bc I was obsessed with the casts of San Diego and X-Treme back in the day. I think that's literally the reason I'm a rookie supporter (except I had no problem with Austin being picked off on Fresh Meat.)

I mean, that made sense Battle of the Sexes 2 saw Brad make the final 5 and Robin make the final 6 Plus, iirc, Arissa & Sophia reached the final in their first challenge. That's a lot of rookies going far in a season just based on voting IMO

He seems so sincere and articulate when he gives his speech to the other players. And they're all crying, you can tell they really care about him. I never imagined I would see anything that heartfelt on one of these. Another moment that got me was when Derrick came in for CT. Everyone was so happy to see him, and pumped to work with him. Just nice vibes.
Rookies going home first is just an easy way out for the Vets so yeah it makes sense. They don't know them and would rather not **** someone off who has played the game before right away.

Once you watch the Gaunlet 2 and some of the others you will see how much heart he has and why everyone was probably so happy to see him on the inferno 3.
I felt so bad for Derrick on The Duel when he lost to Wes. He was teary-eyed and choking up and said "I need to re-evaluate what I want to do with my life" hahaha.

Some people made it further than others (though Brad eventually got screwed near the end because of this right?), but there was definitely a divide, with Rachel/Veronica/Coral on one end and Katie siding with the rookie girls. It didn't really turn into much but I think it was clear that the "regulars" at the time felt some sort of entitlement. Fresh Meat was probably the first time it was straight up rookies gone first.

It was sad but def one of my favorite eliminations ever.
Some juicy tidbits about this upcoming season: 1. Before availability calls went out, BMP attempted to get approval from MTV to cast Adam Royer. This request was denied. 2. One reason it was denied was because Susanne Daniels made it very clear that she wants fan-favorite and Free Agents runner-up, Nany, to win this season. 3. The season will take place in an undisclosed location in the South Pacific. 4. I completely pulled this out of my ***.

So that means a lot of water missions most likely

Luckily CT was his savior to give him his first win on Inferno 3
I am fine with johnny winning without kenny and evan on the show I like johnny holding down the fort for old school vets
I am fine with johnny winning without kenny and evan on the show I like johnny holding down the fort for old school vets
Yeah but it'd be awesome to see Kenny school some of these new kids. JEK were a dime a dozen. They were funny as hell, made the house fun, and played the game as if it were a game of checkers. They were the kings of kings. No one that has come into this show has had the same sense of humor that JEK has. You can just tell Bananas feels alone sometimes; because everyone else is boring.

Let's be real...the need to promote the show better and not just promote it on MTV.
I totally agree with the last statement. About the theme part like I stated before reality TV and MTV have evolved now a show of 26-36 competitors going at it for money without any social experiment or catchy theme wouldn't succeed on the ratings department especially on a Channel like MTV that is known for "trashy" stuff. Just look the ratings for every theme that wasn't Exes/Rivals. Plus there are 30 more alternatives is not like when the show started that it hardly had any competition on the same genre. That's why comparing the cast, the viewers and the show to the one back there is pretty much pointless because things have change by A LOT since their first seasons. I know I have put this article and many others stating the same on here before, but it explained what I am saying: Why TV Networks Are Buzzing Over 'Social Experiments' Relatable Social Experiments is what attract this generation viewers like the article I posted above states that's why from the last Real Worlds since Vegas 2 the only one that have succeed is Expolosion the only one with some kind of twist. Like you say sadly that target demographic is the channel and most important demographic for them.

Kenny/Evan brought entertainment to the house. Evan was always coming up with games to play. I miss them too much.

MTV must think Adam Royer is a flood of lawsuits waiting to happen, otherwise I can't think of a reason why they would ban him.
