Survivor 22: Redemption Island - Spoilers
According to missyae, Survivor 22, which will begin filming in a couple weeks, will be some variation of a "Russell Hantz vs. Rob Mariano" season. Oh joy....
*pukes* Hooray...
What great news!
This is even worse then Camilla on Cut Throat: The Challenge!
Not gonna lie, I freakin' love Russell and Rob so I think I'll be happy with whatever they're doing with this. This season is the one to be aired in Late Winter/Spring, correct?
This is false. Russell left this message on his facebook. Russell Hantz "There are a lot of rumors out there circulating, I am letting everyone know that I am efficially retiring from the game of Survivor. I'm not saying I will never do reality tv, I already proved my point that I'm the best survivor. I'm sorry if this disappoints anyone, but I think its for the best for me and my family to move on. Thank you for your support and God Bless."
He is not the "best survivor", he lost 2 times and well if he is on this season I hope he loses again ha.
He is not the "best survivor", he lost 2 times and well if he is on this season I hope he loses again ha.
Oh no! I hope people don't start this debate again... LOL.
If that rumor is indeed true then TEAM ROB all the way :)
Yeah this isn't true. Also, Russell is pathetic. He could play the game 700 times and he would still lose. Hell, he could be the only player on the island and he'd still lose. That's how terrible of a player he is. I'm glad he's "retiring".
Given how well missyae has already done with season 21, this is looking increasingly credible :(
Given how well missyae has already done with season 21, this is looking increasingly credible :(
Apparently Lynne Spillman posted this on her Twitter after people blasted her for the Russell rumors:
Russell on S22? Not my idea, direct hatred elsewhere. Thanks.
She also said this:
i'd like survivor 22 to be filled with interesting people. ha, i'm just ******* with you... expect more kelly sharbararararaughghghghhh <3
However, her account has since been suspended.
I'd say with 99.99% certainty that wasn't the real Lynne. I looked at the twitter when it existed and it was designed mostly to make a mockery of her and Survivor casting in general.

If somehow this is true, I may have to give up on Survivor. I've stood by this show since it started, but I can't take anymore Russell and the stupid ******* hidden immunity idols.
I am going to have trouble watching this season too. Spoiler: Casting department sets Russell up with a few allies before the season begins, production hides idols in a place where Russell will "find" them, Russell plays an idol at every tribal council, and ends up in 3rd place with 0 votes. The end. Nothing exciting to see here, so I might have to move along.
Sounds like Russell will fly out next Monday, August 9, and Rob flies out the day before or the day after (probably the Sunday, since missy alluded to "next weekend")
I still have a hard time believing this is true. There's supposedly going to be a signing in Louisiana with James and Russell on the 17th (or somewhere around then). I'm hoping that's real because honestly, if this turns out to be true, I won't be able to watch I don't think.
I really hope this is not true, because it's the worst idea I've ever heard. I love Rob, but come on, enough is enough. And if I ever have to see Russell on my tv again, I'll throw something at it. (and then my boyfriend will be really mad because it's a very big expensive TV and it was originally his)

Do you think that's possible? Probst: I would love it. I would love to see Rob and Russell go head-to-head or represent different tribes, something like that. Yeah, because it is a matchup that you want to see, 'cause in a weird way Rob is suddenly the hero [now] and Russell's the villain. In what world does that make sense?
Can't wait...
In this one, unfortuantely...
I've had enough of these two...
I'm rooting for Russ of course!! The master manipulator of Survivor is back!!
I'm rooting for Russ of course!! The master manipulator of Survivor is back!!
Ew, gross. Team Rob all the way, if this indeed ever did happen :D
I suppose I'm team Rob, but honestly I'd be shocked if Russel made the merge. I could actually see Rob making it semi-far
We've seen what Russ can do and I know now people might be after him since they've seen his gameplay and tactics. But I think he'll find a way, I don't think it will be easy to get rid of him.

I just hope this rumor isn't true, because I love Survivor, but I can't watch this ****...
Although at this point it still seems like wishful thinking that this will not happen, I believe they are supposed to be on their flight to Nicaragua tomorrow (exactly 1 year to the day since HvV began filming), so we should have some rock solid confirmation of our fears by later this week.
Russell will somehow make it to the end again due to: A) Production will plant 9,000 hidden immunity idols and you can play them up till the final vote. Any extra hidden immunity idols you have at the final vote will count as a jury vote per each idol. B) People will keep Russell around because they know they can beat him. He's the WORST social player that Survivor has ever seen. If I were in the game, I'd keep him around because it'd be an easy million dollars in my pocket. C) If the show is Rob VS Russell, production will have some sort of rule where you can't vote either of them out until the merge or something. If they got voted out early, it'd be a pointless season.
I agree with your third point. If the show has them as the central figures, I don't think they will leave early. Maybe production will make them captains of the tribes and that way they can go home till the merge.
I'm just hating all this Russell vs. Rob theory. It bugs me because I really do love Survivor, but bringing Russell back would make my heart drop :) That third point was pretty good though, why would they do a whole season based off them, just to get them out early?
