Hopefully, they went with a different producer this time around
Justin Booth, yet again, the guy who said "never happened" in response to Tonya's suit. I have a small issue with his apparent lack of integrity.
There seems to be a mistaken point of view within BMP/MTV, stemming from the same producer that made The Island and The Ruins a miserable experience for cast members, that broken toilets, no shower curtains, and very unhealthy food -- along with lots of alcohol -- serve as a catalyst for more on-camera drama. It's just a false assumption.
So basically (if i'm understanding correctly) that producer thinks that making things as awful as possible for the castmembers will result in more drama..That's just stupid. Did it ever cross their minds that maybe..Just maybe if they put together a good cast with a good format then maybe they'll get the drama they want? All they're doing is just making castmembers not want to do these things.

The cast members **** and moan about how terrible the living conditions are, well truth is, they have no room to complain. They could potentially get a free 5 week vacation to an exotic location to film a challenge, go out, have fun, and compete. It doesn't matter if their house is a **** prison in India, they will still get cast members to be on it.

And even though they'll always find cast members to do it. There are some that have walked away from them because of the horrible experiences they've had on them(Kimberly. Veronica.Trishelle). I just think that a better environment would work much better for the cast...But I guess it doesn't matter because like you said...they'll always find cast members to do these shows.

And have you seen the nights where they go out? It looks like a lot fun to go on these shows.

I can't begin to count the number of interviews, youtube videos, tweets or other comments by former cast members about the conditions of their "servitude" while on a challenge. -- 28-32 cast members living in a house designed for perhaps 8 or at most 10 as a vacation location with 3-6 people per bedroom (rarely any closet space) -- 3-4 bathrooms -- never enough and shower curtains that mysteriously disappear almost immediately. Toilets that don't work -- Minimal food options with no consideration for dietary or nutritional concerns -- Unable to leave the house/grounds unless it's production's idea -- Alcohol. alcohol. alcohol 24/7 -- Cast members who have their own personal mini-scrips that they launch into then the cameras crews are around, hostile dialogue and confrontation of others ("fighting") in hopes for more seconds on air in an episode. -- Done early enough in the seasons (like the first two days) it gives the story editor someone to work with, irrespective of anything that might actually happen among cast members. I could go on, but why bother. Some people simply have been vaccinated against the unreality of realty TV, including the challenges.
For me the bathroom situation would be the biggest problem. When 5-10 people have to share one bathroom I can imagine how rundown and dirty it would be after a couple of days. From what I see on tv, they don't seem to have cleaning ladys and I don't think one of the competitors would start scrubbing the toilets. But I can see it is hard to find houses big enough and affordable for their needs. What I don't understand is the food thing. I guess they have a catering service. From my experience if you order a month of food for 30+ peple they will make you anything you want without an problems (as long as you don't want caviar and kobe-beef). If you are a catering company, you want your customers as satisfied and happy as possible.

Makes sense. I didn't think this one through. When you whatch the show the house just seems to be dirty all the time but it's probably the fault of the people living there and that they don't have enough space.
From what i know they have cleaning ladies that come while they are doing the challenge or elimination, they just don't show it on tv
Ugh. My deepest sympathies are with those sainted cleaning ladies.
I don't get what's these people's problems you get to go on national TV, get free food, get all the alcohol you want, have a chance to win money, do some pretty fun and cool challenges... but, yet they want to complain about some broken toilets.
Why do you think they are so happy to move to a new location after being in the house for a month or two? It is not just for the change of scenery or another stamp in their passport. I can only imagine everything the cleaning ladies would have to put up with. V1, if MTV came to you and asked you to helm production on the next Challenge, would you?

But if they did, no, I would not accept since I'm retired from "Hollywood" and not doing any TV beyond the obligations I have as a producer for a semi-scripted pilot currently being shopped to the networks, and four shows with **** Clark Productions. I've often said the MTV needs to bring in Matt Kunitz' production team to take over the challenges. Matt maintains a great relationship with some old school cast members.
Who is Matt Kunitz?
Who is Matt Kunitz?
Seriously? Google Trivia -- Matt got his start at BMP by answering phones...
Seriously? Google Trivia -- Matt got his start at BMP by answering phones...
Just as you posted this I went through IMDB actually and I can see why he would be ideal for running The Challenge, especially with WipeOut on his resume.
No chance in ****.
I'm not suggesting he would make a mockery of it all but he would certainly have an idea from WipeOut how to design Missions and from his BMP experience he could take it back to more of what Mary Bunim had in mind.
No chance in hell.
Even though Trishelle didn't prove much last season, I think this is team could be a contender to win. They have endurance and would most probably beat any team at a puzzle.
Sarah should be happy Trishelle is a big upgrade from Katelynn.
This team could very easily make the final. Trishelle is definitely an improvement from her previous two partners.
This team could very easily make the final. Trishelle is definitely an improvement from her previous two partners.
I don't know about making the final..But I do see this team going far.
Sarah should be happy Trishelle is a big upgrade from Katelynn.
No kidding. Sarah stayed pretty calm compared to how I would have acted, had Katelynn done me as she did Sarah -- just refusing to even take part in the challenge, being too scared to even move. Vinny seemed mostly like extra weight as well, and of course lacked the intelligence to conduct himself properly in society. What a tool. Now, at least, like everyone is saying, Sarah has a chance. I can't really remember how Trishelle has competed recently... but I do know she's feisty, so I hope that will express itself in the team's favor.
I'm happy for him, but it's not his physical aspect that is so bothersome, is it? He's actually pretty cute. His problem is, errr, what was it? Pulling down someone's top in a nightclub? Can't remember whose it was, now. But I remember him being pretty unapologetic and obstinate about it. Bad move.
