I am waiting for Georgia. It will be interesting to see if they are still participating as there has been talk about them leaving.
A very somber moment for sure, should they march in Olympic Stadium.
The evening news here said that Georgia was going to participate in both the ceremonies and games.
Are they going to do that again with the events? I can understand the opening ceremonies but not the events! Gah, I'll have to avoid the news/sports sites now.
I'm guessing you will have to avoid the internet...
They want the good stuff in prime time and will hold it.
Fun little fact: Jack Johnson is expected to be the only member of Team USA's hockey team to march in the Opening Ceremonies, and USA Hockey says he'll be the first U.S.-born player on an NHL roster at the time of the Games to do so.
Did anyone else see the Shawn White piece on 60 minutes? Red Bull build him a personal half pipe on top of a mountain that you needed a helicopter to get to....it was sweet.
Quite possibly the slowest version of O Canada I have ever heard.
But she did sing it well.
I think it's weird that it's not playing on the West Coast until 7:30.
I know!! We're always left out! 10 more minutes... :p
Georgia is sticking it out? Good for them. I can't imagine how hard it must be to keep team morale up at this point. :(
EDIT: It's a nice gesture that the flags are flying half-mast.
According to program, the opening ceremony was to climax with the Olympic cauldron being lit jointly by four Canadian sports heroes -- all-time hockey great Wayne Gretzky, skier Nancy Greene, speedskater Katrina LeMay Doan and basketball All-Star Steve Nash
Interesting choices...
Um, what the ****? Did I miss something? It started 20 min ago and all I've seen is Matt Lauer and some other guy talk about the tragedy that happened earlier today, and now they're showing Ski Jumping!! Did they show this before the actual ceremony part or is the West Coast just getting gypped?!

They showed that before. Coverage started at 7:30 and I think the actual ceremony started at 9.

Oh. Ok then. Patience has never been my strong suit. :D
EDIT: To avoid being misinterpreted, I wasn't upset about them talking about the Georgian guy at the beginning, I liked that. I just thought they had gone straight from that to the games.

I wonder if they're going to show you guys the video of the crash. They showed it a couple times out here...

Yeah, they did. I was surprised, seeing as though it's been being pulled from YouTube all day. I didn't think that was necessary. A tribute, yes. More pictures and video? Not appropriate. I can't imagine what his family must be going through...
i hope patrick Chan pulls out gold, there has definately been enough hype around him. Also this olympics better rock or else Donald Sutherland definately lied in all of these Canadian olympic ads that have been playing on my tv.
Haha, you are lighting the torch and we are just starting!
Yep! Just now raising the Canadian flag. Ooop, here comes Oh Canada!
And yes molds, holy ****, it is veryyyy slow....
