Why because he has won immunities? He has actually currently won more then Russell as an individual and as a team. Also I have always wondered why this show didn't have the transition of people being under the radar as big brother does every year. This season has half of the people in the final 6 who hve been under the radar (natalie,Mick,Brett) and it seems right now they are reapping the rewards. With this game as well it's also social and by them not making big moves they allowed Russell to come off as the jerk and let them be rewarded. i congragulate there gameplay and I can only hope that Survivor in the future puts more value on the challenges, as Russell is yet to win individual immunity or for that matter really come close to winning.

So basically, you want Survivor to be athletic gymnastics.
I agree.
But that is not the game in hand.
I was never a fan of the "out wit" part, but damn. Russell calls his victim and they are gone.
It is not like this is a freak occurrence. This is THE SEASON.
Hate him as you like, he will always be known as the Survivor mastermind. I don't care if this goes to season 40. It is clear, in the first 20. He is the master, and mind. The best player ever, as far as drama. A gold mine for CBS. Win or lose, they found the go to guy. Sorry haters. Russell is Gold.
I don't know were you got athletics but yeah, people should have to come in and be some kind of shape. Of the remaining Natalie, Jaison, and Mick played best because socially and around camp they allowed Russell to run things. From the first part of the season I thought this guy was just like Ronnie from Big Brother. The only major difference I see in them is that Ronnie was shut down. Russell just like Ronnie keeps sabotaging his own game. Yes also I would also like them to compete in harder/ more grueling missions such as that one on past season when you would have to catch the other team. It seems like to much of the game is just sitting around. I also think it's sad when someone like Cirie can make it far in the game as I can't see why her team would keep her in either of her season as she is such a physical liabilty.
Mick played best because socially and around camp they allowed Russell to run things.
Um..no...Russell is actually running things, for now. Full bore running the show. Not half bore.
There was not a conscious decision on their part that said, oh wow...let's let Russell get rid of 90% of the players in the game.
Yes, now there is awareness, but they are all paranoid of each other as Russ has played into all of them and he has Nat as a touchstone.
Come on haters, I need a better argument.
I love the quote taken out of context. Thank you. Also how did his one vote get rid of all these people. Um, Maybe it didn't start that way but definately became that especially during this episode. One thing is certain he definately needs them now more than they need. I appreciate that people can look past all of russell's flaws and come forth with this argument that he is the best. He isn't the best until he wins something. He is given so much credit though it's great. As well anyone would be crazy to not want to take russell to the end. Instant payday would be their reward.
UGH!!! These people drive me crazy they have no balls. Russell obviously wasn't going to use the idol, he has admitted to be being a liar and manipulator to everyone on his team. They have an oppurtunity to take him out and they don't COWARDS!!! Russell is a genius I'm not taking anything away from him. Natalie, Mick, & Jaison could have gauranteed a final 3 spot almost.
He has actually currently won more then Russell as an individual and as a team.
Russel has said that he purposely did not win tons of challenges because he didn't want people to think he was a physical threat. He was playing a bigger social game and wanted to keep as under the radar as he could by seeming like a less threatening player.
I just caught Jeff on Regis and Kelly (and no I don't normally watch that show, lol.)
Anyway, he admitted Russell is carrying the season.
Can you imagine if there was no Russell? I highly doubt we'd have almost 70 posts in an episode thread. Actually, we'd be lucky to clear a page...
The last season I watched was season 2. The tailers of Russell during BB got me to watch the first episode, but I stuck around to see what else Russell could do. He kept me entertained and I wouldn't be watching it he left early.

When they cast 19 people that either they find in a bar, are friends of casting, or friends of friends of casting, and then 1 cartoon character, the season has to revolve around the cartoon character. It's now been that way with Sugar, Coach and Russell three seasons in a row. I wish casting would do a better job to get a good mix of interesting personalities like they did in the hayday of the show.
I like Russell but I would like to see other personalities, I think if Russell weren't there and it was just a cast of 18 and the tribes were divided better it would have been a great season. No one knows what would have happened. I think it has a great cast we just didn't get to know any of them.
It's now been that way with Sugar, Coach and Russell three seasons in a row.
Agreed. They have built the last few seasons on a sole individual. Russell and Coach are interchangeable. Sugar was an interesting character, and more of a "good" one at that.
I was pulling for Bob, so I guess I'm biased on that front...

Jeff Probst blogs 'Survivor: Samoa': episode #13
by Jeff Probst
Man, I gotta say… another awesome episode. Yeah I know I’m biased, but come on, that was a great show!
And now there is absolutely no debate. Foa Foa has done it. They have come back from an eight to four deficit and now are in charge of the game. Think of the odds Vegas would have given you on that not happening. Well, Vegas wouldn’t actually give you any odds, since they know the show has already been taped and they know that I would have emptied my bank account to take that bet and would now be retired living in Palau.
FIRST IMMUNITY CHALLENGE
Nobody ever said all challenges would be created equal. If there is one consistent element of Survivor challenges it’s that they’re typically not things you can practice at home. When’s the last time anybody went bowling… using a coconut for the ball. But it was a little bit exciting, right? I loved Jaison pacing around the deck “visualizing” his final immunity winning toss. But hey, it paid off and kept Jaison in the game one more day.

NATALIE DOES HER LAUNDRY
It was a small moment but I hope you caught it as it speaks to the essence of Survivor. Natalie, in the midst of living on an island with a group of strangers, battling physically, emotionally, and socially for a million dollar prize still takes the time to wash and then hang her underwear on a branch in an attempt to keep them clean. You don’t get that moment on any other show.
FIRST TRIBAL COUNCIL
I hated to see ole Danger Dave go home. It’s no secret I root for the guy. He should be proud he hung in there a long time in a very tough game, but now it’s jury time, brotha.
Monica is a risky player. All she had to do was say, “If you say Dave, I say Dave” and let it go. But Monica was playing to WIN, not take second. I appreciate that kind of play very much. The fact that it didn’t work is irrelevant. You have to be willing to make those kinds of moves to have any shot of winning.

THIS IS HOW YOU PLAY SURVIVOR
When Russell began to get worried about Mick turning on him he made a statement that speaks to the kind of game he is playing:
Russell: “That worries me that he’s gonna send me home, cause that’s what I would do.”
That sentence, especially those last six words, “cause that’s what I would do” is the absolute essence of how you should always play Survivor. John Nash, the dude that was the inspiration for the movie, “A Beautiful Mind” spelled it out clearly in his thoughts on game theory. He said you must always make your best move based on the assumption that the other person is making their best move. That means you have to get inside their head, think what their best move is, assume they will make that move and based on that make your best move.
When Russell says, “cause that’s what I would do” that is precisely what he is doing. That is how you have to play Survivor. It’s one of the main reasons Russell has been so successful in this game. He is playing an extremely intelligent game. Don’t judge that book by its cover or the lack of a tooth here or there, the guy is putting that little pirate head to good use.
SECOND IMMUNITY CHALLENGE
Hmm… might as well just use the same line I used when describing the first immunity challenge:
“Nobody ever said all challenges would be created equal. If there is one consistent element of Survivor challenges it’s that they’re typically not things you can practice at home. When’s the last time anybody…. had to jump on a board to launch a bag into a basket 12 feet in the air.”
Thirty-three days of no food reduced Monica’s body weight to such a low level that the poor thing didn’t weigh enough to even get the bag close to the basket above her head. Worse news, Brett won immunity. It forced her into a desperate position – convince two people from Foa Foa to turn on one of their own.
AND SO SHE TURNED UP THE HEAT
Monica did a good job of stirring up the dust. She did such a good job that it almost worked. And she brought up a topic that doesn’t get much attention but is often a major factor in who ends up winning the game…

I CAN MAKE OR BREAK YOU ON THE JURY
Okay, you want insight, here’s some insight. When Monica uttered those words to Russell: “I can make or break you on the jury” it was a million dollar threat. Mark my words… A million dollar THREAT.
When someone is voted out and joins the jury, there is absolutely nothing to stop them from talking to other jury members and trying to influence the vote at the final tribal council. A disgruntled jury member, (wait is that redundant?) could easily influence another jury member simply by making up a story that never happened and attribute it to someone who has made it to the final. In fact, it’s possible that one jury member could influence an entire jury. Even if we could keep the jury separated right up until tribal council, they could still talk and whisper to each other. So, what this means is you have to play an even better social game than it might appear. You have to develop such strong personal relationships that you are “lie proof” and that is not easy to do… but it is achieveable.
This season is still waaaaay up in the air. So many different ways it could turn depending on who makes it to the final.
We have two weeks left. Next Thursday and then the finale the following Sunday.
Stay with us… it’s gonna be good.
I have watched every season of Survivor multiple times, and i have no doubts that Russel is the greatest to ever play the game. Whatever he wants to happen...happens, and no one can seem to stop it. I started out hating him, and now he could be my all time favorite survivor
Has anyone else noticed that Monica has done no exit interviews? If you googled her name nothing comes up, whereas if you were to google Dave Ball, an entire page worth of interviews are available. I wonder if there's a reason for that.
Did you guys know Dave was an alternate for China?
So apparently Dave has a website...
Reality TV World: Okay, so how did you find out?

Dave: A couple different ways. [Mick Trimming] said, "Hey man, you're a strong competitor. You deserve better than a blindside. Good job, good game." He shook my hand. That was an indicator. And the fact that [Brett Clouser] had the idea, "We can vote for you and write down 'Danger Dave Ball' to drive traffic to your wesbite." I said, "Genius! Let's go down in flames!"
Reality TV World: Well I guess that explains why Brett and Monica Padilla voted for you.
Dave: Correct.
Welcome to Dangerville!
I wonder what's up with Monica? She may have pulled a Chima after the show. I am interested to see if she will be at the finale.
I don't think she was that bitter. They may just be spreading out the interviews for all we know.
They could still get rid of Russell it isn't like he has won a immunity challenge/
Yeah they could, but doesn't he still have the idol?
I think if Natalie, Jaison, & Mick would have made a deal with Monica & Brett and blindsided Russell it would have went down as one of the greatest moves of all time, and the fact that he had it around his neck & didnt use it=priceless. It also could have almost gauranteed a final 3 spot for Jaison, Mick, & Natalie. However, each week I only I see about a 42 minute edit of 72 hours.
I think if Natalie, Jaison, & Mick would have made a deal with Monica & Brett and blindsided Russell it would have went down as one of the greatest moves of all time, and the fact that he had it around his neck & didnt use it=priceless. The sad thing is, I really think they're struggling to fill 42 minutes' worth of television. They really don't do anything back in camp. I love the people that say "they're trying to cram in 72 hours worth into one when Big Brother gets 4 shows a week!" when they really don't realize that on Survivor, once they get home from challenges, they do nothing. They sit there. They nap. They stare at the fire. The 42 minutes we actually see are probably the only 42 minutes that actually involve things occurring.
I disagree, I think there's constant strategy. I would also like to get to know the cast more like we do on Big Brother. I think one night a week is fine, but the recap and intro at the beggining should be way shorter. The challenges could be shorter also inless they are really good which this season they haven't. I would like to see some of Natalie's or Jaison's story or atleast 1 fact about Kelly. Two episodes before the finale I learn that Brett can talk.
Yeah. I also think that they do next to nothing on these challenges. I would like to see them in the future need to have to rely more on the fact that they should need to maintain numbers by giving them more survivor man style set up and instead of when they have reward challenges, they instead could become punishment challenges in that if you lose you have to face a consequence which could bring out more drama within a tribe or bring them closer together. (Still have reward challenges after merge though)
