Here's hoping the tease of CT vs Johnny next week helps that episode but man this sucks.
Here's hoping the tease of CT vs Johnny next week helps that episode but man this sucks.
It really does. I don't want to see the Challenges go. Then we'll be stuck with some **** Jersey Shore.
Real World Road Rules Challenge Episode 8 - 1.053 million viewers - 0.8/1 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49 - 1.0/3 W18-34 I'm going to write a children's book called "Taking a completely unnecessary week off for Thanksgiving and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Ratings that it causes".
I had a feeling it was going to happen, (at lease it didn't drop below a million like that episode of Fresh Meat 2), skipping a week for Thanksgiving and leaking the episode a week early is a recipe for disaster. This is the first time I'll admit it but this was the first episode of Cutthroat that I found kind of dry and boring. It was a difficult challenge that was aired for like 7 mins, Bananas noticing Tyler's eating patterns. Brad v Tori, and a TBC. That didn't build up my suspense for the next episode but since I'm fan I live with suspense. Hopefully people finally released that C.T. (and Tina) are there and decide to tune in next week.
It annoys me so much that they don't re-run episodes.
Whoever works at MTV is not very smart. They don't let people watch episodes - I think - 5 and 6. What if someone wants to catch up? Besides that, ratings go down, but do they take into consideration that lots of people watch these shows online? I hope they will continue with these challenges, even though the production of these shows must be super-expensive.

I personally watched the episode online, because a NBA game was on TV at the same time. The fact that the episode was TBC was ridiculous because it was not even that entertaining in the first place.

People will less and less watch tv shows on TV but in other ways. This is not a problem only MTV will have. Anyways, I hope they will continue with the challenges. They could cut the costs by providing less alcohol and let them reside in hostels :D.
Or just shoot the show in the states. Mexico even.

They would be better off just letting people download with the same commercials as the broadcast. If people could download for free from MTV they would be less likely to go to pirate sites and the network could measure their downloads and add that into their ratings formula for advertisers. The more readily people could download, the less likely they would be to keep the content long as their computers would fill up. They would delete downloads and go back and redownload when they wanted to see it again and by then there could be a different set of commercials. Plus, downloads with ads in would mean that people will see the ads more often and foster brand loyalty to the network shows, or so the argument would go. A lot of people pay $150+ a month for internet and cable and will never otherwise pay for TV shows they are already subsidizing with their cable bills and the internet is so bogged down with advertising eating up bandwidth that online viewing is just too frustrating.
They should just make a deal with Hulu.
To be honest, I'm from Europe, I watch the episodes at Mtv.com and I have never experienced any buffering problems.:)
Usually I don't either but sometimes it takes a while for the video to load.
I seldom don't have buffering problems and have pretty decent connection speeds most of the time. May be the times I try to watch are high traffic times. I tried to go to the MTV Canada site but it won't let me watch the videos unless I am in Canada for whatever reason.
There are some buffering problems, it's true, to watch a full episode sometimes I've had to refresh the page or try again later, I rarely can watch it the first time I go to mtv.com.
I just watched episode 9 on Mtv.com and as always, I did not experience any buffering problems. Lucky me:)
I had a few, mainly because of the connection. Maybe it's because I saw it on a laptop, I don't know..
I had a few, mainly because of the connection. Maybe it's because I saw it on a laptop, I don't know..
I watched last week's episode on a laptop and had no issues. It is probably the connection and probably doesn't help that you are out of the country which might create some additional problems.
Yeah, it's probably that.
Real World / Road Rules Challenge - 1.239 million viewers - 0.9/2 HH - 0.7/2 A18-49 - 1.3/4 W18-34
At least it went up.
Real World / Road Rules Challenge - 1.239 million viewers - 0.9/2 HH - 0.7/2 A18-49 - 1.3/4 W18-34
Pretty on par with the rest of the season. Meh.
I've put together all the ratings leading up to the finale: Episode 1: 1.7 million viewers/ .9 rating Episode 2: 1.2 million viewers/ .7 rating Episode 3: 1.2 million viewers/ .7 rating Episode 4: 1.4 million viewers/ .9 rating Episode 5: 1.3 million viewers/ .8 rating Episode 6: 1.4 million viewers/ .8 rating Episode 7: 1.4 million viewers/ .8 rating Episode 8: 1.0 million viewers/ .6 rating Episode 9: 1.2 million viewers/ .7 rating So 3 episodes with a .8 rating, 3 with a .7 rating, 2 with a .9 and 1 with a .6. Eek. Challenge days may be numbered.

Ep.1 - 0.9/3 A18-49 Ep.2 - 0.7/2 A18-49 Ep.3 - 0.7/2 A18-49 Ep.4 - 0.9/3 A18-49 Ep.5 - 0.8/2 A18-49 Ep.6 - 0.8/2 A18-49 Ep.7 - 0.8/2 A18-49 Ep.8 - 0.6/2 A18-49 Ep.9 - 0.7/2 A18-49 I hoped this episode would bounce back better from the Thanksgiving break. Hopefully the finale will do well.
It probably should be noted that 18-49 is not the prime demographic for this series.
Its the best we have to go on, and a pretty accurate judge of the 18-34 count. As I've said before, the commercial mix leads me to believe that most of the commercials on The Challenge are sold on 18-34 or 18-49, and no matter how much MTV tries to spin it, no more than 15-20% are sold on 12-24 or 18-24. Ads this week sold based on under 24s were a Neutrogena ad, Twilight on Blu-Ray, The US Army, and maybe - maybe - ads for the Flip and Dance Central - everything else made more sense to buy for under 34 or under 49. This has to be one of MTVs oldest skewing shows (The median viewer might even be as old as 23-24!) Stick a fork in it, time to move on.
Stick a fork in it, time to move on.
Soon, but not just yet... Certainly it's too late for this season with CT and Tina only bringing in: - 1.239 million viewers - 0.9/2 HH - 0.7/2 A18-49 - 1.3/4 W18-34 There is still one more challenge under contract. The series needs to either find its roots or appeal to a dramatically larger audience to score an average 1.8 rating, in my view. There was a time when twenty-somethings watched a RW/RR challenge as a guilty pleasure, but those days have apparently past along with most of the arguably great competitors.
