The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons - Lacey Buehler Interview
Thank you guys for being patient. Lacey wasted no time in getting back to us with our million questions. Here's what she had to say: Q: How are you reacting to the outpour of support you've gotten since the episode aired? A: Shocked, flattered, and relieved. It's been a long time since Real World and I wasn't sure how people would feel about seeing me again. Q: How nervous were you going into elimination and were you confident going in with Wes whose been in 14 elimination rounds? A: I was very confident and not very nervous going in because I assumed we would be working together in it. I got really nervous when we got there & I saw I was going to be on my own. Q: Which girl, out of the entire cast, would you have preferred to go against in the Arena? Why? Also, between Physical, Strategic, Mental, and Endurance, which type of Arena would you feel strongest competing in? A: Devyn. Only because she doesn't have a lot of experience doing these types of things. I would have preferred the mental category. I like puzzles and those types of challenges. Q: What have you been up to since RW: Austin ended? We've heard about your salon, Tryst. Tell us about it. A: I opened Lacey May Salon in Tallahassee in 2006 and this month we are changing locations & moving in with a full service spa so I decided to start fresh and change the name to Tryst. We actually open on the 25h of this month! Q: Were you happy about how you were portrayed on your season and this challenge? Do you think you were portrayed accurately? A: I was very content with my portrayal. For once I felt like I was watching myself instead of the virgin alternative chick version of myself. Q: You've come a very long way since your season of The Real World. The girls had to twist your arm just to convince you to climb on the bar and dance with them. Did this bold act prepare you to balance across that beam in the first mission? A: I've definitely opened up more since my Real World days. Things don't bother me as much as they used to. I just get grumpy when people are obnoxious in public, that's why I always seemed like such a stick in the mud on Real World. I don't feel the need to make myself the center of attention so sometimes I have trouble dealing with personalities that do. I'd say I'm much better at laughing things off nowadays. I'm not afraid of heights so the beams were no problem. It was that freaking rope ladder climb that sucked! Q: On the Battle of the Seasons premiere, we heard you say the house didn't "think Wes was sincere" because they don't know him. You have known Wes for a long time. What is one aspect that you feel people don't realize about Wes? A: Half of the time he's joking around & people think he's serious. He has a very dry, witty, sense of humor. Also, if he's really being an *** you can call him on it and he'll apologize. You just have to understand him & how he communicates to get along with him & I don't think most people do. Q: Speaking of Wes, many have cited that he likes to play a character for the cameras. Do you prefer to be yourself or assume a reality TV persona to cater for the cameras? A: I prefer to be myself, but no matter how hard you try & control it, the editors are the ones who really decide how you're going to come across. I think Wes is excellent at giving them memorable quotes/sound bites. And I do think he is an exaggerated version of himself on the challenges, but, let's be honest, it keeps them wanting him back. He knows exactly what he's doing. Q: Do you continue to watch The Real World? If so, what's been your favorite season? A: Sometimes I catch it. I liked back to Las Vegas. It seemed like each one of them had a story to tell. Q: Do you still hate HelloGoodbye? A: Haha! That's funny. They actually opened for a band I went to see a year or two ago & I felt like I needed to hide so they wouldn't see me. I'd say we had a mutual distaste for one another. They've yet to put out an album I'd purchase, but I wish them the best. Q: If you hadn't been in Austin, where would you have wanted your cast to live for three months? A: I was actually hoping for Australia because at that point I thought they were due for an out of the county location, plus, I thought they needed a "wow" city after Philly (no offense Philly). Q: If you could choose any 6 RW alumni to be your roommates for another season of the Real World, who would they be and why? A: Wes, Alton, Sarah Rice, Jaime Chung, Mallory, and Mike (the Miz) because he's from Ohio like me! Q: Out of all the Real World and Road Rules alumni that you know of, who would you like to be on your team? A: Mark Long, Laurel, Alton, Sarah Rice. It would be a good combo of brains and brawn. Q: It seems you want to do another challenge, and a lot of fans are hoping you will. What kind of challenge format would you like to compete in and why? Formats include: Free-for-all, veterans vs. rookies, guys vs. girls, good guys vs. bad *****, Real World vs. Road Rules, champions vs. challengers. A: Good guys vs. bad *****. Pre-labeled. That way you know from the start how people are. Q: Cara Maria always seems to do these, so we figured you'd enjoy it too. I'll list some random cast members, and you give me one word to describe each: Frank, Jasmine, Devyn, Knight, Chet, Dustin, Trishelle, Trey, Cara Maria, Marie, Jonna, Zach, Preston. A: Frank: Bully Jasmine: Loud Devyn: Busty Knight: Drunk Chet: Sarcastic Dustin: Spacey Trishelle: Classic Trey: Bro Cara Maria: Pirate Marie: Sloppy Jonna: ***** Zach: Beige Preston: Sparkly Q: Cast members like Jasmine, Jonna, Tyrie, Diem, Cara Maria, Derek, and Sarah have joined Vevmo at one point and continue to provide much appreciated insight. Would you be willing to stop by and say hello to your fans? A: Yes, I could probably work that out! Q: Any random thoughts before we wrap up this interview? A: I had a blast in Turkey. Wish I could have stayed longer! Hopefully you'll see me again. ~~~~ I'd like to thank Lacey again for taking the time to answer our questions. She was a delight to interview, as she was completely honest and answered questions promptly. If anyone missed the deadline for questions, I apologize for those who were left out. There might be a chance you can catch her again very soon. ;)
Love it! Hope she comes back. :D
I feel honored my question was asked the "Q: How nervous were you going into elimination and were you confident going in with Wes whose been in 14 elimination rounds?"
Im shocked she didn't pick Johanna as a roommate. Always loved her honesty and she wasn't the whiny outcast. She was cool.
Thanks for this all involved.
Good interview! I hope she comes back for another challenge!
Good interview! I hope she comes back for another challenge!
I second that.
Love her since RW Austin
I've always liked her and it was nice to see her on this challenge. Hopefully they bring her back again!
I gotta say it was really refreshing to see Lacey on this challenge. I hope she does another one.
See it's official, and TJ made it official as well so yeah it is indeed Back to Las vegas and Back to New Orleans, so take that, LifeAfterBMP. lol. Anyway this interview was very spunky. I never did dislike Lacey and I agree with her saying she was the proverbial stick in the mud. One last thing, why is it when people do there first challenge then go home, it's always newcomers (like people Jo, Latin America Holly, Adam Royer to name a few) we care about or haven't seen in a hot minute?
