I am sure this was mentioned... But for Battle of the Seasons, Mike and Lori were originally supposed to represent B2NY, Not Coral. Because Lori didn't make it, she was brought back for BOTS. Also because of the Hurricane in Battle of the Seasons most of the missions were scrapped, and they improved last minute (Inner Tube Tango) was not an original mission idea.
This one might sound a little farfetched:
On two different challenges everyone's favorite alumni Coral predicted two future challenges... On The Inferno she said "Julie challenged me to a Duel in the yard", and on BOTS2 she stated in a confessional that "these *****s are getting Cutthroat.
Does Coral have a little too much knowledge of what's going on in the inside, or does BMP just use general words for their titles?
3. Also on the Gauntlet, the first mission is titled "The Inferno" which maybe also lead us to the installments of the Inferno series.
4. Also Montana on the Gauntlet 2, after Cameran quitting in the elimination.. she said "After this, the gauntlets will be more Cutthroat".
C'mon now, you know BMP goes back through old episodes and listens for interesting and quirky things people say for future reference
I am pretty sure they do, titles should come within previous seasons.
They probably re-watch previous seasons and take many notes down for future ideas. One of them being "future title names".
With his apperance on Cutthroat Derrick remains the only cast member to appear on at least one of: Battle named Challenges (battle of the sexes 2), Gauntlet (Gauntlet 2), Infernos (Inferno 2 and 3) Fresh Meat (Fresh Meat), Duel (The Duel), Island (Island), Ruins (The Ruins), and now Cut Throat. The closests to him is Katie, who only missed out on the Island.
Some interesting facts about the Duel series:
1. Brad was placed second on both Duels.
2. In the Duel & Duel 2, two female rookies (Svetlana & Brittini) got second place.
3. Aneesa was 3rd place in both duels.
4. Aneesa also went into the first elimination round in both duels and won them both.
5. Paula and Aneesa have faced each other in both duels, with Aneesa being the winner.
6. Robin won the first mission for both seasons of the Duel.
7. Diem was placed fourth in both seasons of the Duel.
8. Tina and CT who are the Heavy Hitters(late entries) for Cutthroat, who were both disqualified from the Duel and Duel 2 for hitting another castmate.
9. The girl winners of the Duel series: Jodi and Rachel haven't appeared on another challenge season since they've won.
10. Nehemiah is eliminated 4th in both duel seasons.
11. Homosexuals: Ryan and Tyler went into the Duel first for their season winning it, then going in to the second one losing it.
12. One of the missions on the Duel is called "Pole Dance" which is the name of an elimination on the Duel 2, which is the similiar title named" Duel Pole Dancing".
13. Eric is eliminated 6th on both duels.
You should also add, that Brad eliminated the most feared competitors (Ct on Duel 1, Landon on Duel 2) on both Duels, during the final Duel of each challenge.
On Extreme Challenge there was an episode which featured the teams to dress up as famous couples in a fetish club. This episode has never been aired.
Also, this was the first and only time that the castmembers got to the mission, but couldn't do it because it proved to be too dangerous and the producers nixed it at the last minute. The mission was a "human catapult" where there was no safety harness, just protective gear and a net to fall into. A tester broke their leg and another broke an arm. LT really wanted to be the first to go.
The Gauntlet 2 was the first challenge to have an official trailer which was titled "Rough Season Ahead." I am pretty sure all the challenges before that only had commercials.
Something I found interesting that maybe no one else will :
Brandon and Katelynn got DQ'ed in their exile in Fresh Meat 2 against CJ and Sydney for Brandon drinking beforehand, but on the Gauntlet 2's S@#t They Should've Shown they showed Cara taking shots of vodka to calm her nerves before her Gauntlet against Kina and she never got DQ'ed, TJ even laughed about it.

Lol I'm so glad someone remembered that too. I thought the same exact thing right when they got dq'ed. I think they knew that Katelynn wasn't going to be able to finish the exile so they just found a reason for CJ and Sydney to not to be able to see the exile the way they wanted. Also the only thing I can see is that since they are going to be going up hills and stuff and running in the woods, maybe they didn't want him to stumble, fall over and get hurt. I thought it was stupid still but I can kinda see their reasoning. The only thing though is that he had like one beer so I cant see that being a problem lol.
Although I personally think that what happened to Brandon and Katelyn was nonsense. The way it was worded by TJ Lavin could all come down to semantics. He called an exile an athletic competition (or was it event?) where as there are grounds to refer to the Name that Coconut Gauntlet being described as something else.

Maybe they felt Brandon was a lightweight:wink:
I guess I could see why they would have different regulations with Exiles and Gauntlets, but like you said, I feel like they just wanted a reason to cause drama for CJ and Sydney. I mean if somebody showed up completely sloshed and stumbling around, I'd understand them not letting them compete, but Brandon had one beer, and went to the Exile. It didn't even seem like he knew there was a rule, which makes me wonder if they ever said anything about the regulations to the cast.

14. The 5th mission on the Duel I is called "Push Over" which is an elimination on the Duel 2.
15. Brad enters the elimination round before the Duel finales in both seasons. (He takes out 2 of the best competitors in challenge history: C.T and Landon)

Didn't TJ say that the rules state no one can drink before a mission or elimination round?
I don't think they take that rule too seriously. I, too, think they wanted a reason to eliminate Brandon and Katelynn for drama reasons and because Katelynn couldn't walk, let alone finish the exile.
Also, we know about the double standards. Jenn wasn't kicked off for shoving/pushing Mandy, but Steven was eliminated in a heartbeat when he slapped Shane.
On episode 4 of the Ruins, after Katie flips out on Sarah, it shows Evan and Kenny with Sarah on the balcony trying to comfort her after what happened. There are other people out there as well, one of them being Adam, who was eliminated in episode 3. So it shows that Sarah and Katie's little fight was purposely put in episode 4, to lead up to their elimination. It could've been put in episode 3, where it belonged obviously, chronologically because Adam is still there.
I also think its funny how in Fresh Meat II, they DQ'd Katelynn and Brandon, not for Katelynn being severely injured, but for Brandon drinking a beer. But on Fresh Meat, they DQ'd Coral and Evan for being severely injured.

I agree with you about the double standards. I would initially say that the timespan between the two challenges caused the producers to settle down when it comes to being physical, but only a few years back on Sydney Trisha was kicked off for pushing Parisa alot softer than what Jenn did to Mandi.
And on the RW, Jemmye has punched/smacked Knight, in the face, and she didn't get kicked off.

Most of the time it depends on the situation. Parisa choice to send Trisha home. Remember on the Duel 2 **** they should have shown, it was revealed that CT shoved Issac across the room but Issac choice not to send him home. So I'm guessing Knight and Mandi choice not to send home their attackers...
At the Fresh Meat 2 reunion Mandi did say that she was taken to another room after the incident while production reviewed the tapes and they asked her if she wanted Jenn to leave and obviously she said no. It was actually funny when she was explaining it because she was like "Well, If I told them to send her home, she probably would've hit me since it didn't matter anymore. I was probably safer with her staying." or something like that.

He didn't say "before a mission or elimination round" he said something along the lines of "athletic competition/event." That's where I think the lines get blurred on the semantics of the two (Exile and Name that Coconut) with one being considered an athletic competition and the other being considered a trivia challenge or something. I can't pretend to have any insider knowledge, I just remember the wording TJ used when disqualifying Brandon/Katelyn was peculiar and was probably used to cover their (production's) bases.
Also completely off topic, but I a have a feeling that at some point in the Real World and The Challenge they amended the physical altercation rules from a strict no touching policy to something that had more to do with intent.
Situations like Isaac/CT, Jenn/Mandy come to mind where the 'victim' had the opportunity to choose whether to send their aggressor home, and chose not to as opposed to something like Shane and Steven where Shane clearly didn't want Steven to leave but it was out of his control. Even on one of the Inferno 3 confessionals from Davis, the way he explains the CT situation is a little odd because he says something like.
"You get sucker punched in the face just for talking to somebody and you never know what CT's capable of, and I don't wanna live here the whole season knowing like oh I'm asleep he's gonna stab me or anything. You know like he obviously doesn't like me and I like I want him gone you know."
Just the last sentence makes it sounds as though Davis had a say in the matter.
I also think they changed the some of the conduct so you can't provoke someone into assaulting you (ie. Beth and Tina). Just from watching the Adam/CT fight and the Brad/Darrell fights. Under previous situations I don't think both of them would have been sent home. I'm not sure Adam throws a single punch on CT, I know he tries to, but if he connected with anyone I think it was Dunbar of all people. With Brad and Darrell, Brad never got the opportunity to before he was laid out. I think maybe the creators or production saw the potential for grief tactics to be used as a strategy for eliminating stronger players, and amended the rules so a Beth/Tina situation couldn't occur again, where a competitor couldn't be cornered/pressured into a one sided altercation.
Just my take on the situations.
Well Brad did kick Darrell right? But I'm not sure about the C.T./Adam thing, Adam might have gotten a punch in.
Yeah I saw the kick too, but strangely enough, before that altercation takes place he kicked Derrick in the same manner too though (like some sort of weak shin swat, the same type he gave Darrell when Darrell had a hold of his wrists) and wasn't immediately restrained or kicked off.
There's just certain inconsistencies now that make it different from like Ayanna/Christian & Shane/Steven situations.
Even if the kick wasn't the reason for Brad getting kicked off, there's no way they would've let him compete with a pretty much broken eye socket. If he did compete and something hit him in the eye, it could've really done damage to his vision in the longterm.

Adam did instigate the fight though by pouring the drink over CT's head. And I am not sure but I think on a recent challenge it was stated that if a fight breaks out both participants are gone now, yet it doesnt make sense in the Tonya/Veronica situation seeing as Veronica stayed while Tonya left, then during Darrel/Brad both left. I think they do it on a case by case basis.
I don't think they got stricter with people instigating fights. I think production wants people to instigate fights, without it getting physical.
I.E. Katie. Production knew when she found a plunger in the bed she would flip out on Kenny and Evan. Katie would never hit anyone, sober or drunk, on a challenge.
What people might not know, was the plunger was used and dirty.
Also, I think production are stricter with men than with woman (double standard). It still boggles my mind how quick they kicked off Steven for slapping Shane. I remember the show went to commercial and when it came back, they announced he was DQ'ed from the game.
I felt bad for Adam, he had absolutely no chance in the fight against CT, but still got kicked off because he got a punch in.
They definitely soften the rules from the Extreme Challenge and BOTS II times to The Ruins and FM2 times.
Screw Adam, he started it with that drink over CT's head, and he probably knew CT's was going through ****, I hate how people say poor Adam when he knew full well what he was doing. If you mess with the bull you get the horns.
I do have a beef with production, especially in the Brad Darrel fight, they could've stopped it at any moment by telling Brad to leave the room, cause seeing that scene you knew it wouldnt end pretty, instead they let it happen. Its kinda hypocritical about them that they say "if you fight your gone" but they give them endless amounts of booze, and dont step in before the situation gets violent.
