Yeah. But I think this is just his third season as a senior skater. He already won a medal at last year's world championships. As long as he's alive and healthy, he should still have a number of years ahead of him in the sport. For a lot of skaters it takes a few years on the scene to get into the top rankings.
Good job Evan! Happy with that. I disagree with it being the performance of his life, though. Had some jumps he really had to muscle out and fight for. Glad Evan changed his costume from that gray sweater with the black rope/feathery looking things on top.

Well, tonight's costume was similar to the outfit from two days ago (for the short programs), but in earlier competitions this season, Evan wore a gray sweater with black decorations on the sleeves for his long program. It was not nice looking, IMO, and didn't help promote that masculine image he keeps going on about.

I think there should be a bigger deduction than two points for having to stop in the middle of your routine, if you actually have to leave the ice. Unless it was because of something you can't control, like the ice being messed up. I'm glad he was able to fix it and finish his routine, but I'm sad for him because that lace probably caused him to fall.

Yes. You're not allowed to repeat jumps if you mess up on them. For example, if a skater falls on a triple Axel, if he does another triple Axel, there must be another jump attached to it or it won't count.

A lot of skating fans don't want to see Plushenko win. He doesn't really work at putting on a complete performance - he's all about the jumps these days. He has been one of my favorites, but I am disappointed with his performances overall this time. I would like Evan to win.

Gotcha. And they can change their performance halfway in if they screw up to try and regain the points they lost?
Plushenko is looking kind of weak when he lands his jumps...I hope that'll be enough...
Yeah, that performance was not Plushenko-like. His jumps are usually super amazing. That's all he has this time, so it's a bust to me. I think Evan probably got it.

If they double a toe loop jump they wanted to triple originally, for example, they can go for the triple loop again. If that jump ends up doubled, it won't count at all because it was a repeat.

Yes. In the short program especially. They have a number of elements they must perform in their programs. In the long program, the men do eight jumps, and the women seven. Then there's the footwork sequence, and I think the spins and spirals are limited as well.
