Anyone else watching this show? It is my current obsession and so far the second season is starting off even better than the first. It stars Timothy Olyphant as Raylan Givens who is even better here than he was in Deadwood. I also love Walter Goggins, from The Shield, as Boyd Crowder but I don't want to ruin too much about his story for those who haven't watched the show yet. It airs on FX at 10pm on Wednesdays, so check it out! This is my desperate attempt to get Bacchus to watch because I know he will love it and I want to talk about how awesome this show is.
I'm still working my way through firefly, but maybe I'll queue up the season 1 discs next. ;)

Yes! I LOVE this show. I like Elmore Leonard, but I LOOOOVE Timothy Olyphant! I fell in love with him on Deadwood so as soon as I found out I had the chance to watch him do some gun-slinging again - in a cowboy hat! No less- I was in. Season 1 was good, but I'm really loving season 2. TO is such a damn good actor, as are most of the actors on this series. I enjoy the stories, the pace, and the candid dialogue that goes on between Raylan/Boyd and Raylan and the other Marshals. But also, Mags Bennett gives me nightmares, she'll be a great villian. :(

The pilot was awesome and then the show kind of fell into a typical "crime of the week" drama for a few episodes which were fine and good tv but not as awesome as the show can be. Once they started to really explore the Crowder gang it picked up steam and never looked back. The Season 1 finale was some awesome gun slinging! I love the Raylan/Boyd scenes too. They definitely have a complicated relationship and I like that they are letting us into their past bit by bit. How much did you love the scene with Boyd snapping while driving his truck in the episode two weeks ago? I really don't know where he is going to go this season but I am totally enthralled with his story. His new glasses are too perfect. It's like Hipster Boyd has come to town and you just don't know what he is thinking! That scene with Mags in the last episode was brilliant. I am definitely scared of her and her famous apple pie. ;) I'm having myself a mini Deadwood marathon right now because I need my Olyphant fix and I don't want to wait until Wednesday for the next Justified to see Federal Marshall Givens on my screen again.
Yes! Great success!
Sadly there is no instant play...
Sadly there is no instant play...
I know. :( I did half the season on discs and half "online" while waiting for the next disc to come since I didn't start watching until after the first season finished.
I guess the good news is that if the first disc ever comes, I have the missed episodes from season 2 on demand so I could watch right through...

Boyd: "Oh, we can talk about him, sure!" - as he drags him down the street in a headlock. It. Was. Awesome. I went from being totally creeped out by Boyd in the beginning to having somewhat of a sympathetic affection for him. He is a little nutty, but I think he tries to be good, y'know? He can't help it if these SWEET! Low-Risk(?!) drug-deals just fall into his lap. :unknw:
I guess the good news is that if the first disc ever comes, I have the missed episodes from season 2 on demand so I could watch right through...
I would say just start with S2 since you could pick up on everything pretty easily and just watch S1 later but Boyd's story will be a lot more interesting if you watch him evolve during S1. It stinks that there is such a long wait but that should just tell you how awesome this show is!

Oh Boyd, I wish I could quit you!

They haven't really given her much to do in a while so she is just kind of there for me right now. It seems like that may change soon though, so we'll see. That really is my only complaint about the show. They aren't very good at having compelling story lines for the female characters so far. Rachel was on the sidelines for a while in season 1 and I'm glad they finally did a Rachel-centric episode so we could learn more about her. Winona has had more to do but it's mostly been as "Gary's wife" or "Raylan's ex/lover" and we still don't really know a lot about her away from the guys in her life. I'm not asking for them to become the center of attention just flesh out the characters a little more so I feel more invested in them. Speaking of female characters, Mags' little "talk" with Loretta gave me the chills! "I'm looking forward to our time together, Loretta..."

I hope they keep her around more. I love her rapport with Raylan. Winona I'm kinda iffy on. I liked her at first-as she was an alternative to Ava-but she's becoming a little too wishy-washy for my liking. Besides, if Raylan Givens wants you WHY THE HELL DO YOU EVEN HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IT?? And yeah, Mags gives me the straight up chills. I don't think I'll ever think of Apple Pie the same... :eek_yello:

When they played the song "Stand by Your Man" after the Gary episode in season 1, I thought it was going to be left as that for a little while but then it seemed like they forgot that whole thing and had Winona just flip the switch. Very odd. She is very wishy-washy and I just want her to make a decision already. Raylan's confused faces are pretty funny though so if she keeps bringing those out of him during their conversations, I can deal with her a little longer. I really don't know what she has to think about either, especially when she is comparing Raylan to Gary. No contest as far as I'm concerned. So this weeks episode was also amazing! How about Mags with the hammer? I would not like to be part of her family! I was actually pretty proud of Boyd and it looks like he has actually changed for the better, even if he is still getting drawn to criminal activities. He still is Boyd after all. ;)
Gaaaah I totally forgot to comment on last week's ep. It was awesome!! Ugh Mags and her boys are SO. CREEPY. She wailed on him with that hammer only for him to fall in her lap and say "I love you momma, I love you, I'm so sorry!". All she can coldly say is something along the lines of "I'm letting you keep your shooting hand." Said it before, will say it again....COLD. BLOODED. I'm really glad that Raylan reached out to Loretta in the end and gave her that cell phone. I'd like to see more of her, and I feel like we will be soon. I loved pretty much every move Boyd made last week. From eavesdropping through his cell phone, to soaking the (generator?) in the dishwater, switching the batteries and blasting cap out. SUCKAS!!! And I was actually glad (and well, kinda proud) that he did get some of that money and offered it to Ava. He is such an amazing character. He's got so many good deliveries: Gun Thug: Boyd, what the hell are you doing? Boyd, standing at the sink: Dishes. As for last nights episode...meh. I thought it was kind of a filler. I wasn't really interested in the bad guy(s) of the week story, and Winona, well, she was just acting a fool. They only showed Ava and Boyd for like the first 5 minutes, and I would have been much more interested to see a continuation of that. What was the favor he needed from Ava? What is he having her lie about? What is the plan with that? I don't get it. I LOOOOOVED the scene with Art and the other "old" guy chasing eachother sans oxygen and with bad knees. Hee! What a fun "chase" scene. I love how this show throws in things like that. I think Art is a great character too, he also throws out some pretty funny one-liners. What did you think [strike]all[/strike] Taters?

That "chase" scene was too funny. For a second when the other plane started I thought the guy was faking it again. As for Ava and Boyd, are you talking about when he asks her at the kitchen table to lie for him? The last scene from last week? If so, he was just saying that he needed her to lie about being home and not at work so she could alibi him out and they could keep the money and not go to jail.

I meant from this week at the beginning when they were being interviewed by the cops. It seems like their story was totally different than what I had thought it was going to be and they seemed to be getting drilled pretty well considering he had a "tight alibi". I think I'll have to go back and watch those scenes. EDIT: Wooo HOOO! We made it to page 2 Taters! ;)

The interviewer just thought Boyd fit the bill, like pretty much everyone else would, and tried to catch them in a lie so he could lock him up.

Ahh, ok. That makes sense. Also, how much are you loving Boyd's fork-in-the-electric-socket hair? It's such an entertaining contrast to his deadpan delivery and manner of speech. Not to mention WG's already wild eyes. So cool.

What's up with that? I get that he probably doesn't wear it inside the office but such a great part of Raylan is the hat, what he does with it and how he takes it off. Or that little tip of the cap! Swoon!
I'm still working my way through firefly, but maybe I'll queue up the season 1 discs next. ;)
You're watching Firefly? That is awesome in and of itself. Also, I heard Timothy had a new show out. I just hope his role in it here is as good as he was in Scream 2.
I don't want to cause alarm... But to put things in perspective, The Real World Las Vegas pulled a 1.3/4 A18-49 this week and Justified pulled a 0.8/2 A18-49 (Justified was down 20% from last week.) I'm sure it is a quality show, which I will watch when Netflix decides to buy a second set of discs, but I am concerned out of the gate it will be cancelled before it "ends."

*Lalalalalala la la la lalalala can't hear you* But really, that is suprising to me because it's gotten really good reviews across the board and I've honestly not met anyone who has seen it and hasn't loved it. Hopefully this trend doesn't continue. I will be so, so disappointed. Too many awesome actors in this series... EDIT: do my viewings count if I DVR it?? :(

Like Sons of Anarchy? If they aren't much different I could see them keeping it around. Those numbers are pretty similar to last season though and it was renewed for this season. I think if it can jump back up to somewhere around a 0.9/3 in that age group it has a good chance of getting renewed.
Just looking real quick, the last ratings report for Sons of Anarchy is a 1.8/5 A18-49. The reason I brought up The Real World, is that it is on the edge of cancellation.
No way? But I thought JM said TRW would continue indefinetly? Anyway, I'm currently watching a live stream of a japanese tv show so once that finishes I'll try to catch up on Justified.
