Key West was a living nightmare for the producers, I doubt they would go back there. I want a snowy season, Boston and B2 New York are the only seasons I remember being filmed in the winter.
I want a snowy season too! And get snowbound would be GREAT to see (sucks for the roommates, but fun for us to see, hehehe)
Pittsburgh, Vancouver and Minneapolis are 3 cities I'd like to see with a winter season. I'm sure there's likely some other good options--Buffalo, Cleveland, etc
Next season, i'd love to see.. 1) An African American roommate who is "white-washed" and doesn't like/hang with people of his/her race. 2) Polar opposite of roommate 1. African American, but is uber stereotypical and contrantational.
I've been called "the whitest black girl [someone's] ever met" several times before and I'm confrontational... I'm not sure why you think those two are opposite.
I've been called "the whitest black girl [someone's] ever met" several times before and I'm confrontational... I'm not sure why you think those two are opposite.
They could both be confrontational, They just need to have conflicting views and outlooks on life. I think the problem that Real World is having lately is that they are only casting people who say stuff like "I speak what's on my mind and I like to party". Well, It doesn't matter what's on your mind if 6 other people feel the same way. They need to go back to casting seasons like Hollywood and Denver.
What I found interesting about the Denver season was that none of the castmates really had such 'interesting' back stories. Jenn- party girl, BF back home Colie- party girl, BF back home Brooke- bipolar, possibly? Alex- love triangle with Jenn and Colie Davis- gay, family doesn't approve Stephen- conservative, Christian, black Tyrie- rough past, black So aside from Davis and Tyrie, none of them really have such interesting back stories, yet, they all made for interesting TV. In SD2, however, a lot of the roommates did have interesting back stories, yet they were all boring. Alex- graduated HS at 14, went to Stanford, musician, accomplished tons of things before she was 21 and what did she bring to the show? Her BF not wanting to hold hands with her? Frank- gay/bi, not accepted by other roommates, alcoholic?, crazy *** Nate- best friend committed suicide Sam- gay, not accepted by other roommates Zach- uberconservative, homophobe? Ashley- has a nice *** and nothing else Priscilla- underage, can't drink, Mexican descent So while the SD castmates seem like they would be more interesting, they weren't.
Pris, Alex, Nate, Ashley, Sam, shouldn't have been on the show at all. I didn't find any of them interesting compared to the people in Denver...or any other season. Alex - the whole "AIDS Organization, graduated early" thing is admirable, but seriously..who cares? Nate - Boring. The "I'm randomly crying during fireworks because I lost my best friend " was cute, though. Pris - Extra-boring. If they were going to cast someone underage, they should have went with someone more outgoing and controversial. And being of "Mexican decent" doesn't make you interesting. Sam - We get it, you're a lesbian.
I actually like Pris as a person, she seemed like a girl I would totally get along with, I just wish she hadn't been underage in her season, so we could've gotten to see more of how she was like when they went to Mexico, hahaha.
I was just thinking if they are going to keep doing "Back to" seasons they should do another Miami season. After moving down south, its literally my favorite city in the world and there is so much to do. And the first Miami season was such a hit. If not Miami, then take them back to Chicago, that was my second favorite season. Glad they are currently in Portland because its different.
I liked Priscilla based on the one episode she lasted on during Exes
I dont think you're qualified to have an opinion then.
I dont think you're qualified to have an opinion then.
Limited sample size for sure but she seems personable. All depends on what you're looking for from these people.
It's funny you say those 2 seasons because I think that if they repeat locations those 2 are the ones I want them to do.
OMG! We agree on something!
They should do a Real World: Alaska in Anchorage, people would tune into the first episode of that for sure.
If there is a San Juan version they should call it RW: Puerto Rico then. And definitely have a Puerto Rican as part of the cast?
I wouldn't mind watching Real World: Salt Lake, or Real World: Chicago II. Since I've lived in/near both of those places and it'd be cool to watch for me. Plus theyd both be cool cities to have a season in, they could film the former in winter and have the cast work at Sundance. Plus, I was 8 when the first Real World Chicago came out.
I'd love to see something like Real World: Singapore. Even with some of the strict laws I think it could be a good season.
I think if they go international again, it NEEDS to be in Canada. If not, I think either Amsterdam (that's right) or maybe Dublin.

Dublin was kind of overrated IMO but Galway was absolutely awesome. Plus, it's basically like being in a college town with how many pubs they have there. Such an awesome city. Dublin's awesome too, but it just felt so touristy (and obviously I was a tourist hah), whereas Galway was just really laid back and fun to be around.

TBH I don't think any city in Ireland would work. The only international seasons I could ever see pulling good numbers nowadays are: London, Vancouver, Montreal, Ibiza, Amsterdam & Rio. I'd like to think Cape Town, Berlin, Toronto, Manchester & Auckland would do well too, but I'd not sure.
I searched "mtv real world" on twitter because I needed a break from studying. There have been a ******** of tweets sent to MTV asking for either a season in Canada or Atlanta. I get a feeling that we'll see a season in one of those two locations once the contract is renewed. Also, does MTV even have any say in where the season is filmed? or is it all up to BM ?
Realistically, if they do renew it to Season 30, they should should just go to Toronto (though I think they would try Vancouver) and Atlanta; those locations haven't been used and would bring in ratings.
Realistically, if they do renew it to Season 30, they should should just go to Toronto (though I think they would try Vancouver) and Atlanta; those locations haven't been used and would bring in ratings.
Locations don't bring in ratings, the people do.
Locations don't bring in ratings, the people do.
The location does have an a/effect on the ratings. I know if I heard "This season, on The Real World: Tokyo.." I'd instantly wanna watch. If I heard "This season, on The Real World: Iowa" I'd be like...really?

If they were in Iowa City or Ames (College Towns), there would be a ton of bars and interesting drama because it would be able to involve the locals as well. Something like Tokyo would pretty much isolate the cast (language/cultural barrier) and result in a boring season (like what we saw in St. Thomas).

I've been to St. John and most people spoke English really well. St.Thomas should have called RW: Virgin Islands, but even that wouldn't have fixed such a horrid casting mistake. But I agree with Tokyo, the language barrier would be odd at first. A season in Rio or Spain might be better.
I'd say that more people speak English in Tokyo than in Rio or Spain.
It depends where you are in Spain. Rio, probably.
I'd like to see them return to two more cities: Chicago and Miami. Especially Chicago but I'm biased. I don't need a back to Miami anytime soon though considering we just had St. Thomas and San Diego. I also think they should do a Canadian city. Toronto, Vancouver, wherever. I don't really know enough. I also love the idea of Tokyo but it would probably never happen. And my total "*** is this guy thinking?" choice is Milwaukee, but again I'm bias because I went to school there and it's actually a great city. It's not like a dream destination for anybody but there's plenty to do there. It's kind of like a poor-man's Chicago though. Knowing MTV they'll just go back to NY though and call it a day.
