What a bummer.
I should've known better to get my hopes up that they'd let JB announce the official renewal of the Challenge. Even if it was on the 30th anniversary of MTV.
Oh well.. Bananas is still my man. Sounds like a stupid lawsuit (I can't entirely tell if he's joking or not?), but if he does have the trademark, he'll probably get a settlement.
IMO, it's obviously coincidental. Johnny drama = gorilla = loves bananas. I really don't see Johnny making any money off of this, but if he's taking action his lawyers must think they have a case soo.. We'll see I guess.
At first I thought he was just trying (and failing) to be funny but now that TMZ has posted it I'm guessing it must be true??? HAHAHAHA. I just have to laugh. This guy is so delusional. "The work and dedication I've put towards making this a household name".....Ummm....what? He's acting like he's one of the Jersey Shore kids. Yes, everyone knows the names Snookie and Situation. Johnny Bananas.......not so much. Besides this has been on Entourage for a good year (maybe two).....why is he getting his panties in a twist about it all this time later???
If this is true I hope HBO hands his *** to him quicker than CT on Cutthroat.
Yeah I had a feeling it might be about that but I was hoping it was about something important, because I dont give a crap about whoever stole his name, what a let down.
I think Johnny Bananas is cute , but for some reason I think he actually look like a little monkey or maybe it's just me lol o_O

He might be a little more credible if his twitter handle was actually johnnybananas. The character's name is Johnny so it is obviously a coincidence and not used in any similar manner. That said, did Johnny (MTV) have a trademark before this happened?
I think it's funny how so many people are saying they never heard of him, and I can't tell if he's being serious about the whole law suite thing, but I like how the character is an ape, just like Johnny.

We get it. You don't like Johnny. Give it a rest please.
I don't think Johnny will get any money for this, because I seriously doubt he has a copyright on "Johnny Bananas". The good news is that it IS good publicity for the show and will probably bring higher ratings. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if MTV & BMP paid Johnny to do this.

There is no trademark for the name or persona "Johnny Bananas", so I don't see how his lawsuit stands any merit at all..

I expect his attorney will surprise us with the merits of the claim. A quick check of her professional reputation with colleagues in the bar suggest she has a strong record and adequately represents her clients.
Ms Ovadia is the current Lohan (as in Bacchus' favorite "Lindsay Lohan") family attorney whose offices are in East Meadow, NY. Her practice includes entertainment law.

Yeah I was thinking that too but they didn't say he's on rivals right now they just said he was on the real world. I really thought more people would have heard of him, maybe more people would know Mark or the miz. And is the lawsuit for real? He said he hired a lawyer and everything.

Yes the legal action is potentially real. The normal first step preceding the filing of any civil suit is to inform the offending party of the nature of the complaint via a cease and desist letter, in this case to HBO, et al.
Since I went to the trouble of posting a pic of his lawyer's office in East Meadow, NY, and check on the attorney's professional standing among her colleagues, I assumed everyone would make the logical conclusion that Johnny and someone masquerading as an attorney had not misplaced April Fool's Day. Yes, he is serious.
BTW, the face that the VIACOM Corp, through it's MTV Networks arm, MTV, has consistently referred to him as "Johnny Bananas" in its copyrighted programming and press releases for years, should be a remarkable supporting argument that HBO and the production companies involved should consider prior to responding to Ms Ovadia's letter.
[I should state, lest someone think otherwise, that I don't like JB. I've thought for some time that he is an arrogant misogynist, whom I loathe as ever being anyone's role model for a 20 something's behavior. That fact doesn't stop me from finding some merit in his claim in this instance. ]
Wow, this is ridiculous. I can't believe he's serious.
I like how he was casually walking down the street as if it wasn't staged.
Yes, and he was at one of the restaurants where he knew paparazzi would wait for him. Or, in this case one paparazzo. Also, pure coincidence that he was wearing one of Kenny's suckyeah shirts.

You may disagree with him, fine. Please tell me why it is ridiculous?
I think it is perfectly reasonable for him to want to protect the investment he's made in his alter-ego character (although I think it really is who he is).
And for those of you who read my earlier comments about his attorney and Lindsay Lohan, well just remember you read it here first before hearing it from JB and TMZ.
Don't know why he is acting like this isn't just about money. He is a human being, most human beings would "rob" the rich if given the chance. Honestly, he looks JUST like the ape in that video, funny.

He's not acting like it isn't about money. Identity theft and "brand" is all about money. He's telling you the "why" in the TMZ video.

I read it first on Johnny's twitter, then googled her name and saw that she was linked to Lindsay Lohan. That was before you posted it here.

I think Johnny is doing the right thing. I don't know a lot about the law, but I think I learned enough in my business courses to be able to say he's not completely crazy. I think he may have a case.

It's ridiculous because he's not well known. It's not like he's "The Situation" or "Snooky", No one calls him Johnny Bananas on the show for the most part, it's just like people don't call Paula "Paula Walnuts". They call him "Johnny". The only reason i believe he's doing this is for attention and money, a publicity stunt. And that's my opinion.
MTV doesn't even use it often, it's just some name his buddies came up with when he got crazy. A nickname. Johnny | MTV Photo Gallery
