I don't think there will be dailies at this point. I think Cara Maria means those online web exclusives that were uploaded yesterday. They're better than nothing. I hope they post more than just two a week though. After watching the exclusives, they're pretty much dailies. Like V1man said, It's an effective cost cutting move. Instead of uploading 3-4 dailies a day, they upload 3-4 of them per episode.

I hope they post more though, 2 per episode isn't much, but what can you do.
I don't understand how not putting dailies online is cutting costs? It should be footage that they already shot, it's not like it takes any work from the reality stars since it's the same camera they used for the show (unless there acting :-/) And the ads from the videos could be a little help with making more money. Maybe I'm missing something, it just seems weird.

From BMP's perspective, it requires an expenditure of resources to archive, catalog and edit material for the dailies. It requires a continuing level of effort that is far more costly now that they are fully an HD production facility. Couple that with the major staff changes that happened last year (letting go some staff who had been there a long time), and it is perhaps not the best use of their available resources, especially given the editing requirements for other programming on other networks where the profit margins may be better. For MTV, it is also likely to be a cost/benefit question. The dailies don't come for free. While I've never seen the MTV/BMP contract, I suspect that the dailies are an optional deliverable by BMP to MTV at either a fixed or scaled cost. After a trial period for a few seasons, it would be a rational move for MTV to evaluate the profit/loss of the dailies against the benefits--ad revenue, audience. Do people watch them in sufficient numbers? Do people watch the show only because of the dailies? Will the absence of dailies lose them viewers (or even gain them)? Is there a better way to provide content at lesser cost and achieve nearly the same, exactly the same, or even better results?

So why have them for TRW and not the challenge when the two shows are in the exact same situation contract wise?
The thing I don't get as that TRW had dailies and that show was up for renewal as well. So why have them for TRW and not the challenge when the two shows are in the exact same situation contract wise?
As I've written probably too often for some readers, the challenge series is on the bubble. Thus, anything pre-decisional to cut costs (or losses) is not unwise from a business perspective, especially if they believe they can replace the dailies with less costly content with little or no down side. Take it as a given, that the very very few people invested in the show who comment here are never part of the equation for MTV. They expect that even the most ardent "haters" remain addicted to watching. They likely subscribe to a modernized version of the famous P.T. Barnum sentiment, "I don't care what the newspapers (internet forums) say about me as long as they spell my name right."
Was watching Leroy's livestream earlier and he said his top three athletes/competitors from the show in no particular order: Himself Ct Wes I found that interesting.
Maybe not this challenge specifically...but how well do you think Joey from Hollywood would do...I mean I know he's not that tall...but dude was jacked!
I really liked Joey so I would love him on a challenge, but while he's completely jacked, that doesn't mean he's actually strong. He's huge because of steroids but remember on Hollywood when he was arm-wrestling? He wasn't doing so hot then, given he was drunk.
Is there a better way to provide content at lesser cost and achieve nearly the same, exactly the same, or even better results?
What about all those bonus clips about why each team doesn't like each other, most of that we all knew, do they cost less than dailies? And yeah las vegas had dailies, the dailies are more important in the challenges than on RW. I'd rather they skip dailies for RW and just have them for the challenges.

Like with Teen Wolf, I like it but I can never remember when it comes on even 10 minutes after I see an ad for the new episode.

When I'm invested in watching a show that has been on for years on the same night (since Gauntlet 3), it's kind of hard not to remember what day and time it comes on, especially in the summer.

If I were producing this challenge, I would have edited something like those packages before the challenge concept was approved to get MTV's buy off on the cast for the challenge, so those would have been part of the show pitch from BMP to MTV. [You don't think MTV just says "BMP, please make us another of your great challenges..." ? MTV is hands-on all the way -- it's their money and their jobs on the line.[
I'm sure they already factor it in or it's not important to them, but going to the dailies reminds me to watch the episodes, especially in the summer when it is easy to forget TV since there is so little new stuff on. Since Bacchus always creates the episode thread on Wednesdays, you can get your same reminder here. Problem solved!
Really? Five percent probably just set their DVR and watch it when it shows up on the list of recorded shows.
How come spoilers for the challenge are usually easily revealed before the show airs? But for other shows, spoilers are hard to find. And did anyone notice that now the veterans of the challenge go home first rather than the new comers? Before the rookies use to first all the time. The game has really changed

The best known ones are for The Amazing Race, Survior, and The Bachelorette/Bachelor/Bachelor Pad. AND, ask the mods here... I suspect there is absolutely nothing easy about finding spoilers for RW or the Challenges. Some people are good enough at blind research to have very good careers within the US intelligence community.

I watch them mainly to see what some of the Real World vets I am familiar with are up to. I really tend to lose track of dates and time easily. But for my cellphone to look at when I need to know, I might not even remember the month. Those things are not that relevant to me, especially in the summer, when it can be so easily found out otherwise--just a waste of brainspace.
When Real World casts and others sign contracts with BMP, how long is the contract up for? Is it the rest of their lives or is it for like 10 years?
When Real World casts and others sign contracts with BMP, how long is the contract up for? Most reality shows encumber a person for one year from the date of their appearance on TV. At Vision 1 we contract through the entire following calendar year, but we are very, very liberal in making exceptions because we want people to be on multiple shows. It's good for our business.
The preview for next week looks like a lame Challenge--looks like they are pushing a clunker around with a trackhoe--different but not really a physically demanding challenge.

I know it's fun to see a tv show where people are suspended 120 feet in the air and the slightest mistake would end their lives, but we aren't stunt persons. That **** just isn't cute for the day-to-day. Besides, the word "challenge" can denote more than just the physically strenuous; some challenges can be for the pure fun of it too. Perhaps if the series gets renewed we could have a Challenge: Coliseum so we can attempt to quench your bloodlust. Oh, and as an aside, those Trackhoes aren't cuddly like me, they have been known to decapitate people. If decapitation isn't hardcore then idk what is...
Trackhoes aren't cuddly like me...
Damn it! Now you've made me spray coffee out of my nose and all over my keyboard. :tease:

Its an entertainment program and I don't find pushing cars with trackhoes or hanging upside down particularly entertaining. Given the shows questionable renewal, maybe they need to come up with better/different challenges to bring in newer viewers. I could find an Easter egg hunt in the jungle while tied together with each person wearing a patch over one eye more entertaining and it would be far less stunt person like and could be done by a pair of 5 year olds. I could find a high-stakes board game entertaining with the right people and the right edit. I have no "bloodlust" but what I do lust for is a season with something that is better than the same old same old. As for the physical challenge part, I would be just as happy to see a straight up swimming race instead of most of the silliness they come up with.

Your annoyances are best directed toward production, not her.

With a variety of challenges it gives more people a chance at winning and being safe. This is why I liked the old challenges more because not all the missions and eliminations were physical they were a variety which helped us see the strengths and weaknesses of each player.

It's nice to see something out of left field that isn't the usual "I must be a bodybuilder to survive in a challenge" type of mission. It evens the playing field a bit and spices up the game.

Thats probably the issue with having several 1 hour episodes instead of the 30 minute ones (Less challenges = less variety)

I think it's easy to sit and talk down everything, but I like the fun/not merely physical aspects in some of these challenges. And I haven't seen a challenge like this in a while personally, there has been many swimming/height challenges (almost constantly even), so I'm glad to see a little change up here and there. :)
