Also Gauntlet is usually rookies vs. vets where the infernos are good guys vs. bad *****. The first Inferno and Gauntlet were RW vs. RR though.
Also, Gaunlets were against your teammates whereas Infernos were one guy from each team against each other. We could go more technical..

No it wasn't....
Gauntlet 1 and it was you choose one person from your own team against someone from the other team. WAY BETTER than have 2 people from the same team go against each other. I hated that so much.

Sorry, with the exception of G1..
The first Inferno was probably my favorite season of the Challenge. Great cast. Miz, Coral, Timmy, Abram, CT, Katie, Veronica, Darrell, Shane. The mission where they had to smash up a room with guitars was probably my favorite ever. Even the intro (with the Yellowcard song) was the best one. Those Infernos were entertaining, especially Kendal vs. Leah where everyone was yelling at each other and then David just randomly jumps in the middle of everything butt *** naked. Hilarious.

Things def seemed more fun back then. Everyting is so extreme and crazy now.
You're making me want to go back and watch that season.
I like the newer seasons maybe because I was younger and didn't pay that much attention to the the older seasons. That part is true the challenges back then were less crazy and now they are really extreme.

The best part about that particular Inferno was that the challenge itself was freakin' lame... Moving bricks back and forth... How exciting! :/
Personally, I don't really have a favorite challenge. Challenge of 2000, Battle of the Seasons, Battle of the Sexes 1, Gauntlet 1, Inferno 1, and Inferno 2 are my favorites but I couldn't pick my favorite out of those. They're all equally amazing.
Some of the missions were more fun yet still challenging, the cast was allowed out of the house every couple of nights, and there was some sense of honor amongst most of the cast. The older members of the current challenges remember those days. Landon, Brad, Derrick, Darrell... that's why you can see them compete strong but try not to get too involved in the drama.
Oh, I miss the Gauntlet 1 and Inferno 1. THOSE were some great challenges.
Yes they were and don't forget about Battle of the Seasons and Sexes.
Man I wish MTV would just make a webstie devoted to RW/RR stuff and post all of the challenges on there or release them on DVD.

I've been waiting for that for years. Happened to go to the MTV store in NY thinking they'd have some sort of dvd challenges, but they didn't :'(
Luckily I have all of the seasons from when they were airing so that's cool to have. The only bad part is that most of them are on VHS meaning in a few years, I probably won't be able to watch them.
I always wanted to see Extreme Challenge 2001... I heard Susie was a whiny ***** on that one.
They could make a lot of money putting those out.
I think the reason they don't put them out is cause they know they wont make a profit. Let's face it, how many people do you know that watch the challenges religiously? I have a lot of friends that are fans, but rarely any that would actually go out and buy dvds. Let's not forget that they'll probably make them like $35-$50 and people just wont spend that on dvds anymore.
They could package the defunct formats as a unit or a Complete Series for $40 and be fine. All of the Gauntlets, Infernos, etc. Consider that the older shows were 30 minutes long and you can put 4 hours on a DVD or 8 episodes of a show. In a pack of 6 DVDs, you could fit all of one series of Challenges easily for $40.
I'd buy it, especially if they update the commentary or throw never before seen footage on it.

Well Did they make a profit for putting out A Shot at Love on DVD? I doubt they did so in my mind if they can put out Teila's show on DVD then I'm pretty sure they just put the challenges on DVD aswell.
I have all the challenges from Battle of the Seasons on. I just had to have no life any time they were replayed in the last few years. Bit dodgey that I had to tape them, but hey, I would have paid for them if they were available to buy. I love watching the old seasons!

i have extreme challenge on dvd, i bought it online. Susie was very annoying and a horrible competitor. She's the reason why Road Rules ultimately lost. The team all agreed that Ayanna was better.
I just finished rewatching Extreme Challenge. Susie was incredibly pathetic. Still is, but now she has developed some sort of odd swagger to her game because she has taken out a few mediocre opponents. She is still a whiny shrew.

Where online can you buy old challenges? I have always wanted to see the years before Battle of the Seasons! We didn't get MTV in Canada back then, and I had no idea what Real World or Road Rules was.

Maybe you can eventually buy a DVD recorder and dub them from VHS to DVD.
Unfortunately I can't remember much about some of the earlier challenges, but I do remember that Susie was a weakling, as others have mentioned. I mainly remember her for being seen as the hot girl by Latterian and James.

Does Tina Fey really appear on the improv episode of Extreme Challenge, or is IMDb wrong?
Is no one from this site the person that created that one site with all the vidoes from different seasons? I would love to watch the Extreme Challenge considering I haven't seen it since it aired. I remember there was a strong Julie/Emily rivalry on that season. Plus, there was that huge Syrus/James argument that almost turned into a full on fight. Let's not forget Dan is hilarious!! I also always thought it was weird that James had the romance with Rebecca on that show despite Emily being there too.

Right, I mean I don't see why Johnny Bannanas was portrayed as "the villain" in the Ruins simply because he didn't trust Susie.
Susie has been manipulative and weak on challenges on Extreme, Gauntlet II, Inferno 3. She can be extremely self-centered in these games. She certainly has a track record to look at. I don't think Johnny was out of line at all.
Manipulative and strong against weak performers but acting all innocent or arrogant when she wins
Absolutely, it's funny to see her cower in fear at the prospect of going against KellyAnne after talking this big game up to Johanna. Haha, I don't know anymore.
