I don't know where I'm supposed to post this since all the spoiler threads for the new challenge seem to closed, but I just looked at the cast list and almost ****** my pants. I'm sure everyone knows why. Ok, I'm done. :D.
I don't know why, but I will guess you have an undying love for JEK or an undying hate for them?

Ahh, you must be a newer member ;).
I wonder who's gonna be the house villain. There's quite a few this season.
Wes, he is usually the house villian whenever JEK are in the same challenge.
Adam Royer, he is pretty much a psycho

Wes never seems like a villain to me so much as a whiny brat.
Does anyone else think The Island could've been a really great challenge if it had a much better cast? Maybe some more missions too?
The concept of being "stranded" on an island is not bad.

It would have been better if they didn't try to fit 35 minutes of Johnny and Evelyn arguing with each other into every episode.
Besides that it was obvious that they were going for a Survivor-like show, although when you don't do it with middle-aged people but do it with 25 year olds with an endless supply of booze, it's not gonna make as much sense.

I've always that was such an odd challenege. It had some great drama and shocking hook-ups, but most people remember as being one of the worst challenges. Plus, the last time we had seen Ev she was getting told off by Coral and Katie for being fake, but this challenege turned her into the good guy only to make her the bad guy again in the finale.

I just think it had a lot of people there who didn't really matter, (i.e Ryan, Dave, Colie, Tyrie, Ashli, Dunbar, Tonya, Cohutta, KellyAnne, Jenn, Paula) therefore they recycled the only drama that was somewhat interesting.
Just had a quick question, I tried searching for it but couldn't find it. But does anyone know why kenny ended up not doing this challenge? Also who did derrick replace? I know the season is over, but I'm still curious. Thanks!

Derrick replaced Bronne from RW Cancun I believe. I still don't know why Kenny stepped down though.

I think he said on the podcast that he would've lost his job had he gone. With the rest of the cast on Cutthroat being what it was he probably would've lasted the full time which I guess was too long for his employers.
This is correct.
Has he enlisted yet? I ask as it seems like it was not that long ago he made a tweet about Marines v. Army which would imply he had not.
They used to recycle music all the time.
When you see the cast doing the missions, getting ready, fight..etc. They used to use great music (not necessarily copyrighted material, but their own music).
I think it went up until "The Duel 1". After that the entire vibe, editing, and music changed in a bad way. Anybody else agree?
I've seen all of the older challenges recently and I hear the same music throughout the different challenges but it fits perfectly. Now the music is SO DULL and repetitive.
Yes, they always recycle music from the Challenges and the shows. I know Basement Jaxx's songs "Romeo" and "Where's Your head At" and the album "Midnight Vultures" by Beck have been in many episodes of different seasons of The Real World, Road Rules and The Challenges.
I think BMP may have some music company affiliation and they use their talent. Same is with Real World. Instead of using mainstream artists that people will recognize, they use thes off the wall bands which is a mistake. If people associate the show with the songs they hear on the radio, then they will think of the show when they hear the songs and it will become part of their life experience the way Coke advertises at every sporting event so you associate it with your good times.

They do it because they're cheap. They don't want to shell out the big bucks for mainstream names because it costs them more money. So they go to bands that no one has ever heard of that won't charge as much for the rights.

Good business model for them.
I for 1 like the music they play. :music:

Yeah I understand that part of the equation, but it is a mistake. Say for instance, one really likes Evan and they do a cheesy montage with a top 40 song of Evan competing. Every time they hear that song they will associate it with something they liked (Evan whether consciously or unconsciously) and it would build brand loyalty for the series for much longer than using some local nowhere band who won't get much if any airplay.

I think the only time (the only time I remember as of recently) BMP played a mainstream song was on Gauntlet III. The song was Beyonce's Freakum Dress.
Watching back the older seasons (Chicago and before) almost every song played was by a British artist. I guess they weren't big over in the states.
May also have been because that was the era when MTV seemed to resist rap music on its programs IMO and rap was the 90's.
I remember on Gauntlet 1, during the final challenge, "Pass That Dutch" by Missy Elliott was played. On Inferno 1, "Stand Up" by Ludacris and "I'm Really Hot" by Missy Elliott are a few mainstream songs I remember off the top of my head. I agree with SeanDaniel, because anytime I hear one of those songs I automatically think of the challenge associated with that song.
