So was this their way of telling us that the contract was renewed? Great interview!
What do you think of Jersey Shore?
I think Jersey Shore is great. I think it's brilliantly cast. I watched an episode the other night and I was roaring with laughter. They can make a whole episode out of someone being late to go out to the bar. I'm amazed how successful it is. And I'm a little jealous. But my guess is — and here's your quote! — The Real World will be on the air a long time after Jersey Shore leaves. Just like The Real World has survived The Osbournes, The Hills, and Laguna Beach.
Looks like BMP/MTV may have some trouble on their hands and for future seasons, surprised her case wasn't thrown out. I guess if BMP in the future thinks someone is intoxicated, they'll have to make sure they catch them the next morning when sobered up:
Viacom Must Face `Real World' Suit Because of Drinking Claim, Judge Rules. - Bloomberg
"Viacom said in court papers that producers who were at the house when Amirmotazedi was filmed didn’t believe she was intoxicated and that it’s the program’s policy to keep intoxicated individuals from entering or remaining in “The Real World” residence. " --Found this to be funny, esp after RW: Vegas2's premiere.
That lawsuit will settle before its over. MTV/Viacom will flood her with legal fees and MTV won't want to risk being in front of a jury in DC where people blame the CIA for everything from the weather, to drugs, to the paint peeling on their houses.
I am not terribly worried about the Real World renewal. I think the Challenges are a different story...
Taken from the RW: Vegas spoiler thread:
Wow, I didn't know Nani breaks up with her boyfriend to hook up with Adam. That's gross. The fact that she's watched him be so slimy and hook up with that one girl yet still gets with him makes her lose points in my book. Haha, has any Real Worlder ever stayed with their significant other that they had before the show?? None come to mind.
I think there are actually more than you would think. I am going to try my best, and also I'm only going to go back as far as I can remember...
Sahar (B2NO)
Erika (DC)
Katelynn (Brooklyn) (I guess. I honestly don't remember but in the other thread it was mentioned that she did)
Ryan (Brooklyn) - I'm pretty sure he and his girlfriend were still together at the end of the season.
Sarah (Hollywood)
Trisha (Sydney) - Well, I think they broke up and she was hooking up with that one guy, but I kind of think they ended up getting back together, so maybe this doesn't count...
Dunbar (Sydney) - amazingly, I think they were somehow still together...
Stephen (Denver)
Svetlana (Key West) - I think she had a boyfriend? And I think they were together the whole time?
Paula (Key West) - Again, I know she had a boyfriend, but it might have been an ex-boyfriend actually... and now I don't remember if they broke up or what.
Lacey (Austin)
Frankie (San Diego)
I can honestly say I can't remember anything from before Vegas in terms of boyfriends/girlfriends....

I can't believe Dunbar stayed with his girlfriend but now that you mention it wasn't he still with her even on The Ruins?? He cheated on her with like three different people, LOL.

If I remember correctly, Baya and Ryan didn't begin dating until after the show, because I think they announced it at the reunion.. but it's possible he and his girlfriend broke up during filming. I can't remember.
And yeah Dunbar and his girlfriend were together way longer than they probably should have been. Not sure if they were together during The Ruins or not, but they were somehow still dating once his season ended... some people just can't seem to let go I guess? Haha.

Ryan and Michelle broke up immediately after he went home from the show. I think it was the first time they saw each other the week the cast wrapped.
I went back and watched the whole Hawaii season again this weekend, and I'm not sure where I put it before, but I think it's the best season of the show! It had such a strong cast that I really felt connected with more than any other cast! I don't know why I didn't give it this much credit before. I didn't watch the show watch the season during it's original run, but now I really wish I'd been into the show during it's glory days.

6 out of 172...what a great statistic.
Although, to be fair...I'm sure most of them have done something.
A few others that come to mind that in my opinion have done something fairly substantial:
Kevin Powell
Rachel Campos
Kyle Brandt
Eric Nies
Mallory Snyder

I would add Pedro(he was an inspiration to just about anyone who watched that show) and Trishelle(she's a successful poker player)

In their defense, even they probably don't recognize him with the Jesus look like a bunch of other people. Just watch Syrus's reaction at the Real World Awards when he saw him.

I find the whole thing preposterous. The implication that others have not made something with their lives is ridiculous. All of those people out there working hard and trying to be good parents and/or doing good outside the limelight without drawing attention to themselves have, in my opinion, done and are doing a heck of a lot more than Mike The Miz by winning some freaking wrestling title. Heck, with some of these people's pasts, that they are able to get out of bed and put one foot in front of the other is impressive enough for me.

They are trying to show people who are "famous." It is MTV.com.... Mike the Miz is the most famous real world person. There is not even a discussion that can be debated on that.

But MTV tags the story as "Real Worlders who made something of their lives..." How much of a stretch is it for you intellectually to connect the dot? Apparently to the idiots in MTV marketing, "famous" and making "something" of one's life are synonymous.
I call BS. The story must be embarrassing to anyone who isn't incredibly shallow.

Depends on how you define "famous" and how operative "is" is to you. My grandmother knows who Pedro was but I bet she has never heard of the Miz. While time will tell, I doubt that when Mike dies he will be eulogized by the President of the United States. I think Pedro is maybe credited in death with having been more than he was, but he was nonetheless pretty "famous".

More people now-a-days have heard of the Miz over Pedro.

I would have to disagree. People who know The Miz are either Real World or wrestling fans. I think Pedro is still remembered by many more people. Even people who never watched the show know about his story. In just 2009 he had a movie made about him. I don't think people have forgotten.

I never said that I believe that lol. He said it depends on how somebody defines "famous." And that was kind of my definition on it :D
I honestly don't know who is more famous...
I think if by "famous" one is thinking in terms of celebrity, then Miz isclearly a bigger celebrity than Pedro was for sure. I think if you think of "famous" in terms of being known, then it likely goes to Pedro IMO. I am not a fan of either of them. To me the most famous one is Coral because she was, in her day, the total package in my mind--a sexy, strong-willed smart patooty

And what does this say about the state of our culture, such as it is?
e.g., Rome -- Bread and circuses before the fall...

This is an entire other debate. I do agree that Pedro did a lot and put awareness out there; however we do live in a culture that pushes homosexuality and "gay" issues aside. The Miz is on TV every week with 5 million people watching. He is starting to become a recognizable name, like the rock. So it really does come down to our culture.

....who cares? Back in the 90s it was taboo for a person with AIDs to be on tv. He broke that barrier and now we see all different kinds of people on the telly. Right now, the Miz is the focus; 15-18 years ago Pedro would have been.

Pedro's story was purpose-driven, and in the better days of Bunim-Murray represented an important, if not iconic, matter of conscience be people who believed they could use the media "Bully Pulpit" to advance relevant social change. While I personally like Mike and am happy for his career success, entertainment (fake) wrestling is neither iconic nor culturally uplifting.

I understand that but not everybody cares about the first man to be on TV with aids some odd years ago. Some people care more about the Miz being champion than Pedro Zemora living with aids who appeared on television. I don't blame them...
