Haha, I went back and watched the parts mentioned already! Some I thought could be Silence, others were just more confusion that fit with the story. I had also heard that there was graffiti somewhere in season 4 that said "silence will fall". I forget where I read that so I'll have to look back and see if it has any truth to it.
Of course a lot of circumstance is being shoehorned in to fit the current arc, but it's still fun anyway!

I love it. Of course, my mum would not get the underlying significance (not a Whovian.)

Love it! I give the Angels the advantage though because as long as the Silence are looking at them they are made of stone and can't blink!
WHAT THE **** IS HAPPENING ON DOCTOR WHO
I clicked like 30 times. I still don't f****** don't get it! Haha.
A cute piece from the Today show about Doctor Who... http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2011/05/09/doctor-who-premiere-sees-big-jump-in-live-7-ratings-on-bbc-america/91971"]“DOCTOR WHO” PREMIERE SEES BIG JUMP IN LIVE PLUS 7 ON BBC AMERICA

Doctor Who boss 'hates' fans who spoil show's secrets I do too.
Luckily I do my best to avoid major spoilers. I'm okay with little things being leaked but Doctor Who is definitely one of those shows that I like to watch unfold and be unspoiled while watching. Like he said, the majority of us are "spoiler-phobes" and followed his request not to reveal anything. It only takes one person to mess it up though.

The less I know and the more mysterious it seems, the more I fixate on coming up with theories of my own. That's what makes it fun. DW is probably the show I am most spoilerphobic about as the reveals are so crucial to its magic.

Awww, poor Rory! ;)
Great start to a two parter, but sadly BBCA has decided to toss in a week break and now we will be about of sequence with BBC (at least until the break.) Might just watch part two next week anyway... I'm digging the story line (I'm the Doctor!)...and I'd especially love a whovian "Moon" twist.
It seems as they they are doing a full reboot with the effects turned up to 11 (Starz original series?) Hopefully they don't dump the previous mythology of the series and its connection to Doctor Who...
Oh that has me so excited now! I don't think they will mess with it too much. Not sure if they will mention Doctor Who though since it's not a daily topic of conversation for the TW crew (plus it's not like Starz has any reason to plug another show) but I'm sure they will stick with the basics of Jack's past and how Torchwood came about. Oh and I thought the thread needed a more fitting title.
Oh and I thought the thread needed a more fitting title.
Isn't it redundant in that Torchwood is an anagram of Doctor Who? ;)
Isn't it redundant in that Torchwood is an anagram of Doctor Who? ;)
True but maybe we can bring in some fans who only know about Torchwood and not Doctor Who! Otherwise, we might as well name it "The Thread Where Bacchus and Tatertots Talk About Their Favorite Shows (And You Should Like Them Too!)".
Otherwise, we might as well name it "The Thread Where Bacchus and Tatertots Talk About Their Favorite Shows"
I like the name, but you are right.
And You Should Like Them Too!
They should! These are GREAT shows! Hopefully, with Torchwood being on Starz it will build a new breed of Whovians on this side of the pond. As you know, the reason I dug into the reboot was because Jack disappeared in the Tardis and I just needed to know what was going on in there. I have a feeling if the right notes are hit with Miracle day, it could push a lot of people into wanting more. It would help if there was a crossover in the near future. I want Captain Jack back too! :D

I'm also hoping more people want to know about the series after the Starz version. Capt Jack is always a plus. Since this year seems to be centered around River, it's probably best if they save him for next season. Though it would be great to have the whole gang together for at least one episode!
Exactly. Just like you, a lot of people find DW through Torchwood because it's billed as "more adult" instead of the family centered show DW is.
That was the key for me being attracted to Torchwood in the first place. I had a lot of memories of Doctor Who, but all I remembered about the series was really bad puppets that were supposed to be monsters (although now, I appreciate them!) Torchwood on the other hand had a cool feel from the start.
Though it would be great to have the whole gang together for at least one episode!
I'd love it, but I'm thinking next series. He is a favorite and I can't wait to see his return in July (and I'm interested in the backstory they tell. I hope they do a good job.) I personally loved Spartacus (yes, I admit I am a mouth breathing younger male member of society.) I think Starz can add "Wow" and still keep the magic/mythology.

I'm als pretty sure Davies helped write the original story for this series so it's not like they have random people just coming in and adapting it for America. Edit: Yup. IMDB is crediting him as a writer for all of the episodes which gives me a lot more faith in the Starz production. We need to talk about Doctor Who, B.
We need to talk about Doctor Who, B.
I'm in a Doctor Who blackout until I can see the episode that "everyone" has already seen (legally or otherwise) and talking about everywhere (which basically means I have to be very careful where I go on the internet.) You can't even get the episode via iTunes... ...and media companies wonder why there is such rampant illegal downloading of their television shows.

I am horrible at blackouts so I did download it but I always watch it again on BBCA. At least this time I won't have to worry about being spoiled during the DW Confidential. I'm so sad that the mid season break is almost upon us! Thank goodness there is Torchwood this summer to fill in the gap.
