The cast members — except for "Samoa" bad boy Russell Hantz, who was still filming the 19th season — were individually interviewed in secret last August before production on "Heroes vs. Villains" began in Samoa. It will be the third time on "Survivor" for nine of the castaways, many of whom participated in the "All-Stars" and "Fans vs. Favorites" editions.
Which is why we knew the entire cast before they even got home, right?

Article with commentary from Spillman, Burnett and Probst.
"All of the memorable players are either a hero or a villain," said Probst, who is also an executive producer. "There's nobody that you remember that you just go 'eh'. You either loved him or you hated him."
What about Danielle?
So the two articles talking about how they picked the cast and how they were narrowed down from 301 doesn't really say anything about how they picked the cast and how they were narrowed down from 301...or is that just me?
That ew article was a good one, Sugar looks like she could be in trouble.
Haha I know right? I read at least 3 people that were out for Sugar.
I would love to know the 30 they cut.
I know that someone over at Sucks had a list of about 36...maybe someone can find it.
Yeah wasn't Tina Wesson and Natalie (Fans Vs Faves) supposed to be on here?
Cast looks AMAZING though. I'm so excited about thissssssss.
I also would love to know which ones were cut.
Oh also - there are definitely ones that I could do without. JT? Parvati? ugh...winners playing again doesn't do it for me. I like the people that are HUNGRY for it, like Amanda, Jerri, Colby, and I guess now Evil Russell.
I hope Russell loses. Hardcore.
Yeah wasn't Tina Wesson and Natalie (Fans Vs Faves) supposed to be on here?
I don't know about Tina, but I don't believe Natalie was. They had Shambo.
More thoughts:
WHY DO WE HAVE TO WATCH RUPERT AGAIN!? ****it. He's not going to win. It's so blatantly obvious that he can noway in HELL win this game. Ugh. I'm sure he's a super nice dude in real life though, but I'm just done.
Also - I'm definitely not going to be rooting for Sugar that hardcore like I was in Gabon. She has no drive to win and it really is a lost cause. She'll probably be one of the first out.
I don't know about Tina, but I don't believe Natalie was. They had Shambo.
ooof. I'm glad. I liked Shambo. Kind of. But I'm not quite ready to see her again!
IIRC, the last hero spot was between Cirie, Tina, and Sierra, and the last villain spot was between Danielle and Danni.
I would've LOVED to see Twila or Tina come back rather than Cirie. Snoooooooze.
Also - Ace would've been AMAZING.
IIRC, the last hero spot was between Cirie, Tina, and Sierra, and the last villain spot was between Danielle and Danni.
Danni wouldn't have been a villain, it was just that people were so in denial that Danielle was there, that they figured the source mixed her up for Danni.
Big Tom was awesome in the first all star season. How he totally made fun of Rob and asked for his hand in friendship and then called him a dummy. That was classic.
CBS.com has short (2 min) videos of each Survivor talking a bit about what they're doing now and all that good stuff. I'm going to try and get them on here.
Some interesting stuff here:
-Johnny Fairplay's name came up the most for who this cast respects most and least; he was mentioned 4 times (by Coach, JT, Rupert, and Sandra) for least respected and once (by Randy) for most respected. Corrine was the runner up, mentioned twice (by Sugar and Candice)
-The castmember most respected is Tom Westman (mentioned 3 times by Candice, Coach, and Colby) followed by Jenn Lyon (mentioned by Tom and Stephenie), Bruce from Panama (mentioned by Danielle and Sugar) and James (mentioned by Parvati and Amanda).
-3 cast members (Cirie, James, Tom) said "no comment" when asked who their least respected Survivor was, while Rob said "no one", Tyson said it was impossible to narrow it down to one, and Russell said he doesn't respect anyone.
-Sandra was the only one who said "no comment" when asked who her most respected Survivor was. Again, Russell said he didn't respect anyone.
-Tyson and JT said that the Survivor they respected the most was themselves.
-Of the 19 Survivors who answered, they gave 13 different responses for who their most respected Survivor was, and for the 11 who answered, 7 different answers for their least respected Survivor
Random Question: Why do people read spoilers? Doesn't that ruin the show for you? I used to and it just made the show so boring.
Watching spoilers for shows like Survivor or even the challenges is so pointless. Survivor is so exciting when you don't know what's going to happen.
