Everything took a turn going downhill for the Real World once the Brooklyn season started (8 cast members) the only person I liked out of Brooklyn was Baya and I watched whole season just because of her. I didn't watch the Cancun season at all so I'm clueless on that season. I can't talk down on the DC season because I love Emily. The New Orleans season was whack and I can't believe I watched that whole season.

The season started going downhill long before Brooklyn in my opinion.
The first 12 were all classic.

As for recent seasons, the last REALLY great season for me was Brooklyn. Cancun was okay and I really didn't like DC or New Orleans. It sucks cause for awhile there they were on a role with REALLY great seasons (Key West, Sydney, Hollywood, Brooklyn) but lately they've been mediocre if not ******.
Bored & I haven't done this in ages so I'm going to rank the Seasons I've seen from my favorite to least favorite..
Red - Loved
Blue - Liked
Orange - Decent
Black - Boring or lost interest
1. Las Vegas

I liked what I saw of Paris except for I got sick of pool table scenes. Chicago was okay except I got sick of telephone room scenes. I liked the first New Orleans what I saw of it. I never really recall seeing the earlier seasons except sporadically when they used to show old seasons in the run up to the new seasons whenever that was.
I actually kind of loved Paris. It's kind of boring, but it actually seemed like "The Real World", like they got into dumb fights over peanut butter that I could totally see some of my friends doing. I also think it was the perfect balance to Vegas, and even San Diego. I think it partially gets such a bad rap because it's sandwiched in between two of the most popular/highest rated seasons. I actually did not like Vegas all that much. However, it was the season that made me realize that people on Real World have the strangest names.
Austin was the first season where I actually thought "Wow, I hate these people."
I think New Orleans 2 was the best season since San Diego. I really liked it.
With the excepting of a few seasons, I've seen every episode. Here's mine:

Seems like older Real World seasons will be available on Hulu Plus (subscription Hulu). Which seasons will be offered...not yet known
Very cool. Well, cool if the really old seasons are shown. I would buy a subscription to see the ones I missed and the ones I loved.
Pretty much EVERYONE I know does this! They watch the first three or four episodes and then just lose interest/stop watching. I'm a trooper and I keep watching no matter how bad the season but that's just because I've watched since the very beginning and can't stop out of nostalgia.
It is hard to quit watching shows you've watched for years and been so invested in. But I think I've finally done it with RW. The challenges are more difficult to part with, but I think I'm hanging on by a thread. The last one was pretty decent, though.

Finally someone who likes DC as much as i do, i think we have a similar taste in a certain type of drama that's on this show.
Just a little trivia for those who wonder what people were doing before appearing on The Real World...
Before being cast on The Real World: Los Angeles, Beth Stolarczyk was the personal assistant (PA) to Alex Rose of the band "Guns and Roses."
While it was airing I didn't really get much out of Real World D.C., but then I recently rewatched it out of boredom (since available seasons are limited) and really enjoyed it. I don't know though, I think it's because I just really like that cast.
EDIT: And those of you talking about liking RW Paris, I really enjoyed Paris! It was a breath of fresh air after Vegas, which was almost too much.
I really enjoyed Paris as well ,I consider the first 14 classics after that I stop falling in love with cast and just realied on an indivdual person to carry a season.
I just started watching RW: Las Vegas (1) and I'm just wondering why everyone thinks it was a crazy season, and was a little too much... I dont get it... It's kind of boring. Please tell me, Because I am actually interested to hear what you guys have to say.

That's what happened to me too, while DC was airing i was not into it at all. And while NOLA was on, i couldn't even remember the cast members of the DC except for Mike. But during Cutthroat, i became interested in Ty and Emily so i went back and watched their season and fell in love with every cast member. LD
I didn't get a chance to see Paris nor B2NY, i've been trying to buy them from ioffer.com for weeks now. I love CT, Coral, and The Miz so much on the challenges, it only makes sense that i watch their seasons lol.

I think Vegas I was more like soft-core adult entertainment in its day the way Steven and Trishelle bunnied it up, but beyond that, it wasn't nearly as great as the myth holds IMO. I haven't seen all of it, but it never seemed like a party season the way people now describe it. I think maybe all the stars going to the Palms afterwards to party inflated that seasons image, importance, and effects.

For its time it was very scandelous. Obviously that doesn't hold true now, but the Trishelle, Brynn and Steven kiss in the hot tub, was "hot" and Trishelle's pregnancy scare was big news. Also they lived in a hotel, so everyone was almost naked 24/7, whether it was by the pool or working at the night club.
I really enjoyed that season.
Remember everything is opinion based.
My 10 favorite seasons are:
New Orleans
Chicago
San Diego
B2NY
Seattle
Miami
Las Vegas
Austin
New York
Key West
The 5 worst seasons:
Cancun
Sydney
Philly
Hollywood
DC or London

For DC i had to rewatch it to actually like even though Josh i one of my favorite castmemebers.
Okay so Jemmye punched Ryan in RW New Orleans, and according to the trailer it looks like Adam shoves Leroy in RW Las Vegas.
Are they becoming more lenient with physical altercations because more fights = higher ratings? Normally they would tolerate hardly anything, and Adam's shove was just as bad as Trisha's to Parisa in RW Sydney.

I think they take into account the situation and the parties involved. I think they let Andrew decide Ty's fate after the whole over the wall incident in DC and Andrew decided to let him stay.

Yea, on the real world they always let the roommates decide. It's on the challenges where nothing is tolerated but screaming in each others faces. I think they should take away the no hitting rule out of the contract. Just think of how many people would NOT get in someone's face so quickly knowing that they have permission to hit lol.
I definitely think Paris was one of the better seasons. I loved the whole dynamic in the house, very *****y and a lot of fighting.
My favourite moment was when they all went to a restaurant and started arguing at the table over something petty, then some Brits on the next table told them to shut up and they all got kicked out of the restaurant.
Paris was history, it amazed me that the cast members were actually scared for there lives, being Americans in Europe during the invasion of Iraq.
And Simon was a breath of fresh air, telling the Americans what a ****** Bush was.
Does anyone know if The Real World contract was renewed?
As far as I know, that decision has not been made yet, or at least it has not been announced. Michael Martin from the M-M Agency indicated on his blog awhile back that the ratings for Vegas might be the make or break factor for renewal. I am not worried that much about this half of the franchise getting renewed.

And Simon was a breath of fresh air, telling the Americans what a ****** Bush was.
I had completely forgot about that!!! Remember how angry Leah got at him......little did everyone know that in about a year or so most people would agree 100% with Simon.
And to the member who is now watching the original Las Vegas and does not think it's scandalous, that has always been the case with the Real World. When Hawaii came out it was SCANDALOUS with all the nudity, and ***, and alcohol and really got people talking big time......now if you go back and watch it after seeing recent seasons it's not so scandalous. Same goes for Las Vegas. The threesome and pregnancy scare (etc.) were pretty new to the series at that point so it was shocking and unexpected. Back then we didn't have people getting black out drunk and sleeping around like they do every episode of Real World now. So I agree and disagree.......for when it was aired it WAS shocking and racy but now it can actually kind of be considered tame in comparison (for example) to a season like Cancun where people were having *** with Moms and throwing up on one another in the first episode, lol.
I think that people have become desensitized to a lot of the backstory/emotional scars stuff over the years. Viewers are bombarded with it everywhere they turn so RW isn't really as unique for that sort of stuff. America has been Oprah-ized to death. I would like to see RW go in the opposite direction and try for light-hearted, good natured people pursuing careers in things like comedy and music for awhile. Shows like American Idol and Glee are kicking reality TV's butts and there is a niche there BMP should pursue as a hybrid premise for the franchise (which is also why I think Nashville or Memphis would be good cities to drop seasons from due to the music potential).

They tried that with DC but people called it boring so they went back to NOLA types of "entertainment" and saw how well that did so continued it with Vegas.
It's a double edged sword. Either go for the "entertaining" factor with fighting, hooking up, and more fighting and get higher ratings. Or go for the "real" factor with pursuing dreams and actually being adults in certain situations and get lower ratings.

I don't feel like they really did try it with DC. The first half of the season was all Ty-centered drama and I stopped making an effort to watch. Even what they showed of the guy in the band, Josh I think, they showed it more as a mockery of what he was trying to do IMO and only showcased it as part of the crazy chick's issues.
They could've made that season enjoyable there were a few good backstories. Callie's weight issue, Emily growing up in a cult, Ty's abuse, Mike's story, Erika's depression but instead they tried to make it a season with hook ups and drama rather than about the people
