Devyn completed the final, never threatened on her partner to give up and when it came to the individual points, she finished. Yes I would have preferred a 3rd female on Nany/Laurel level (they were pretty evenly matched in both individual portions I believe before anyone screams bloody murder), but she did what she had to take home money and gave each partner her best, regardless of what level her best is.
I can give Devyn credit for finishing the final. She tries her best which is more than can be said for some of the other weak competitors, but it's getting very irritating that she keeps giving herself pats on the back for being a "political mastermind." It's easy to form alliances when it's in the competitions' best interests for to be in the final because you're one less athlete to worry about.
Eh... on one hand it did get kind of old hearing her keep talking about it but on the other hand she was smart and strategic this game probably more than any of the other weaker competitors so if she wants to boost about it she should imo.
if cara went in this finals without a broken hand against nany and laurel ..... she would of won... that is facts
Cara is definitely strong, but I don't know how fast she could have climbed up that mountain at a 90 degree angle with limited use of one hand in the third leg. And why do you assume she would have beat Laurel? I don't see either of them being a clear cut winner there, it would definitely be close.

I'd agree with that. Besides the kayaking, although Laurel STILL would've won. She would've been up that mountain (3rd part) before Nany for sure

I agree, I wasn't thrilled about Devyn being in the final, but her attitude was a million times better than Zach.

Cara tweeted while that she appreciated the comments, she doesn't know how she'd be in the final with her hand

Oh and I'm sorry about my other reply to this comment. I obviously skipped over the part where you said WITHOUT a broken hand lol. My bad!
i hope the next challenge will be a solo ... where the person placed last in a challenge goes home plus an elimination so two boys and two girl a episode and have like a really big cast. that way the strongest will win

in my opinion, the strongest did win on both sides. (or at least the most deserving)
Nany did great but the only reason it was close was because of Zach slowing Laurel down.
So would it be fair to say that Devyn slowed Johnny from Portland down and he could have won it all
So would it be fair to say that Devyn slowed Johnny from Portland down and he could have won it all
She slowed him down alright but Bananas still would have had better time IMO. I like Johnny R but Bananas did better then him
I'll still give it to Bananas, cause he possibly could have lost had he not have the brilliant idea of matching the logs as oppose to guessing like Johnny did with Laurel. So perhaps his wits saved him from losing to Johnny R.
Some quick reunion thoughts:
CT was light years different from last year's reunion. Not only was he sober, but he was relaxed, glowing and happy (even though last year he won the whole thing). He seemed to have no chips on his shoulder or bitterness or issues with anybody. He just seemed to be having a great time, even though he was not asked any questions. Whatever is going on in his personal life, is really working for him. He's matured.
Theresa looked stunning.
Nany seems more into Cohutta, than Cohutta is into her. Her face also seems overwhelmed by too much hair. Perhaps she was wearing a wig or hairpiece? Less is more, Nany, but happy she's happy with Cohutta. He on the other hand looked like he just rolled out of bed, and that tumble towards Nany looked awkward.
The set looked like a torture chamber.
Jessica seemed irrelevant so I'm surprised she was invited. She had no conflicts with anyone and wasn't in or near the final.
Laurel owned the reunion. She and Cara seemed to be getting over things, but now on twitter they are being aggressive (Laurel) or passive-aggressive (Cara) to each other. I'm a straight man and don't really understand all their issues (had to ask my wife why they were making such a mountain out of a molehill). To me it seemed like a lot of hurt feelings over communication issues that could easily be cleared up. Weird that this was the central conflict of the season.
Johnny Bananas stayed mellow and didn't take anything serious (from Jordan or Nany). He doesn't seem like the same hot-head from the Island and is more likeable now.
The whole reunion was like the final was like the season: anticlimactic.
Sucks that I wasn't able to post live yesterday, I had a tough time trying to watch the finale due to certain circumstances. I rewatched it earlier to get a better insight of it. I also kept track of times. First thing I have to say is that I loved the intro to this finale, giving us a general overview of everyone still in the game. I hope they continue to do this for future challenges. Onto the final and players....
Final: This final was definitely not weak, you're crazy if you think so. Breakdown: Trudging through a current to get the paddles, white water raft, 10k run + puzzle, climbing vertical mountains, riding a stationary bike for 25 miles in 28 degree weather, getting about 5 hours of sleep, then hiking up a volcano while breathing very thin air. It was no joke, but honestly it looked like a lot of fun, and I'd rather compete in it than Exes or Rivals 1. IMO this final is close to Exes in difficulty, maybe slightly under at #3.
Bananas: I am generally impressed with him. He definitely deserved this win(even though I wasn't rooting for him) after going through 3 eliminations and performing solidly without relying on an alliance. His attitude towards working with others is becoming a lot better based off this final. Good for him, congrats on the fifth win, he's definitely a top 5 competitor.
Times: 40:00 + 1:34:47 + 2:19:14 + 60:00 + 2:36:00. Total: 8:10:01 (1st place overall)
Johnny Reilly: He surprised me. Even though I would have liked to see him go in to an elimination, he gave Bananas a good run for his money and was really a good sport cooperating with teammates. I didn't really like him on RW:PDX but now it's like he has changed. I hope he and Averey are partnered up for an Exes 2 season and take home the gold.
Times: 44:53 + 1:23:54 + 2:52:45 +1:23:00 + 2:04:00. Total: 8:28:32 (2nd place overall)
Zach: Ohhh Zach... even if his final performance wasn't good at all, he is still a favorite of mine from this generation. That flashback of him pushing Sam around really made me laugh because of how Laurel is the one who was pushing him to move on. I think he's just not good with height finals... too thin of air for his muscles to breathe. Also, nice crying noises, but they could be better.
Times: 58:21 + 1:30:00 + 2:39:36 + 1:31:00 + 3:37:00. Total: 10:15:57 (5th place overall)
Laurel: Not surprised she won, but I give her credit on the fact on how much she had to deal with this entire season. She had to deal with 4 eliminations, and her relationships with both Jordan and Cara Maria. Hooray that she isn't cursed with placing 2nd all the time.
Times: 40:00 + 1:23:54 + 2:39:36 + 1:32:00 + 3:10:38. Total: 9:26:08 (3rd place overall)
Nany: Like Johnny R I was surprised with her performance in this final. Obviously I know she tries to never give up and push through it, but dang she was always one step behind Laurel trying to catch up and pass her. I guess her regiment of smoking and drinking alcohol didn't affect her endurance in this final.
Times: 44:53 + 1:30:00 + 2:19:14 + 1:50:00 + 3:10:42. Total: 9:34:49 (4th place overall)
Devyn: Even though I would have preferred a couple other females to be in the final instead of her, and even though I don't like how she believes her political skills is what kept her to the end, I will say that I liked how she never gave up. Obviously she dragged down her partners, but I liked the perseverance.
Times: 58:21 + 1:34:47 + 2:52:45 + 2:43:00 + 4:30:00. Total: 12:38:53 (6th place overall)
The Reunion: This reunion was definitely better than that live, messy Rivals 2 reunion. The set was a bit weird, but they covered as much as they could and didn't waste much time. I think my favorite part was when Laurel went up to Theresa's face asking her to punch her in the face. I'm just disappointed that there might not even be a **** show to laugh at though. :(
Yeah, Laurel and Cara's fight didn't seem like a huge deal to me either. In the Grantland Podcast, Jacoby was saying their relationship seemed very Big Dog/Little Dog, which made sense to me. Cara probably finally got sick of that power dynamic but neither one of them were communicating effectively about it(plus Laurel was being pretty rude). And I think both of them being REALLY stubborn didn't help anything.

Thanks for this.
What this proves is that the time diff for Johnny and Bananas was the bike. Had he gone even 20 mins faster Reilly would have won

Wow so I guess Laurel might be done then. 😔

I don't think it is possible to look back and make predictions like this. If Reilly had completed the bike faster then Johnny may have felt like he had less of a cushion going into day 5 and he may have made it up the mountain faster. There are too many variables involved to say that changing just one thing would have changed the entire outcome. Plus, thinking that he could have been 20 minutes faster in a task that he took 83 minutes total to complete while he was trying his best is kind of silly.

She went out on top, I don't blame her. CT should have done the same on Rivals II.
