Happy 34th Birthday Tiger Woods!
Anyone else watch the 14 minute speech by Tiger? I thought it was pretty good as far as mea culpas go, although I am sure he'll be roasted alive for it. ;)
Any thoughts? I thought it was a good speech but he seemed almost insincere and robotic.
"Many of you in this room are my friends." Uhh, no they're not. They're the media. They get paid to exploit you. "Elin and I have started the process of discussing [strike]our divorce[/strike] the damage caused by my behavior." "My real apology to Elin will come from my behavior [strike]and a lot of diamonds[/strike]." "For that all that I have done (stares in camera and pauses)...I am so sorry." (stares in camera for another 3 seconds) "I've had a lot of time to think about what I've done [strike]in sex rehab[/strike]." "I was receiving inpatient therapy for the issues I'm facing" - aka, sex rehab. "Starting tomorrow I will leave for more treatment and more therapy [strike]in sex rehab[/strike]." "I do plan to return to golf one day...I just don't know when that day will be." His mom looked PISSED. Annnnnd then they had the obligatory tearful embrace with his mother afterward.
"Many of you in this room are my friends." Uhh, no they're not. They're the media. They get paid to exploit you.
There were only 3 wire service reporters, the rest were friends and family including his mom and college roommate.
"Elin and I have started the process of discussing [strike]our divorce[/strike] the damage caused by my behavior."
I think she would have already divorced him at this point if in fact that was her ultimate goal.
"My real apology to Elin will come from my behavior [strike]and a lot of diamonds[/strike]."
Well, you've got him here. I believe the rumors about a "cheat clause" recently added to the prenuptial agreement that gives her serious money if he [strike]cheats[/strike] gets caught again.
"For that all that I have done (stares in camera and pauses)...I am so sorry." (stares in camera for another 3 seconds)
It was coached, but I think it will work for the majority of Americans.
"I do plan to return to golf one day...I just don't know when that day will be."
I hope it is the Masters. I don't even watch golf unless Tiger is playing. What is the point?
His mom looked PISSED. Annnnnd then they had the obligatory tearful embrace with his mother afterward.
Coached again, but appropriate. LEAVE TIGER ALOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE!!!!!! :D
If she was smart she'd divorce him, she gets a WHOLE lotta money if she doesn. But I reallly don't think it felt sincere, it was a nice speech. But Bill Clinton also made a nice speech about Lewinsky afterwards.

I don't think he should have to make a public appology. He's an athlete. He's not a President. What happens in his marriage is their business.

All around a funny post.
yeah your'e right. I know he was a role model, but it didn't physically hurt anybody. He owes us no sort of apology.

I saw that earlier. I guess Tiger has his lawyers on it...but it is funny!
Tiger Woods press conference is on...in case any of you were just tuning in from the moon and didn't know, lol.
Wow, it took 30 minutes for the first golf question at a golf tournament press conference. New record!
This is the most excitement to be associated with golf in a long time. And it had nothing to do with golf :P It just happens that Tiger went on a cheat-a-thon and he happens to play golf.
It's a damn ******* shame how much CNN has been playing this up today. You could have sworn that Obama was meeting with a prime minister with the way they've been touting it.

Tiger is a ****! :) I want be just like him when I grow up, SYKEEEEE LMAO
I only watch golf when Tiger is playing. I don't care about his personal life. He is absolutely amazing as an athlete and continues to do the "impossible." Let's forget about the shot he holed at 7. YouTube - Tiger Woods hole in one masters I just watched him hit it into the woods. Hit a tree trying to get it out. Then go through the trees and land the ball 6 feet away from the pin (although he missed the put.) No one in golf hits shots like this guy. He is the sport as far as I am concerned.
Not really the right place for this (i.e. talking about a stand up guy in the Tiger thread) but I am really happy for my fellow ASU'er (a little before my time) and a great champion, Phil Mickelson. It was quite touching to see him with his wife and family after sinking a birdie to win (by a few.) I love watching Tiger as he energizes the game, but my default player is always Phil (especially because he could shoot 30 stokes better on Karsten than I could...of course, I brought beer in my bag rather than a real 14th club, and we all know it is about that 60 degree loft, lol.)
I agree B. I've always liked Phil. Especially for what his family's been through in the past year. Still, 4th isn't bad for Tiger's first match back. Helloooooooo, amateur champion. EDIT: Helloooooooo, jail bait.
I agree B. I've always liked Phil. Still, 4th isn't bad for Tiger's first match back.
He did very well and brought a gold mine of ratings to CBS. Not a bad week. Hopefully he did well enough so he can move on with his life, keep to his promises and find the next stage. Clearly, the guy is no Britney or Lindsay Lohan. I have a feeling he will rebound, and while it will never be forgotten, his indiscretions will not play an important part in the legacy he leaves - which is the greatest golfer in the history of the game.
Helloooooooo, amateur champion.
I kind of had a feeling that was your type...
EDIT: Helloooooooo, jail bait.
Hi, my name is Chris Hansen and you're on Dateline NBC. ;)
this whole Tiger situation is olddd! just let the man do his thing.
You should have said, "Let the man play golf." Otherwise, it is open to interpretation, haha.

Team USA looks good coming out of the gate this morning, but are faltering a bit with their putting. The greens are lighting fast.
