I think they're on fine terms?
I think I saw on Tyler's twitter a week or so ago that he was going to hang out with Johnny somewhere (not at the reunion or with other cast members) so I think they're still friends.
It's not about the reunion at all, it's about her personal feelings toward Cara Maria. She mentions she wishes she had gone to the reunion...kind of hard to get an invite when you're 4th out. She can save it for the next challenge if she gets an invite.
With the next challenge not starting for awhile, I feel sad that this could give them time to patch things up, lol. This challenge in itself has created a lot of rivalries that I wish to see continue... Laurel vs Abram Cara Maria vs Ayiiia Ty vs Emily, Johnny, Derrick, Brandon Paula vs Dunbar Camilla vs Tori, Brad, Paula Eric vs Laurel Plus, if CM and Abram are on another challenge together and not still dating, that might cause friction. Perhaps throw Coral into the mix? I mean I doubt she would care but it would be great for them to edit it as if she did, lol.
Laurel vs Abram Cara Maria vs Ayiiia Ty vs Emily, Johnny, Derrick, Brandon Paula vs Dunbar Camilla vs Tori, Brad, Paula Eric vs Laurel
There's a **** of a lot more than four people that don't like him on this challenge. You're looking at about 20, easy.
Ayiiiiiiiiiiiia is starting some ish with CM on twitter regarding the reunion.
I think she's bitter that CM made it to the end and got invited to the reunion. Things between them already passed. I'm still curious to know what happened to Abram that he couldn't finish the final. And as much as I don't like Laurel's personality, I gotta admit she is one of the strongest (if not the strongest) girl/competitor, even though her size does give her a lot of advantages.
Wait a minute- they ALL agreed to do another challenge? I don't find this hard to believe except for Brad and Tori. Tori seems like she thinks of herself as being so above the shows, but she's freaking good- so I don't get why she wouldn't want to do more. Brad on the other hand... I can see him not wanting to come back so I'm surprised if both of them agreed that they would do another one. I'm also guessing they wouldn't do one without each other.
No they didn't all agree. When asked, the people who didn't respond/looked extremely unenthusiastic were Abram, Cara Maria, Jenn, and Johnny. I think there was more but those stood out. Luke, Sarah, Derrick, and Emily were really enthusiastic about doing another one though!
Jenn I am not surprised as I remember someone said Jenn was in the process of getting a job and not doing more challenges or not as many. Abe, well if he needs something to plug may return but from his formspring and his interview here it doesnt seem he cares either way. Cara Maria, may have been soured from this Challenge experience. Johnny surprises me the most, but also he's won two Challenges and has done a lot so he could be tired.
Did Tyler actually beat CT outright in their Gulag or did he just happen to do better against him than Johnny did?
I believe he just did better than Johnny did.
Jenn I am not surprised as I remember someone said Jenn was in the process of getting a job and not doing more challenges or not as many. At least at the ruins he went against Dunbar, who's an average competitior, maybe above average at best, I'd like to see how Johnny would do in another Duel this time, because there's plenty of guys that would call him out, lol.

Most of the cast agreed. They said the house was the worst one ever, production was too strict and belittled them. They treated the cast horribly and talked to them in a rude manner. Johnny said it wasn't fun and it felt like prison. He said the older challenges he did were more fun because there was more freedom.
Laurel carried the grey team on her back in the final? Not a surprise to me. I don't like to much her, her personality, but she's a very strong competitor. Can't wait to see what happens in the final and how the Gulags with the heavy hitters are going to be.
I'm disappointed they didn't bring Camila on stage...they should have. She's become 1 of my favorite cast members, actually. She got a LOT of airtime, so I think she'll be back.
8 hours to complete the final and this was the winning team? :fear2: That's a lot of time. Can't wait to see the kind of final is going to be.
That's so odd that 2 of the Gray Team's strong players gave out on the final mission (Sara and Abe). In the Mid-Season Teaser, I see Abe on a stretcher, puking.

I had actually noticed that the past few challenges, they don't seem to go out as much, there are only 1 or 2 episodes where I really see them out and about. Did the filming of challenges used to last longer? because now, they talk about it being 3 weeks to a month, whereas before, I got the impression they lasted longer, anywhere from 2-3 months. If that is the case, then perhaps the new restrictions have to do with the shorter time for filming - people don't get as dramatic or tense in 3 weeks if they're allowed to go out and pretty much be on vacation, even if they are living with a bunch of crazy people. But in 2 months, that starts to wear on people, regardless of how good the conditions are.

I have always guessed 1 month, maybe a month and a half, tops. But like I said, I could be wrong.

But in 2 months, that starts to wear on people, regardless of how good the conditions are.
My theory is that the economy had a big impact on how they cut back on the production value of the shows. I know that around the time of The Duel, for instance, the exchange rate from Brazilian R$ to US$ was like 3:1, so everything on The Duel was MUCH more inexpensive than what it would be like to shoot in Brazil now, where the currency exchange rate is a lot worse. They're on a budget and when the economy goes to **** internationally, as it has (don't get me started on the Bush administration!), it's going to affect any shows that shoot overseas that are based on the American dollar. So, I'm guessing prices on renting and renovating the houses went up, then cost of food went up, lot less people were itching to sponsor them (there goes all the free swag!) and I know the fees for filming skyrocketed between 2006-2009. BMP and Mtv have to pay for everything from the right to film in the country to feeding the cast to taxes on everything to transportation, insurance for the cast and everything else. This all starts to add up, while budgets usually stay around the same. So, they've probably had less money to work with over the last few years. That would account for the major changes. As for the cast being treated like ****, that's not right. Part of crew means keeping the above the line, including cast, happy, even if it means eating crow sometimes. That's just not professional behavior. I seem to remember the older challenges taking longer, too. I thought they filmed for 4-6 weeks minimum and 6-8 weeks, if it ran long.
Jenn I am not surprised as I remember someone said Jenn was in the process of getting a job and not doing more challenges or not as many. I also remember seeing her on an after show with a big band-aid over her wrist. I'd like to see her win a challenge, then retire and have a healthy, long, successful life. I'd also like to see Cara Maria come back, kick some ***, duke it out with Ayiiia once and for all in an elimination round, beat her and come back as the New Jenn. It seems like a lot of the veterans are passing the torch on Cut Throat.
I could be wrong, but I don't think any challenge has ever taken 3 months to film. I have always guessed 1 month, maybe a month and a half, tops. But like I said, I could be wrong.
You are not wrong. Six weeks has long been the standard.
No they didn't all agree. When asked, the people who didn't respond/looked extremely unenthusiastic were Abram, Cara Maria, Jenn, and Johnny. But if she has a good job lined up for her then good for her. Hopefully the timing works out though and she does return. And considering Pete isn't very interested in doing another one, maybe that had soem influence on Jenn as well But I'm happy Emily and Derrick showed interest.
Jenn has said/acted in the past as if she did not want to do anymore challenges. Then we saw her back to back this season and Fresh Meat 2. I think she's a pretty big poser, and I doubt she will stop until she wins.
Some of the cast members say there not going to do any more challenges and they do, for example Katie and Brad. So theres hope for Jenn evenif shes not interested in doing another challenge. Are they filming another challenge now?.. I would want Dunbar and Paula to retire from the challenges, stay home.

Dunbar has his little **** career to keep him busy. I'd still like to see Katie come back, kick everyone's *** and Brad, he can stay home with the wife.

It was stated that it took the red team eight hours to complete the final. Is that the longest it took in challenge history?
Here's my recap of the reunion, it is LONG. I broke it up into sections. I sat in the back the 1st half, and sat in the way front in the 2nd half next to Maria (host)! So Abram came in dressed up as a Polar Bear from his book. He kept advertising his book during the reunion show in the beginning which ****** off production. It made Laurel storm off stage because she was annoyed by it and because the reunion was boring. Laurel and Paula were the drunkest. They made him take off the hat but Abram took off the whole costume because "it wouldn't make sense". Production took the book away from him so he wouldn't be able to show it during the show. Final Mission - Jenn and Emily (Blue) did VERY well in the beginning. They made it to the 1st checkpoint first and thought they had a great chance of winning because it was just them 2. However, each checkpoint got harder and harder and it became clear that they needed a team. The more people, the better unlike other final challenges. They knew early on that they would lose but they kept trying anyways. The cast was impressed with Jenn and Emily's performance in the final mission and thought they would've won if Johnny and Derrick had been there. Abram and Sarah (Gray) got sent away in the ambulance. Sarah gave it her all but physically she couldn't do it. The sawdust part was why Abram puked and couldn't move on. It was 95 degrees, they had to slide down in these black trashbag things which BURNED them while sliding down. I think they landed in sawdust? Abram began puking and turned completely white. He wanted to move on and didn't want to go on the ambulance because he wanted his team to win so badly. Laurel carried Abram on her back but then he had to go on the ambulance. Now it's just Laurel, Luke, and Cara Maria. Laurel remembered 50% of the puzzle, Cara Maria remembered 25% and Luke remembered none of it...Laurel was SO ****** at the reunion about that because they had to go all the way back so he could remember it. She believes this cost her the final. She wasn't angry at Sarah for not being able to take it but was mad at Abram because she believe it was a "cop out". Red team wins. The whole final was 13 miles and when the Red team finished they COLLAPSED at the finish line. BUT production thought their ending was "weak" so the red team was forced to do the ending part again. They had to do it about (I heard) 7 times until production got a good shot for the show. They were so ****** because they had to go through the spiral stairs yet again. The cast agreed that Tyler was the strongest competitor and did great on the final. - Brad and Tori, the married couple. Paula hated being on a team with a married couple. She said she didn't realize it until the end. Tori was supposed to leave the show due to her job. She told Paula that she would do everything she could to get her to the finals. At the last minute, Tori found out she could stay and she did. This broke the "deal" and Paula was ******. She knew she would always be below Tori. She cried on the show and felt she would never win. She didn't blame the others though, she blamed herself. She said after losing 7 challenges, she could only blame herself for the losses. Maria found it respectable that she didn't blame the others. Brad and Tori said they didn't have much communication about the game because everybody would hear. They didn't even know who voted for who some of the times after the votes were made. Brad was very paranoid that the team would flip and get him and Tori out of the show. They believe they didn't have "control" over the team. - Red team Vs. Brandon & Camila Brad and Tori said they felt bad that Brandon kept going in BUT they didn't know him as well as the others so they said it was easier to vote off somebody who they barely knew than one of their close friends. Johnny defended Brandon saying that he was one of the best guys on their team. Brad quickly went back and said he was the weakest guy, he cannot swim!!! He said "what if the final had swimming involved?" The team agreed that the whole Camila thing was edited differently. Tori explained Camila would get drunk all the time and yell at the red team and then go to the blue team and talk **** about the red team. She would go back and forth between teams causing drama. Jenn said yes she did that BUT the blue team didn't let it get to them. The blue team didn't let it affect them. The red team let it affect them which is why it became such a big deal. Camila saw this behind the audience. She was in the back with her friends. She didn't go on stage unfortunately. - Paula Vs. Dunbar Dunbar said he had her back until she voted for him instead of voting for Tyler. He wrote her a letter saying that had her back. Paula was drunk and kept saying "so did you get the money yet?" Talking about him being on playboy. She screamed out that he did ***** and that he was on playboy tv multiple times. Maria said "does this have anything to do with the show?" Paul was like...no.... Paula felt betrayed yet again by Dunbar and cried. Johnny yelled at her calling her a basket case and told her the reason she can't win a challenge is because she's not mentally there. - Laurel Vs. Big Easy They showed the clip of the argument. It was EXTREMELY uncomfortable to watch the clip with the cast right in front of me (I sat in the front then, like 2 feet away from Jenn). The cast looked just as uncomfortable. Laurel said she's over it. She's moved on because she's apologized and this was in the past. Big Easy comes on stage as a "surprise". Everybody hugs him but Laurel. Big Easy was ****** that she did her apology on MTV.com and that he never heard from her. This was the 1st time they communicated SINCE it happened in Prague. Laurel claims she tried to get his number but never got it from Katie. Big Easy calls her out saying Katie told me she gave Laurel his number. "Katie and I are from the same hometown and she's my best friend and she said she gave you my number". Laurel kept saying she didn't get it. Maria jumped in and said "well, i'm sure the rest of the cast has his number, why didn't you ask them?" Can't remember if she responded but she said that Big Easy didn't want to hear her. She said she apologized to him on twitter. He thought that was a lame excuse because all she did was tag him on twitter and put something very short. Big Easy was mad that she got her say on MTV.com and he didn't. Tyler got up and yelled that the gay guys who were harassed didn't get to go on MTV.com also and say anything. Tyler started talking about how the gay guys on the show were called the "f" word multiple times yet it didn't make air and was very upset about it. Big Easy agreed but said we're not talking about that now we're talking about this. Tyler says Laurel apologized and he should accept it and get over it. He said he got over Ty and Vinny constantly saying the "f" word to him, Derrik and I think JD. Big Easy was mad that Laurel made a half-*** apology on MTV and "confronted" him on the stairs off-camera. She said she passed him on the stairs and he wouldn't even look at her and walked by her. Laurel explains that the apology on MTV.com was not to Big Easy, that it was for America. It was for the viewers, family, friends..etc. that it was not okay to say things like that. She said she wanted her apology to Big Easy to be one on one. She didn't want to apologize on stage, forced because it wasn't right to do it that way. Big Easy asks, if the hottub scene didn't make air, would you still have gone on MTV and apologize? She said she would have but Big Easy believes it's ****. He said she only did it because she realized it was going to air and she got scared of her reputation. They went on for so long and the cast got very frustrated. Abram got ****** off and stormed off stage. He said he couldn't take this and that it was ridiculous. "I'm only here because I'm getting paid to be here! I do not want to be associated with this." He exclaims the show has gone downhill to a point where it has become like "Jersey Shore". He hates what it has become and left. After like 5 minutes he came back on stage. I'll get back to "what the show has become" later, because he talked about it a lot during the Big Easy Vs. Laurel segment. Big Easy and Laurel talk quietly (down time, cameras are off) and the rest of the cast talk. Maria wanted to continue the show but didn't want to interrupt the talk between the 2 but was forced to continue. Big Easy said they're working things out and it's getting better. We all applauded, lol. - CT and Tina They all agreed bringing them back was ****. Johnny miserably lost to CT in about 10 seconds. It was the backpack gulag and they showed clips of CT and Tina on the tv screen. Johnny said it was total **** on production to get them on when the cast has been working hard for 5 long weeks. They were mentally and physically exhausted and weak. Then CT comes in at his best going against Johnny at his weakest. Johnny wanted to go against somebody from the cast who went through what he went through, not a person outside the show living comfortably and strong. Tyler says he ate a ton of pizza and ice cream which helped him. Tyler went after Johnny and Johnny says he got an advantage of doing that but Tyler disagrees and says he did not have time to prepare because it lasted like 10 seconds and that CT was not tired out at all. CT vs. Tyler lasted 40 minutes!!! Tyler was ****** that the show only airs about a minute of it. He wanted it to air more to prove that a gay guy can compete well and against CT. Neither of them won and the teams were yelling at Tyler to quit but he wouldn't. CT was struggling as well because Tyler's strong as ****! The cast was impressed by Tyler's performance. Abram says bringing Tina back was a joke. He said "It was like CT (gasp) then Tina....what the? Was Evelyn not available or something." Tori KILLED Tina in the gulag and that it was pretty embarrassing. They didn't talk about Tina vs. Theresa though I don't think. Tyler went on about how the gay guys and black guys get sent home so early. Johnny says it has nothing to with race or sexuality. Tyler said he wanted to show America that a gay guy can do well and win. Tyler constantly talked about how he's a personal trainer and the workouts he does. It was annoying because he brought it up on segments that were about other people. Tyler vs. Derrick. Tyler beats Derrick after going against CT. They wanted Tyler to quit early with CT because he had to go against Derrick RIGHT after. - Abram & Cara Maria They live apart but are trying to see each other a lot more because they are in love. Cara Maria says she didn't get close to Abram for protection. She said at the airport she saw the cast all mingling and she saw Abram by himself drawing. She was intrigued so she went up to him and talked. She grew interest before they even got in the house and formed teams. The cast all knew BEFORE the teams were formed that they were the perfect but weird match. - The final MONEY. Gray team each got $20,000, winning the most missions. Blue team got $20,000 each (Jenn and Emily). Red Team each got $40,000 after winning the final. - What the experience was really like, the cast speaks out and on older challenges! The cast ALL agreed that this house was the worst house EVER. They felt like they were in prison, the windows were tinted, I heard and barred up. When you see them going out and having "fun" they were not. They were forced to go out by production and at the bar they were forced to stay in the corner in specific areas and could not leave and interact. There was no communication to the outside world. Johnny has a girlfriend and couldn't call her or anything! They couldn't even call home! In order to send an e-mail the cast would have to write it out on paper. Production would read the letter then re-write how they want it to then send it. Production would make them clean their rooms or they wouldn't give them food or send the e-mails. The cast thought it was ridiculous. Production had a soccerball and taped to it was "clean your rooms and you can have this ball". Because the cast was so bored, they cleaned it just to get a **** ball! If they didn't clean, production may not even give them groceries. They had to make the food themselves and when you see the winning team celebrating. The losing team gets the same exact food!!! But like an hour later. The only reason why the cast is happy is because they don't have to go through deliberation, not because the food is good. Paula said "I had 0 fun on this challenge". She said it was the worst challenge she'd done because of the rules of production. Production treated the cast horribly and would speak down to them. They were very rude and it got to the cast. Derrick says they were spoiled in the older challenges and it felt like a vacation but now it's complete ****. They were on lockdown and Abram said he went to military reform camp LESS stricter than this challenge. The cast went on to talk about the joys of older challenges (this was my favorite part). Brad and Abram talked about the Inferno 2 and remembering sitting on the roof watching Tonya throw Beth's clothes in the pool. Abram said he would smoke a cigar and sit on the roof seeing the girls (Veronica, Rachel and Tina) get dolled up, getting the cameras and starting fights with Beth and Tonya because they were bored. Abram said he stole a car in Mexico on one of the old school challenges. He said the people now make the show bad because they fight over nothing. He went on about how in the older challenges he had MANY conversations and heard great stories from the cast. He learned from them and had great experiences with them. The cast back then were intelligent and were far more interesting now. Now she said it went WAY downhill with casting and the people just want to make out and fight. Johnny and Jenn complained a lot about how this challenge sucked. Johnny said he missed the old challenges he did because they were fun. Maria was shocked to hear all of this especially when the "unseen" footage was shown. The cast said that that was the only fun they had in the "unseen" footage. Like 10 seconds of fun and a month of living in prison/****. The complaining segment was LONG. Abram wont let his sisters watch the show because of what it has become. Johnny said they used to go out all the time in South Africa (inferno 3). Emily said she didn't have anything to compare it to so she enjoyed her experience. The old school cast said to her that she missed out on the fun they had on the older challenges. Gauntlet 2, Alton beat Adam so fast on the climbing gauntlet that they had to re-shoot it!! Alton was forced to do it again because it happened too fast. Inferno 3 - Paula and Johnny said that on the door mission, they knocked over the door too quickly so production forced them to do the mission all over again. Inferno 3 - Johnny said on the trampoline mission an ambulance randomly showed up right before which they were confused about. Turns out, one of the testers broke her femur on that mission and had to go to the hospital. The cast was not informed till AFTER. Abram said he couldn't sleep at all because in the house (cutthroat) the lights would stay on. The noise of the lights were VERY loud so it was difficult for them to sleep which they hated. - Random things they said - Emily enjoyed stargazing in the backyard where the cameras weren't there. - Cast all agreed Ty was crazy and acted up for the cameras. - The dungeon was LEGIT. Production had to pump water out of it. It was not a set. There were rats running around and bats flying. - Jenn liked being on a team with Johnny. Hated him before but being with him is different then being on a different team. - People peed in the hot tub a lot. Production had to drain it twice. - Maria asked why the girls fought more than the guys? Emily jokingly said "because the girls were all on their period at the same time". I laughed out loud which made Emily laugh even harder because I was the only one who heard her say that.
Awesome recap, jhl182!
Wow jhl182, what a great and LONG recap. I really enjoyed it and thanks :D
