They've played well known songs before. On Gauntlet 1, they played Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" during that log rolling mission. They used to play well known songs a lot during the golden age of Road Rules too. I remember on Northern Trail they played Semi Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind when they were jumping in the lake to get a clue or something.
*Sigh* I miss those days.
I was just watching some Fresh Meat episodes and wow, those were the good old days. Everyone got an even amount of air time and the challenge overall was so much better than the sequel.

What struck me as very different from the old school days is the cast members seemed to have more fun. I heard that nowadays, production is super-strict and doesn't let them go out much anymore, it's basically like prison for a month, which makes some cast members wanna leave. Katie Doyle even said, she was ok with going into the Gulag b/c she was kinda over it by the end.

I can understand, though, why they aren't allowed to go out much. First of all, someone always gets in a fight, or pushes someone down the stairs (Johnny), or drunkenly climbs the mast of a sailboat (Tonya)... it seems like a liability. But more importantly, there are, like, 30 of them. It's probably a lot harder to coordinate outings for 30 than it is for the 7 or 8 on RW.
It's not just the going out, it's the entire atmoshpere that changed. It's not as much fun as earlier challenges for a lot of reasons, one being they can't go out, but but others including lack of privacy and how they are treated.

Yeah, that I don't understand. Wouldn't BMP want the cast to enjoy their time there? I remember when they used to have fights AND toga parties instead of endless fights. They do seem to all be pretty unhappy most of the time, at least in the footage shown in the episodes.
Also, I know they don't want them to leak anything, but wouldn't it be kind of a good idea to give them limited access to social networking sites? I mean, for the most part, we wouldn't know any of the cast if it wasn't for the fact that they drop off the face of the twitter-earth.
It has to have gotten bad when we almost had a player quit specifically because production wouldn't let them make a single phone call to make sure their job is fine with them being there for the remainder of the challenge.
The funny thing is, if production let them use the computer for 5 minutes a day and let them update their social networking sites, (without giving away spoilers or anything related to the game) it would throw off and confuse people who get spoilers, from the castmembers who get eliminated and start using it again. I think it would be smart, so it would make people confused and not know who is really home and really not. Not everyone is so active so lets say out of 20, 15 people would probably check their sites, and 5 wouldn't.
It's not the production, at least not for me. It was the cast of Fresh Meat and the editing that made that show so much superior to FM2. The Fresh Meat 2 cast was so much worst on the alumni side. But i actually think the FM2 people are much better than the first bunch.
These people are motivated by money. If BMP wants to keep things a secret, they should simply offer up money to everyone who keeps their name off a spoiler list.

Then people can spoil the whole game and cast and just tell people to not post their own name.... Wouldn't help.

I think the point was an extra bonus. The rest of the contractual agreement (regarding keeping mum about the results and the other cast) still stands.

Yep.. If they really believed that spoilers costs them money then they should devise a motivation for there to be no spoilers. If, for instance, I thought I might get an extra $5K if no spoilers get out, I would find a way to have someone cover my social networking or I would build a fake reason well ahead of time for my absence>>> Going Horseback riding....Really into the horses lately....my right hand and arm are going to be in a cast for the next 6 weeks after I fell from a horse so may not be on as much as typing is hard.... and have a friend post messages to my facebook that would mesh with the story. "Glad to see you last night. That orange cast is just soooooooo you :)"

Haha, I really enjoyed reading that!
I'm a Kenny fan and I thought that wasn't funny. I agree that he's better at just pulling out the wise-*** remarks rather than having lines...but Johnny and Timmy were really no better.
I'm sure everyone's seen it but the three part podcast with Evan is out on Talent Network News. They talk a lot about BMP's casting decisions and Evan says how had they done it right on the newer Real Worlds (in his opinion) people like him, Kenny, and Derrick would never be asked back because they would have so much talent to choose from. They also talk about how Derrick is at least partially responsible as to why they don't really get to go out anymore.
That is such a load of ****. NONE of the Stale Meat have any buisness talking about the casting because they never made it on to The Real World themselves. They are basically Real World rejects. They coudn't even get on The Real World themselves so what makes them think they have anything to offer to these shows?

I agree, they don't offer anything interesting. I don't know why they keep getting asked back but oh well. But it's not just fresh meat, it's some of the real worlders too who keep getting asked back. They add nothing unique to this show.
The Fresh Meat 2 batch is a much better bunch than the first though.
I do not agree with them asking Laurel, CM, Mandi, and Brandon back 2 times in a row though.
In my opinion, it's not necessarily how many you do, but how much camera time you get. I never really got sick of seeing Derrick or Brad, even though they did so many challenges, because when they were on, they really weren't the focus that often. Sure Derrick got a decent amount of focus on Gauntlet 2 and Brad just did on Cutthroat, but they weren't hogging the camera time. But then there's people like Evan, Kenny, Johnny, Paula, Jenn, etc. who not only get asked back very often, but they also get a buttload more of camera time than pretty much everyone else. Sure the FM2 cast sucked and none of the recent Real Worlds have provided us with much in terms of real drama OR being a good competitor (****, there's really only been like 2 or 3 guys and 2 girls who have done halfway decent) but if they actually spread the camera time around, I wouldn't have that much of a problem with certain people.

And that's another problem. They don't seem to focus on alot of people nowadays. Alot of the cast don't even seem to be there half the time.
I really cannot sift through all these pages can someone please tell me as of Cut Throat who the challenge regulers are Im trying to figure something out.Thank You

Cara Maria
Laurel
Brandon
The only reason everyone says the FM were bad casting decisions was because they were introduced through the FM series. Had they been regular roommates on the RW, I don't think they'd get as much backlash as they do. So don't blame them, blame BMP.
Also, calling them Real World rejects is dumb because they made it further than everyone on this MB ever has & probably ever will. I like all of the FM, of course when they're thrown in on the challenge you won't get to see much of who they really are.

Calling them RW rejects is perfectly logical and correct, they were rejected from the Real World, and others were given the spots that they were trying to get. They are Real World rejects.
Not necessarily, some auditioned for Bad Girls club & some auditioned strictly for Fresh Meat.
That's interesting... I was under the impression that one could not try out for Fresh Meat, and only got the call if they were rejected at some point in the RW casting process.

Also, I've definitely never tried out for RW or RR, and I think many other people here are in the same boat.
Regarding spoilers. The cast had Myspaces before and computers. Why is Facebook any different??
On The Inferno 1, you can see the girls on MySpace in one episode and with cell phones. Why is it different now?
I think you could audition directly for FM2. I'm not completely sure, though.
I'm not really sure either. I remember Brandon saying how he was suppose to be on The Real World: Cancun and didn't make it and got a call later on about being on Fresh Meat 2, so I was under the impression that all FM were leftovers from Real World casting.
There are some FM2 people that in my opinion shouldn't have been cast for a reality show in the first place. Sydney, Sandy, Mandi, Theresa, Jeff, and even Luke don't really add to the stories. Laurel, Cara Maria, Brandon, Pete, and Noor would have been good Road Rulers, but I can't see them on The Real World. I don't know where I would have put Vinny. He doesn't seem right for either show but is definitely entertaining in an idiotic way.... I guess I can say the same for Luke to some degree.
