Listening to some of Derrick's podcasts, some like Evan and Kenny have criticized the production of the show due to what the show has become. Here's the link to part 1 of the podcast. They state it's very cookie cutter, formulaic, and has bad casting. They state how it's very boring in the house since labtops, cell phones, and etc have been revoked. They also gave advice on what would make the challenges better to watch and for the people there; like allowing fighting. Listening to them, I had an eerie feeling that not many more Challenges will be aired. Rivals seems like it's gonna be epic, but there are some things lacking.
For one, the Dailies. I can't comprehend why Bunim/Murray thought this season should be without it. Especially a season like this! They need to give the fans what they want. They should produce DVDs of the numerous seasons that they have had and stop being content with the mediocre ratings that The Challenge shows have been getting.
I've responded to the question more than once about the dailies. It's an MTV issue, not BMP's thing. With regard to DVDs, I've been told that the do not have full license to all the music used in previous challenges and RW/RR season. BTW, with a normal recurring audience of fewer than two million, it's difficult to generate sufficient sales to make the effort cost effective.
I'm not sure if this can be answered or not, or at least at this time, but I'm curious as to who else was asked to do Rivals but decline or had their planned partner declined. I know that Katie, Johanna, Susie, Tori, Abram, Adam L, 2 NOLA guys, Darrell, and supposedly Veronica were else. So if I may ask, who else was asked but said no?

KellyAnn,Brad,Dustin,Tonya, and Beth are the ines I know of.
So just for fun, we could have said that the cast could have looked like this:
Tonya/Veronica
Katie/Sarah
Johanna/Kellyanne
Tori/Camila
Susie/???
Beth/???
Brad/Darrell
Dustin/Mike Mike
Abram/Adam L
Ryan/Preston
I'm sure that BMP was aware a few cast members could easily be paired up with each other should their original partner pull out, but I'm actually not quite sure who they would have paired Susie up with. Beth is also someone I can't quite figure out. Her main "rivalries" have been Montana, Aneesa, Tonya, Tina, & Svetlana so I'm thinking maybe they could've had Robin waiting in the sidelines to be partnered up with Aneesa should Beth have said no (which she did). Susie could've been with Tonya but that would leave Veronica out. Meh. Like I said, they could've probably stretched all those "rivalries" too

I've heard from podcasts and other sites that Darrell & Brad were supposed to be a team and Ryan & Preston from New Orleans were originally paired together, but one of them changed their mind or something. I thought Johanna & KellyAnne would have been an interesting team. Katie & Sarah were supposed to be teamed together if Katie had accepted. I never heard anything about Veronica, Abram, or Adam L though.

Abram said that he was asked and Cara Maria also said he was asked. She tweeted that his partner was supposed to be Adam but he said no.

Beth didn't say no. BMP didn't know she was pregnant. She wasn't eligible to participate. There is a subtle difference.
Sarah and Katie communicate online and via twitter. That would have to be a completely manufactured rivalry. But if fiction is OK, then Beth/Aneesa would work. They have made the appearance of a rivalry in the past. Frankly, Beth would prefer to have Susie as a rival because they'd make a good pair. They'd just have to find some clip from something in the past in order to have a pretend rivalry.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Evan and Kenny have no right to even talk about casting because those 2 (and the rest of the Fresh Meat) were not even casted on The Real World so really that makes them 10X worse than your average boring castmember who had acutally been on the show.
But all of the other points are spot on.

I would have thought Sarah/Katelynn, I guess Susie/Tonya (although I honestly can't remember them being rivals) and Veronica/Katie (it's been around for far longer than Katie/Sarah).
Honestly people like Veronica and Beth, and to an extent even Laurel, have tons of "rivalries" that MTV could work with (not speaking in real life here, but based on what is edited and shown).
For a show like this though, I'd love if they paired Veronica with Julie.... I've always felt like Veronica tried to bully Katie and Tonya, but Julie was the only one who could ever really get under her skin....
I'd love to see Julie back. I didn't like her, but the girl made good tv.

I read your post without seeing the name, and I knew immediately who posted it.

What are the rules on pregnancy and the challenge? Obviously it's not safe period and I'm pretty sure Beth was like 8 or 9 months pregnant right? Does BMP automatically say no to a person who is pregnant? Or did Gladys just show up and be like "oh btw, I'm pregnant." Wasn't there also a rumor that Robin must have been pregnant during Duel 2?

Yes Robin was pregnant during Duel 2. Evan did an interview on it while the show was airing.
I think they knew of Gladys being pregnant, because I remember she said she got clearance from her doctor to do the missions but Jonny said the Challenge doctors said she couldn't. Besides, don't you think if it's not allowed for them to be pregnant, they would've sent her home before filming and flew in a replacement?
Listened to all of the Rivals podcasts so far and i think it's funny how everyone, girls and guys, are almost 100% that Ty is gay lol. And Adam R. seemed to have made a lot of friends from this challenge according to the amount of people tweeting him right after filming, but no one has said anything nice about him yet. Not even Cara on her ustream/formspring.
I also think it's hilarious when Jonna said that Camila came up to her at the Spring Break Challenge saying that she was a big fan of hers lol I can't wait to hear Theresa and Camila's podcast to see what they have to say. But what i got from Jonna/Jasmine podcast is that it was not about Camila saying the wrong name. A whole lot more went down that wasn't shown, which sucks.

Maybe I'm the only one here, but I can completely understand why they're not allowed the use of certain electronics. These people sign up to do a show for a month, and it would get boring if they just sat around and went on the computer or talked on the phone all day. Also, the more outside communication they have the more likely they are to leak information.
In regards to them going out, I know that they have a limited number of cameramen, and I can understand why they don't want people going out all the time. They shouldn't have to sacrifice a camera guy just so Kenny and Johnny can get lunch. They already have a hard enough time catching everything on camera.

Can't you legally buy seasons on iTunes/Amazon/other downloading sites? Maybe they only have the rights to the music in the more recent seasons (Gauntlet 2 is the most recent for sale). I just think it's funny that people complain online, when it's easy to find seasons available to purchase online.

Um have you seen the older challenges? It was still, actually even more entertaining and there was a computer in the house. They were allowed phones, ipods, books, being able to go out to eat or to town. So no it wouldn't cause the challenge to be boring. On the inferno 2 they had laptops to go on.
I think the duel 1 was the last challenge where they could have those ammeneties.
Thoughts on what? If it's real? I think Johnny said it was fake, but that account said that johnny didn't even try to call her to see if it was real.
Svetlana's real twitter name is "SvetssV"
She actually tweets about the challenge:rivals.

Well we saw them go to clubs and stuff on Inferno 3 and I saw Frank and Jill on a laptop on Gauntlet 3. I didn't see any electronics on Duel 2 but remember during Jenn's last duel Rachel said something to her like 'if you win the duel we can still go out to eat this weekend'. I think The Ruins is when everyone was truly miserable (even though they did go out as a group somewhat).
don't know where I should post this but I was wondering what TJ does when the cast is partying and drinking. Can TJ party with them? Can he drink with them? Can he hang out with them? Or does he just stay in his own place with production?
He has his own house. He hangs with production and plays poker and hikes and does all kinds of cool stuff. TJ doesn't drink though anyway.
and gets it in with some Costa rican chicks

I think I remember reading that Ryan wanted to do it, and even tried to get Preston to say yes as well, but Preston said, "No,". Though, Preston has said multiple times he will never do a challenge. Which sucks, because it would have cool to see how the two of them would have been in a competition setting.
Pretty sure TJ has had his personal friends at his challenge house before as well.
Yeah, when he was on the BS Report last year I think he said that he normally has at least one friend with him wherever he goes. Then on Derrick's podcast he said someone was with him for Rivals.
But i mean, can TJ hang out at the house and party with the cast, or is that against the rules?
I just feel if i was TJ, obviously i have my own friends but i mean it would be cool to come say wsup and all...unless it was in the contract that HE CANNOT SOCIALIZE with the cast

TJ doesn't show up at the house unless it's for the game itself (Voting, new rule, etc). He's also not allowed to hook up with any of the cast members.
