Big difference between the FM1 and FM2 Exiles.. FM1 was usually flat rocky or beach terrain... FM2 was most of the time and especially the final uphill, add the higher altitude causing your breathing to get tougher and I don't blame Carley at all for almost passing out. You can't really compare the Wes/Casy, Landon/Carley exiles or finals cause they where so very different.

Thank you...I definitely would not put my faith in Casey to have been able to carry any weight at all, at any point. At least Carley carried some at some point. Plus, Landon and Carley at least won two challenges, and then the final. Wes and Casey never won any.
Just to change up the subject, what do you guys think was the most unfair challenge?
I would say the Ruins. The Champions obviously didn't have any rookies on their team and they had very few liabilities on the team. I honestly don't see any possible scenario where the Challengers would have had a chance to win.
If they're going to do a Champions vs Challengers challenge any time in the near future they should at least make sure the Challengers have CT on the team.
As unfair as the Ruins were, Battle of the Sexes 2 has to be the most lopsided challenge out there, more than the Ruins or Extreme Challenge. The women had no chance against the men, and the ability to vote off instead of fight for your place allowed for some of the strongest women competitors to be usurped as well (Rachel, Veronica, Ruthie)
The great thing about that challenge was that in a sense the women and men were more or less competing with themselves and not against the other team. Until the final that is where they were crushed by the men.
Most unfair?
Im gonna have to say its between Gauntlet 3 and The Ruins (Shauvon and Casey on the same team?! WTH?)
Honorable Mentions to BatofSexes2 and Fresh Meat 1 (The Austin kids didnt stand a chance)
I was going to go with the Gauntlet 3 but at least the Rookies had MJ, Derek (RR:VR), and Frank. They also had the two strongest girls (Tori, Jillian).

Two strongest? Even if the Vets had Ev?
I don't understand why Jillian is always marked as a "top female competitor"... yeah she's a good competitor and she's good as running but what else has she done?
-Gauntlet 2 she was mediocre and lost to Kina, who I think is a good competitor so I'll excuse her here.
-Gauntlet 3 she beat Brooke, almost lost to Angel, and beat Janelle, who I'll give her credit for.
-FM2 she had one of the top males as a partner, almost lost to Danny and Sandy, and did manage to beat Darrell but I'd put the blame on Cara Maria for that one. Then they beat Jenn and Noor in the final who were competiting on less than 24 hours rest from their Exile.
Like I said, Jillian can run and has good stamina, but why is she looked at as a great competitor? Personally, from the Gauntlet 3, I'd put Coral and maybe even Beth above her simply because of their size, and I'd say Jillian's about as good as Diem and maybe even Johanna.

I completely agree with this post. Jillian's overrated because of her 3 Gauntlet wins, but if you look at who she beat, it's not that impressive. Especially, I noticed, on Fresh Meat 2, she wasn't TERRIBLE, but she was just average on the missions. And she whined a lot about the missions too.
Jillian was thoroughly unimpressive on FM2. I thought she was going to be one of the top girls there, but obviously my memories of Gauntlet 3 clouded my judgment. It's easy to forget that while she won a lot of gauntlets, they weren't exactly against stiff competition. Several times while I watched FM2, I found myself questioning her heart and competitive drive.

I felt the same way...I really expected her to be up there, but she just didn't seem to care that much. I think she wrote somewhere (maybe in a blog?) that her acting like that is partially what got them to the end, sort of like how Wes and Casey got to the finals.
I would say the Gauntlet 3 and The Ruins were the most unfair and for the same reason. Practically every single mission favored the team with more people. It was at times that even if the Rookies got all their people to finish or whatever, they'd still lose cause the Vets had like 5 more people. They should have forced the teams with greater people to sit certain people out, and they give them immunity from the Gauntlet so a team would either a) sit out weak people, and be forced to eliminate a strong person if they lose or b) sit out stronger people, leaving them the ability to send weak people to the gauntlet if they lose.

Or even letting the team with fewer people have them go multiple times, although that would be a little unfair because they would be tired from going twice. Or best, at least have some individual missions where times are averaged, or even make it so the team with the least people who DQ in the fastest time wins.
Hello guys im new to vevmo. Ive read some stuff one here and noticed that a lot of people debate about the entertainment factor of the old shows vs the new ones. Well I was bored over the weekend and ended up watching the whole season of the inferno 1 and in my opinion the challenges have gone downhill. But I dont think the cast is to blame, I think its the way they film the challenges now and portray the drama that really killing the show. I not sure how to word this but in previous challenges you felt sort of attached to the show and the cast memebers and felt as though all the story lines and drama was real and not overly edited or "scripted". I felt as though when I watched the old challenges and the cast interaction in the house it was sort of like watching big brother live feeds. Also the team challenges and elimination rounds were a lot more fun; in newer challenges theres to much emphasis on athleticism and although the old challenges had that they still had fun with it (CT vs Shane the cookie eating elimination, Katie vs Julie on the treadmill, or the team bungee challenge where Leah had a panic attack)

Mostly true, with the exception of the mission where they had to be blindfolded and go through that obstacle course...that one was blatantly set up for the Rookies team to win, since I believe it was a timed mission. The Rookies had 4 less people and it made it **** near impossible for the Veterans to win. The Rookies team had been so pathetic up until that point and I think production made it a timed mission on purpose so that the Rookies would win one.

That one, and also the one where they were buried and had to answer questions to get them out--and they STILL lost! But those aren't fair challenges either, purposely favoring one team.

I do think that was one of the most unfair challenges, but not because of the challenge structure, but because they could have found stronger challengers and they didn't need to put JEK and Wes and Derrick and Darell on a team (although Wes went down by Cohutta which was fun to watch). They could have made the teams more evenly matched.
I also thought any challenges where you vote people off (ex. The Island etc) was unfair. I love the idea of people fighting their way off. i mean, it's more fun watching Katie win eliminations and come back to her shocked team than voting the best players off. It's also more fair I think that challengers actually can do something to determine if they stay of not.
I also think Jillian is quite a decent female player. I won't put her in the top 3, but she is a good player. Even though She had a good guy in FM2, she still had to be pretty strong to win, I didn't really see her lagging in exiles. Plus, it's not like Cara Maria quit or did THAT bad to say it's her fault they(Pete and Jill) won. They couldn't do puzzles and Jill and Pete could. But they still beat Darell which is pretty impressive.
I would say Jillian is a tough competitor. I would, by no means, undermine her strength. Now in FM2, she didn't wanna do some of the challenges, (only 1 or 2), but I think it's mostly because she already knew her fate and thought it better to save her energy for the exile (which worked in her favour because of how many she won). I don't think it's necessarily the best strategy, but hey, if my fate was inevitable, I may have done the same.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there. If Pete hadn't taken her bag in the Exile against Danny and Sandy, they would have lost. And look at Carley and Landon--I wouldn't say Carley is the worst competitor ever, but I'm pretty sure Landon did just about all the work in that final (and almost all in the last Exile). All she had to do was keep up.

:O Maybe you have a point. I didn't remember Pete taking her bag in an exile.

I agree. Sandy performed much better in the exile than Jillian did. Jillian was hunched over, huffing and puffing the entire time and Sandy was even leading Danny for most of the exile. She also solved the puzzles and in much better time than Pete and Jillian. But you're right, after Pete took Jill's bag, she was able to sprint and make up a lot of time. Had Danny taken Sandy's bag for her instead of making her run with it the last stretch, they probably would've won.
What I loved most about this exile was when the two teams passed each other, Jillian pushed Sandy and Sandy almost turned after her yelling "What the **** *****, I'll kick you ***!" hahah.

LOL gotta agree with you there. Although I thought it was just that Jillian didn't move aside at all for Sandy, rather than actually pushing her.
Actually for all how I wish the challenges were back to how they used to be, there is one part of the show im happy to say byebye to and thats the horrible in-show advertising XD

This one was horrible and was probably the worst product placement offender of the lot. :wacko2: It sounds like Mosely broke down and had a speech malfuncion (I thought he was a robot on BotS2)
Would put a few of the board arguments to rest, but more or less I meant it was one of the few product placements that I liked. Same with the paintball challenge they had as well on the Inferno.
Yeah the paintball mission was awesome. They should get another big sponsor like Chilis who ponied up the cash it might help relieve some of the cash thrown into production.
